《VIKING PRINCESS》Chapter Fifteen

She stood behind Sigurd on the boat with a hand on his shoulder. Once the ships stopped and everyone got off everyone started relaxing. She smiled as she watched Sigurd cut off pieces of a deer they were to eat.
"It seems to me that the Saxons are as timid as frightened women. Their hearts are faint. I don't think they truly can trouble us." Ivar said as she turned toward Bjorn.
"You don't know enough, ivar. You haven't seen enough. These men are brave men. I've fought against them, you haven't." She pushes a seat over towards Hvitserk and sat down. "I can only see what my eyes tell me, Bjorn. And what I see is frightened people running away before us. I see their spineless God running away from out gods."
She shook her head and said "why must you always fight." As she put her head in her hands. "Listen to Grace and for once, why don't you listen to and older, wiser brother? These people running away they're not warriors. They are not the ones who will stay and fight. They are not the ones who will stay and fight to defend this kingdom."
"And protect their honor. What is a warrior without his honor." "I don't know. You tell me, brother. And, tell me again, how many battles have you fought." Ivar and Sigurd went back to back with each other. "Same as you, Brother, except I don't ride around in comfortable bloody chariot!"
"What you have to learn, ivar, is that if you break up this brotherhood," Grace stood and slapped Bjorn on his arm. He looked at her then back to Ivar "family, we shall not succeed. We have many challenges ahead of us. So if you want to keep arguing and whining like a little girl, then I suggest you leave. We don't need you."

Grace then walked towards Hvitserk "I shall nap in the boats, Brother." He nodded towards her and handed her one fur. "Be safe and comfortable. I will get you when we go." He said as she walked away.
It wasn't but a few minutes later that Hvitserk woke her. As she walked in front of Hvitserk she noticed flowers. She ran ahead and got one and ran back to the group. Bjorn looked back towards her.
As they walked through the woods she tapped Bjorn on the shoulder. "Brother, I would like to give you this as an apology for Ivar." She said as she handed him the flower. "Thank you, Sister." He said and put it in his armor.
The were soon stopped by a man on a horse. Bjorn walked up to the man and asked "what news?" "The Saxons are less than a day's ride away. They have a large army."
"We'll make camp here. Tomorrow we shall fight. In the name of our father, we shall over come." She started to walk away as she found more flowers. As Ivar was speaking she picked up two. Hvitserk took her by the arm for her to follow him.
"Our Warriors won't understand what's happening. We fight in the shield-wall. That's how we fight." Hvitserk tells Ivar as she hands Sigurd a flower with a soft smile.
"But we have a bigger army now. And they have a bigger army, now, Hvitserk." She shook her head. "Why can't we just listen to Bjorn for once, Ivar." She said with whining tone as she walked away.
She stood behind them playing with leaves and grass. She felt a hand to her back and saw Hvitserk. "Where are they going?" "To see the battlefield, sister."
She was on her way to get some food when she saw Halfdan. "Where shall you be going?" She asked as he turned. "Just get some food and don't worry." He said walking away leaving her confused.

Unliving
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon, November 2021] For the longest time, Aideen Fiachna had only one prescient wish; to be the daughter her parents could take pride in. The idea was a tall order, especially as her father stood at the head of the Templar order, and her grandfather as the Pope. However, she endeavored to try nonetheless. Yet fate had a different path in store for her. For all her efforts, all her best laid plans, were but the broken off crumbs of 'one day'. That day, she was brutally slain by a vile, accursed undead being. Though, not even restful eternity awaited her in death. She awakened inside a coffin. Her coffin. During her own funeral wake. Discovering, to her horror, that she had risen. Not somehow resurrected, no, but back in the form of that most hated of beings--the curse of undeath. What will fate deal her next? Chapters will range from 1-2.5k words, scheduled for release every day from Monday to Friday. --------------------------------------- Expect: -Character progression in a journey of self discovery that spanned the ages -World building -Tragedy and Comedy in roughly equal measures -Occasional action Do not expect: -Much in terms of romance -Politics, barring passing views and mentions -A lighthearted tale. This story will be a good bit grimmer than my previous one Any comments, reviews, and criticism will be much appreciated. And thank you for reading. --------------------------------------- Disclaimer: This story is my original work and only posted on the Royal Road website. The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.

Awakening
A potent tale of self-discovery. Centuries ago, the prophetic Golden Age ended in war, and history spiraled into darkness... Now, only scholars retain the last portent of the mythic city A'lara, concealed in a distant glade for the advent of the dragon mage. At the edge of the Known World, the slave Larin escapes her new lord before she meets his dark masters. Deep in the mountains, the legendary elf Kingard awaits his call to battle. When young Darek flees imperial mages tasked to exterminate shape-shifters, he launches them all on a voyage to redeem their unsought destiny. United by fate and guided by prophesy, their growing band of fugitives journey for A'lara to fight the ancient evil infiltrating the capital. But looming over the gears of fate, their enemies follow the same prophesies. With the unknown close upon them, Kingard and his allies face a mortal quest to restore their infected empire. Praise for Awakening: If you love Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkien and Tad Williams, then Awakening is a novel you will surely want to pick up. D.N.Frost is a consummate world-builder with a knack for creating characters that are complex and three-dimensional. Frost writes with graceful prose that is descriptive and well-edited. The plot is fast-paced and entertaining. What really sets this novel apart is the cartography, which is a spectacular accomplishment. Incredible world-building! - M.L. Spencer, author of The Rhenwars Saga ★★★★★ This novel was published in 2014, and it includes 19 antique watercolor maps! Check them out: Maps of Awakening: an atlas directory
