《VIKING PRINCESS》Chapter Eighteen

They had all set up a place of celebration. She was at the table with her brothers. And again was sat between Hvitserk and Sigurd. She smiled as she watched Sigurd played his music.
Hvitserk had his back to her but would lean back and hand her a piece of chicken he had cut. Bjorn then blew the horn.
Sigurd then went to his seat and she leaned over to him. "It was beautiful." She said complimenting his playing then they looked to Bjorn.
"Friends, no one will ever be able to doubt what we have achieved! An army of all our peoples, and we have defeated not on but two English Kingdoms! For us, the sons and daughter of Ragnar, our first duty was to avenge our fathers death. And that we have done. But also, we have achieved my fathers dream. We have the legal right to the land, to farm here!"
She smiled as she looked into the crowd as everyone cheered. She felt a little pride and happiness in seeing her people cheering. "It is up to all of you to use this opportunity to send over new settlers and young families! Unfortunately, I will not be here to see this new settlement grow and thrive. My fate will take me elsewhere. I always knew, I had to return to explore the Mediterranean Sea."
She then drowned him out as she thought he spoke for too long. She ate a piece of chicken that Hvitserk and cut and handed her with a smile.
"I will be here but not to settle down and plow! Who wants to be a farmer now? We have a great army and we should use it. There are many other places that I want to attack and raid! And those of you who feel like I do, you should come with me." She looked at him as she felt like he was crazy for thinking that.

"You cannon lead the army, Ivar." "I don't want to, Ubbe. All I'm saying is that, for those who are still brave enough to raid and find adventure, then I will lead them." She rolled her eyes and put a hand on Sigurds arm.
She thought that he was absolutely insane for wanting to lead an army for more carnage. "You can put on an apron and settle down if you want to." "It will take a great man, Ivar. To stake a claim here. Defend it."
She knew that at this moment they would start being children again. She took a sip of her mead and sunk in her chair a little. "That does not sound like yourself, dear brother. The Hvitserk I know, he loves to raid. He's a real Viking. What you just said, that is not the Viking way."
She noticed Sigurd move and held onto his arm tighter. "Who among you will follow me? Who will follow me into battle? For the love of fame and for the love of Odin, our all father?" He smiled as everyone cheered with him.
"Don't do this, Ivar. We are all the children of Ragnar. We have to stick together." She had agreed with his statement. Knowing that only Sigurd and Hvitserk would truly follow her through anything.
"Frankly, dear Sigurd, I don't care what you say. The truth is, I wouldn't even piss down your throat even if your lungs were on fire." She began to sit up and watch the two all the while looking at Sigurd.
"Well, maybe that's because you're not really a man! Are your, Boneless?" "So, who is going to stay and farm?" Bjorn said as she silently thanked him.
Harald stood and said "I would like to stay. But I have other plans. Skol." After him Halfdan stood. "As for me, I want to go with Bjorn. I want to see the Mediterranean."

She watched Bjorn leap over the table. "Then it seems, the only thing that really kept the children of Ragnar together was the death of their father."
"Poor Bjorn! It is you who doesn't want to keep the army together. It is you who wants to go away to sunny places. Everyone else can follow me." She then heard Sigurd stand up and say "I don't want to follow you, Ivar. You are crazy. You have the mind of a child!"
"And all you do is play music, Sigurd!" " i'm just as much a son of Ragnar as you are." She went to hold Sigurds hand but he picked up his drink. "I'm not so sure. As far as I remember, Ragnar didn't play the Oud. And he certainly didn't offer his arse to other men!"
Everyone laughed but she didn't she was extremely worried for what Ivar would do. "You make me laugh. Just like you do when you crawl around like a baby." "Shut your mouth."
"Enough." "This has nothing to do with you!" "What's a matter, Ivar? You can't take it? No, I guess it must be hard for you now that your mommy's dead. Knowing she's the only one who ever really loved you."
She then screamed "Sigurd!" And stood before her brothers even comprehended what happened. She saw him take the axe out and she started to cry. She followed behind him as he walked to Ivar.
Then he fell and she fell next to him and raised his head into her lap and she felt arms around her. She had him from waist up on her lap. "No No No. My dear brother." She whispered as she held her head against his. She rocked back and forth with the lifeless body her brother in her arms.
From behind her Ubbe and Hvitserk lifted their head and looked toward Ivar. The only thing on either brothers mind was to make sure that Grace was fine.
