Eliza Schuyler stood in her and Alexander Hamilton's shared kitchen. They had been dating for 2 years now and she had the feeling that he would propose soon. He was going to be home soon from a long day at work, probably fighting with Jefferson. So she was going to surprise him with his favorite food, vanilla ice cream.

She was worried about Alexander. He hadn't slept in ...3? Maybe 4 days. That wasn't healthy. Even if she had to force him, he will sleep tonight. Just as Eliza heard the timer go off to take the ice cream out of the churner, she heard the door of the apartment creak open. Her heart lifted. She hurried to the door, and her shoulders fell at what she saw.

Her boyfriend looked like he had just crawled up from his grave. His hair was scraggly, he had bags under his eyes, and his clothes were practically hanging off his body. When was the last time he ate? Alexander looked miserable. He staggered to the couch and almost fell onto it. He didn't close his eyes, just stared blankly straight ahead. He didn't even acknowledge Eliza. She cautiously crept over to the couch and attempted communication.

"Alex, honey, how was work?"

No answer. That was a stupid question, obviously work sucked.

"Alexander?" Was he ignoring her? Eliza decided it was a lost cause and plopped down on the couch next to her boyfriend. She thought for a second, then wrapped her arms around him.

It was almost as if Eliza's touch had brought life back into his body, his back straightened and he hugged her back. Eliza's eyes widened. So he's not dead! She ran her fingers through his hair, and he buried his head into her hair, breathing in her scent. They stayed like that for about five minutes, until Eliza stood. She kissed Alex on the forehead and walked into the kitchen. He looked confused but didn't follow her. She returned with two bowls of...vanilla ice cream! His shoulders lifted and he smiled for the first time in days. Eliza set the bowls on the table and Alexander tackled her onto the couch. She gasped, blushing.

"A-" She was cut off by Alex closing the space between their lips. She struggled for about half a second, then melted into the embrace. As he pulled off for air, he whispered,

"I love you Eliza".

She smiled, completely content. After Alex finished his ice cream, Eliza pulled him to their bed.

Alex pulled his shirt off and crawled into bed beside Eliza, her arms wrapping around his neck as they fall asleep.
