《Broken [FINISHED]》Therapy

'I don't want to go to therapy!' Denise sighed. It was Monday and she was sitting in the car, ready to go to the therapist.

'I know honey,' Lin said, 'but you have to! It's gonna help you.'

Denise sighed and nodded: 'I know!'

'Hi Denise - I heard that's what you're preferred to be called - welcome, come in. I am Daisy.' A young woman with freckles and brown hair in a high ponytail let them in. She had blue, sparkling eyes and she kept talking non-stop.

'You must be Lin!' she continued, 'You're her foster father, right? Yeah I already spoke to you on the phone. Welcome, welcome, please come in! You can sit over there.' She sat down at the other side of the desk. 'Hi Denise, nice meeting you!'

Denise smiled nervously. 'Nice meeting you too,' she said.

'I am Daisy Potts, but you can just call me Daisy. I will be your therapist the coming weeks. First, I'll have to check some things. Is your full name Denisabella Malinda Harris?'

'Yes,' Denise said.

'And what is your date of birth?'

'July 3rd, 2001,' Denise answered.

'Okay so that is correct...' Daisy mumbled, then she shut off the computer. 'What is the reason you came here?'

'Well...' Denise didn't know how to say it. She looked at Lin for help.

Lin said: 'You have to tell her yourself honey, I can't do it for you.'

Denise sighed.

'Just tell her what you told us last Friday.'

Well that's easier said than done, Denise thought. 'I,' she said, 'try not to think of anything that happened before my parents died, because it hurts too much. I pretend to be a different person, because who I really am is who I was back then.'

Daisy nodded understandingly. 'You have tried to store your memories away as far as possible, but every time something reminds you of them they come back with a lot of power and they can hurt you really much. Did I get that right?'

Denise nodded.

'What we'll try to do here is to help you find a place for these memories in your current life, so that you can think of them without getting hurt so much. But for that to happen we'll need a lot from your side. You'll also need to talk about your past a lot, and it might actually get worse before it gets better. Is that okay with you?'

Denise nodded again.

'Okay then!' Daisy squeeled, 'Let's get started!'

After the therapy session ended, Lin wanted to walk away, but Daisy called him back. Lin told Denise to go to the car and walked back.

'I saw your wife has reported Denise's social worker for child abuse, is that right?' Daisy asked.

'Yeah that is correct,' Lin answered.

'Do you think she has any trouble with that too?'

Lin looked at Denise walking away: 'Not that I know. But there is a lot about that girl that I don't know.'

Daisy nodded: 'Okay. Well, nice meeting you mister Miranda. See you next week. Will your wife be there too then?'

'Yes,' Lin said, 'She had to work today, but she can come next week.'

'Okay see you then!' Daisy said.

'Bye,' Lin answered.

'What was that about?' Denise asked.

'Oh nothing important,' Lin said, 'Something about Vanessa. What did you think of the therapy?'

'I'm exhausted,' Denise said, 'It wasn't fun, but maybe it's going to help me.'
