"I should go - I'm meeting Amelia in half an hour."

Dad nods and smiles. "I'm really happy that you've found someone like her."

"Thanks, but i'll probably mess it up again."

"As long as you don't get her pregnant then leave." He looks down, a hint of seriousness in his tone.

"Is that what you did to Mom?" I frown. Is this his way of finally telling me about the shit he's done? Maybe he feels guilty and wants to get it off his chest. Maybe he's looking for me to tell him that whatever he did, it's okay.

"I didn't leave for good, obviously. But I made some bad choices when she got pregnant with Enrico."

"And what? You didn't want kids?"

"I didn't know what I wanted back then, but I definitely didn't want to be a father at sixteen years old," he pauses. "We had a big fight and I left for a while. During that time I realised that I love your Mom and didn't want that to tear us apart. So I got my life together - got a job - and came back half way through her pregnancy."

I furrow my eyebrows, thinking. "What job?"

"Working for Caligari."

"Why would you-"

"I did some bad stuff back then, and Cal happened to be where I got my stuff. He had offered me work before for good money, so after your Mom got pregnant I didn't see any other option. We needed money."

Wow. Our whole lives got screwed up because of that one thing, and it turns out he only did it out of love for my Mom and our family. Wow.

"I just don't want you to do what I did. Why do you think your Mom is so stubborn about making sure you kids are safe?" He laughs. "I know Val has his thing with drugs going on, and it terrifies me what he could land himself in."

"I won't let anything happen to him. I don't even let him wear that stupid bandana 'cause I'm scared he'll get too excited and join a gang."

Dad laughs and I laugh along. "You're gonna be a great Dad one day."

I roll my eyes. "Stop. I already deal with all those guys - I wouldn't be able to handle a kid on top of that."

"At least you'll have a lot of babysitters."

"Ha. They'd be lucky if they even meet my kid."

"So when you gonna propose to Amelia?"

"Shut up."

"What are you idiots talking about?" I ask Amelia and the Chrissy dude.

Amelia punches my chest lightly like she always does and I smile. "He's just telling me about-"

"My dog!" Chrissy interrupts, his eyes wide. The fuck? This dumbass better not be doing anything that involves my girlfriend.

"Red, it's okay. Being secretive will only make him jump to conclusions."

"Damn right. And why the fuck do you have a cute little nickname for this prick?"

Amelia nudges my side. "Why do you have to be so mean? It's just what i've always called him."

"Back when you used to like him?"

Chrissy laughs and I shoot him a glare. Fucking freckly dumbass.

"I never liked him, Alex. We've always just been friends. Why can't you just believe that?"

"I do." Sighing, I look at Chrissy, catching him smiling at Amelia. Smiling at my girlfriend? I don't think so. I shove him, making him take steps back and Amelia is already yelling at me.

"What's your problem?"

"He clearly likes you, and who can blame him? He was probably flirting before I came over here and that's why he's so nervous."

"He doesn't like me! He likes Yasmin!"

I freeze, looking between them both and starting to feel stupid. "So all this time... it's Yasmin you've liked?"

"Yes," Amelia answers for him. I shove him again this time but harder.

"Stay away from my sister, you prick."

"Is this jealousy still going on?" Yasmin stands at my side with Max, laughing.

"You should comfort Chrissy!" Amelia says, pulling Yasmin to him and they nudge against each other. "I gotta talk to Alex and Max alone."

"No you don't-" She covers my mouth with her hand and starts pushing Max and I away from them.

"He likes her a lot, so let them talk."

"I thought he liked you?" Max questions.

"No. Why do you guys think that?"

We both shrug at the same time. "You treat him like he's your prize possession," I say.

"When have I ever done that?"

"When I punched him."

"Its called being nice. You should try it."

"I'm so nice."

"Prove it."

I raise an eyebrow, looking around the corridor. When a hot chick walks by, I say, "Hey, how you doing?" Flashing her a kind smile, she blushes and tucks her hair behind her ear.

"Um, good."

"Hey, Im Max - the better version of him." Max walks off with her but she keeps looking back at me. Amelia stands with her arms crossed, giving me a pissed off look.

"What?"

"That was flirting."

"I asked her how she's doin'."

"It was the way you said it."

"I'm still nice."

"Show it then by simply not insulting everyone in a five mile radius." She struts away and I follow like a lost puppy.

It's no surprise that Amelia and Chrissy are standing in the lunch line together, laughing like they're the worlds favourite couple.

I really need to work on my jealousy problem, holy shit.

Walking other to them, I make a point by kissing Amelia, despite the fact that I now know he doesn't like her. I'm still onto him.

"Guess what, Alex," Chrissy says while I still have my tongue down Amelia's throat.

I finally pull back, taking a breath. "What, Chrissy?" I smile, playing nice for Amelia.

"Yasmin and I have been texting since this morning."

"That's excellent." Yasmin and I need to talk.

"Yeah, we're meeting up after school."

"Congrats." I will chop off any body part of his that gets close to Yasmin.

He looks at a smiling Amelia, as if impressed by my nice skills.

When Amelia makes a move to follow Chrissy to his table, I put my arm around her front, holding her back. "I can handle not being jealous over little things, but I won't be able to concentrate on anything if I see you sitting with him again."

"It's fine, Amelia. Sit with your boyfriend," Chrissy smirks, walking backwards. I hope he trips and falls.

"See you in math," she says then turns to me. "So, tonight..."

"Tonight?"

"I'm in the mood for crepes."

"It's freezing out."

"That's why we're bringing blankets and cuddling." She smiles, biting her lip.

"That sounds... good." I stare at her lips, willing to agree to anything now.

Instead of kissing me, she just flashes a triumphant smile and sits down at our table with Jace, Val, Montana and Santiago.

"You owe me twenty dollars," Jace says, pointing at Amelia.

"For what?

"That bet we had. I just remembered."

"Ohhh, that."

"What bet?" I question.

"I bet Amelia that you guys would be back together in a month."

"When?"

"Like a week after you got stabbed."

"And it's been over a month," Amelia says, laughing. "It's been a month and three days!"

Jace's smile drops. "What? No... It hasn't."

"It has." Amelia holds her hand out. "Pay up."

Jace spends a minute thinking, then finally sighs and takes a twenty out of his pocket, giving it to Amelia as if it's painful. "I hate you."

"Oooh, are you taking that shit?" Val's eyes light up with excitement.

"Guess who has a date?" Yasmin interrupts, sitting down.

"Max?" Val guesses.

We all look at him weird, not knowing whether he's joking or is just stupid.

"No."

"Carlos."

"He has a girlfriend, you moron. It's me. I do. Me has date."

Jace looks at me, biting his lip as if he's trying not to say anything, then takes a drink of his pepsi can. I hope he's suffering.

"Chrissy is actually really cool. I seriously owe it to you, Amelia."

Yeah, thanks Amelia.

"What kind of person goes on a date before having sex?" Jace says.

"That's what I was thinking," Montana says.

Amelia looks at me, and I reflect her disgusted reflection, as if I never used to think like that. Well, I still do. Dates are weird if you're not past the sex line yet.

"All you guys ever talk about is sex," Amelia says in disapproval and we all laugh.

"Mmmm," she moans at the first taste of the crepe.

"You've got a little-" I use the napkin to wipe nutella from the side of her mouth. "And don't get any ideas. We're not doing that stupid chocolate fight again."

Just to annoy me, she gets a bit of nutella on her finger and smears it on my neck.

"Ameliaaa," I groan.

"Don't worry, I'll get it off." Repositioning herself on her knees, she leans down and puts her tongue to my neck, licking it off and I try to hide that it completely turned me on.

As soon as she pulls away I put another bit of chocolate on my neck. "You got that too?"

She gives me a look, but still leans into my neck again, this time staying there and sucking on my skin. My hand grips her thigh and I try not to make any noise because of how amazing it feels. Girls have kissed my neck loads of times but it has never felt anything like this.

When she pulls away again, I take a moment to open my eyes and let my head fall back on the sun lounger.

"You have a beautiful neck."

I laugh. "I'll be sure to thank my parents for their great neck genes."

Once she is finished eating, she snuggles into me, pulling the blankets tighter and lays her head on my chest. It's quiet for a couple minutes.

"Diego has been annoying the shit out of me because of what he saw."

"Poor kid."

"It's seriously not funny. I told you he'll still bring this up at our wedding."

"Don't talk about weddings and shit."

"Why?" Her voice turns harsh and I get nervous.

"Makes me feel old."

"Wouldn't it be cool to get married on this beach?"

"No."

"You're so moody."

"You're so annoying."

She sits up, furrowing her eyebrows. "Why do you have to be mean?"

"That wasn't mean; you're just sensitive."

She frowns and turns away and straight away I feel bad. I hate making her sad.

"Okay, you're not annoying; you're beautiful."

She keeps quiet so I pull her back down to me, kissing her cheek.

"You're perfect; you're kind; you have the most beautiful eyes i've ever seen. You're funny and sometimes aggressive-"

"Okay, you can stop," she flicks my face with her finger.

"Ouch."

"Don't be a baby." She does it again and it hurts more.

"You'd cry if I did that to you."

"Would not. Do it."

"No I'd feel bad unlike you."

"I'm not that sensitive. Just do it."

I put my hand to her face and flick my finger as gently as I can. She opens her mouth, putting her hand over where I did it.

"Oweeeeee, that fucking hurrtttt."

"Don't, you'll make me feel like shit," I hold her tighter and kiss where my finger hit her. She just laughs, looking at me.

"What did I do to deserve you?"

"Umm, you flicked too manypeoples faces and now I am your living karma to do it back?"

"You know you're my favourite person in the world."

"Why are you being all sappy tonight?"

"I don't know, i'm just... happy."

I smile against the side of her head, breathing in the scent of strawberry's from her shampoo.

"I love you, princesa."

"You say that so much."

"I don't know any other way to put my feelings into words."

"Then don't use words."

She sits up again and slowly leans down on me, kissing my lips slowly and carefully, as if taking in every single touch of our lips and cherishing it.

Hundreds of tiny grains of what feels like sand falls down on our heads, slipping down my shirt. Amelia squeals and covers her face to stop any sand getting in her eyes. Turning around, I discover the culprit is Val and his stupid stoner friends.

Val clutches his stomach while laughing. "Sorry to ruin your little moment."

Amelia pulls her hair back, shaking it to get sand out. "Val! This is everywhere."

"Want me to help you get it out of your bra?"

This fucking kid-

Grabbing a handful of sand from the ground, I stand up and throw it in Val's face and he screams, blinking it out of his eyes.

I glare at his dumb friends. "Get out of here or I'll make you eat this shit." They back off, not willing to test me.

"Dude, that was so not cool."

"When are you gonna stop acting like a five year old?"

"Alex, it's okay," Amelia touches my arm and I try to hold on to the anger that is quickly slipping away. "I'm not even surprised that he'd show up and do something like that." She laughs and Val joins in.

"Don't pretend you don't love seeing me."

"Oh, we're not pretending," I say through gritted teeth and Amelia smiles, slipping her hand into mine.

"Hey, one day I'll drop dead and you'll realise how great your life was with me in it."

"Don't worry," Amelia puts her hand on his shoulder and rests her head against his. "He loves you really."

"Do I?"

"Alex," she says with a warning in her tone.

"Amelia," I say in the same tone, knowing it annoys her.

"Wow. Cute," Val cuts in.

"Go play with your friends or something." I take the hand Amelia has on him and pull her to me.

"I thought you were over being mean?"

"You pissed me off."

"You did it worse to me. We're even."

"Fine. Bye." Feeling Amelia giving me a look from beside me, I sigh. "See you at home later."

"Kay," he backs off. "Bye, love ya."

I'm quiet and Amelia gives me another intense look. "Don't push it," I say and she lets it go.

She shakes her top then starts throwing her head around. "I fucking hate sand."

I involuntarily look down her shirt while she leans over to shake her hair. "Want me to help you get it out of your bra?" I smirk.

"Copying Val now? That's just sad, even for you."

"Anything Valentino says, he learned from me."

"Oh, back in your fuckboy days?"

"We don't talk about those times anymore."

"Good. You should be embarrassed if you used a pickup line like that."

"Hey, it worked. I'm a catch."

"Well, Mr. Catch. I'll catch you later." She picks up her bag and turns around.

"Where you goin'?"

"To find a new boyfriend." She walks backwards, looking at me with a smirk and a wink. I can't help the stupid grin on my face at how stunning everything she does is.

Mrs. Amelia Fuentes.

Huh. It suits her, although she'd probably put up a fight about wanting to keep her second name, but there's no way i'm giving up my last name - not that I'm worried about the Fuentes name expiring. I doubt that'll happen anytime soon with all my damn brothers.

"Are you coming or not? I gotta go to a store," she points to the town. "I need new underwear. Sexy ones, in particular."

"Jesus."
