《Vikings Imagines》A Real Farmer-Ubbe Ragnarsson

Summary: With Ubbe's wife heavily pregnant, it is up to him to keep the farm on their settlement running smoothly. A task that seems easier said than done.
Characters: Ubbe Ragnarsson x Reader
Meanings: (Y/N)=Your name
Warnings: EXTREME FLUFF
(A/N: This is really short, and I didn't really know where I was going with it)
(Y/N) watched from the doorway of the house as Ubbe ordered their workers on what their tasks of the day were. Usually she was beside him, ensuring that everything was going to run smoothly that day. Ubbe wasn't raised on a farm, though he had always wanted his own settlement, somewhere where he could start a family and run his farm. Finally, that dream was realised when he met his future wife (Y/N).
He had first laid eyes on her when she was out in the fields helping her father. Ubbe had never seen her before, and he almost cursed at the Gods for not letting their paths cross before. He could see that her face had delicate features, soft eyes, slightly pouting lips and full, rounded cheeks that lifted when she smiled; this was a big contrast to the rest of her, her bulky build showing years of hard, manual labour, as well as the roughness of her hands. He reminded her of a shield maiden, and he liked that she wasn't like any other woman. Being the confident prince he was, he approached her without a second thought, (Y/N)'s father hardly believing his eyes and ears when Ubbe started talking to his daughter. Half a year later and they were married, a simple story.
(Y/N) had been born and raised on a farm, her family had been farming for many generations. But when Ubbe had taken an interest to her, she wasn't as sad about leaving that life behind as she thought she would be. Living a more luxurious and relaxed lifestyle had been fun for a while, though when Ubbe announced that they were starting their own settlement, she felt excited. (Y/N) could take charge, she could help again, she could farm again; all those tricks and family secrets passed down to her could finally be out to use. And Ubbe felt the most joy when he saw the woman he first fell in love with working in the fields again.

"I am going to do something today, whether you like it or not." She stated as Ubbe approached her after dismissing everyone.
"Yes you are, you are going to relax, inside, where it's safe." he said back, holding her as close as he could with her baby bump in the way.
"Now we both know that isn't going to happen. I don't want to do anything hard or too manual, I'm not an idiot. Let me....feed the chickens!"
Ubbe chuckled, his big hand cupping the side of her face."Fine, just be careful."
"And you? Will you be joining in with the work?"
"Yes, I will. If you need anything you know who to go to."
She leaned up to kiss him."Alright, don't put your back out old man."
(Y/N) had always been hands on with the farming on their settlement. She prided herself on how well their crops did each year; and now that she wasn't so much a part of it, she felt left out. However, knowing that she was carrying the next generation made up for that. (Y/N) would often talk to her baby (as most mothers would) about their father, how amazing he was and how much they would be loved. Alongside this she would whisper family farming secrets, ones she would most likely repeat in the future, secrets not even Ubbe knew. Although she was itching to get back to her work, the health of her child was of far greater importance.
"Come on ladies, breakfast is ready." (Y/N) called out in a sad voice. The chickens came sprinting out of their pen, surrounding her as she threw the food out to them.
Her task was short lived as she realised that all the food was already gone. Sighing once again, she took the empty bucket with her as she left the pen, making a slow walk back to her house. Absentmindedly rubbing her belly, she took in the views around her, smiling to those that passed by. The days could get boring quickly, especially when she was stuck doing either the same thing everyday or hardly anything at all. She agreed with Ubbe that there wasn't anything she could do that wouldn't harm the baby, but really, what was a woman to do around here?

A grunting noise caught her attention, someone sounded like they were struggling, they were frustrated. She followed the noise, smirking as she saw her husband almost fighting with the shovel in his hands. He snapped at another worker as they tried to help, his viking nature showing for a second.
"Ubbe!" (Y/N) shouted, distracting him.
Ubbe left the man alone, going back to his attempt at digging into the ground."(Y/N), are you alright?"
"Yes, are you?" she made her way to him, watching as he continued to attack the mud.
"Yes. You should get inside. It's cold out."
"I was, but then I saw you....doing whatever it is you're doing."
"I'm trying to get the ground ready for planting our crops. Though it would seem that, that won't be happening today." He threw the shovel to the ground in frustration.
"Maybe that's because you're not doing it right."
"How am I not doing it right? The ground isn't ready yet, that's all."
(Y/N) bent down, taking a few more seconds than usual, and letting out a big breath as she straightened her aching back. Ubbe gently placed his hands on her, worried that she would hurt herself.
"(Y/N), what are you doing?"
"Let me show you."
"No, put it down."
"No, just wait! I won't be hurting myself." They looked at each other, neither one backing down."Ubbe, when it comes to farming, we both know that I have been doing it longer, and know a lot more than you do. I appreciate you wanting to be hands on, but once in a while, let others show you how it's done."
He groaned, hesitantly letting go of his wife, slightly nervous as he watched her raise the shovel slightly. She confidently striked it into the dirt, the shovel digging deep into the ground. Ubbe's eyes widened at her strength, matching (Y/N)'s smile as she looked up at him.
"You have to dig it at an angle, not straight down. It'll be hard work anyway but make it slightly easier." She explained.
"Fine, you were right."
"I know I'm right, and you're going to be too."
"(Y/N)," Ubbe wrapped an arm around her waist as he pulled the shovel out the ground,"you are happy, aren't you?"
"Yes, of course I am!" she beamed."You've done an amazing job running the place without me, I don't know how you do it."
He chuckled at her teasing.
"But even though I'm enjoying my pregnancy, I can't wait for them to come out so I can get back to work."
"I think you'll still be waiting a while after they're born."
"Um, no. It'll be your turn to look after them, and I can finally show you how to dig a whole field properly."

Essence Eater (A Super Progression Fantasy)
Gods. Demons. Aliens. Superheroes. Supervillains.Consume them all for power. Eighty years have passed since WW2, when Prime took to the skies and ended the war. No one knows what gave him his power, or what birthed the wave of supers that came after. Some claimed the nuclear bombs dropped in Japan cracked the barrier between Universes, allowing alien energies to enter the dimension. Others believed the wars finally triggered what humanity needed to reach a new stage of evolution. Daniel Das lives with his uncle in post-super London, the League of Hero's primary hub. He's spent all of his twenty-one years pushing himself, training in martial arts and studying supers, hoping he'll awaken his metagene and gain super powers. The cut-off age is close, but he hasn't yet awakened superpowers. Meanwhile, the League is steadily losing parts of the city to the growing villain factions. Daniel's uncle wishes to keep him away from the world of supers, but with the hot zones closing in, that's easier said than done. There are villains selling unregulated superpowers to gangs and dark days are on the horizon. Despite his limitations, there is no stopping Daniel. He is ravenous for power. If needed, he will ally with demons if they give him the power to protect his family and home. -------------------------------- This world building is heavily inspired by Worm and The Boys. It features dark, realistic storylines, corporation-funded heroes, and villains who aren't necessarily bad guys. The protagonist's powerset involves the crowd-favourite consuming enemies for power trope, too. The GameLit/LitRPG elements are super light and takes a while to kick in. The powercreep is slow as well since I don't enjoy overpowered protagonists. Chapters everyday until book 1 is complete. The schedule will change once I reach that point.
