《Insane》Chapter 6

He grinned insanely before he ran off. I was too dazed to see where he went. Probably into hiding. The amount of times we actually meet is getting out of hand. I turned back to my father's grave, and I sat down for a bit, then realized that I wasn't doing anything. I said goodbye to him, and went away.
I came home and made sure that the windows were still closed. They were. I checked the home phone to find a missed call from an unknown number. I put it back down when it suddenly rang again. I instantly reached out to answer it, But then I paused. What if it's him? Then again, maybe mom's calling from her work phone. You never know. I sighed, and answered it. The voice wasn't my mom's.....but it wasn't his, either.
"HAY GURL!"
I laughed. "Hey, Tara. What's up?"
"Well, as I told you, it's still HELLA hot here! Oh yeah, and I bought you a souvenir!"
"Haha, thanks. So, I was wondering. How exactly did you end up with a good grade in geography back in fifth grade?"
"What?" She sounded confused.
"Ummm, excuse me? The Statue of Liberty?! How? We did landmarks YEARS ago, Tara."
"Yeah, umm, that was.....autocorrect?"
"Yeah....autocorrect on a computer.....really legit." I laughed.
"Yeah, ummm, let's change the subject.....Did you see...him anytime recently?"
I cringed all of a sudden. "Y-yeah....I did, actually. This morning....I was eating, and I realized the window was open....but he...he was there, Tara. He was inside."
She gasped. "Again?! How? Wasn't your mom here?" I rolled my eyes, it was getting kind of annoying that I had to explain everything.
"She has a weekend shift. I was trying to look for a way to avoid him, so I went to visit...s-someone."

"You went to see your dad again, didn't you?"
"Y-yeah."
She sighed. "At least you had a bit of peace."
"N-no....actually, I didn't. He followed me. Again. It really scares me, Tara. And now I have no idea who is here instead of you, in your seat at school, everything! And you know what the worst thing is?"
"What?"
"He killed someone, Tara. Today."
She gasped a little, again. "Who? Whom did he kill?"
"I don't know, Tara. No matter how many times he would visit, he would always say something that would stay in my head. He said I might find out, might, whom he killed. He was so close, Tara. He was an inch from my face. I was terrified, especially since he had that smile."
I heard noises in the background. "Hey, Alice, I have to go, I still have to catch up on some stuff here. Bye, girl!"
"Bye." I said, a bit quietly. Then she hung up. I put the phone down, and unwillingly relived every single time I actually saw him. All starting with that night. I couldn't take it. He was always watching. He was always there. He was.......wait, where was he? I frantically looked around, until I heard that voice.
"Looking for someone?"
I shrieked. How the fuck did he get in? The windows are closed....aren't they?
"You shouldn't leave the door open when you come home, you know. Anybody could come in." He chuckled. "Have a nice time talking to your friend?"
I tried to turn around but he was holding my arms from behind. "None of your fucking business." I snapped.
He tsked. "That's no way to talk to people, Alice."
I was overcome by rage. "That's no way to talk to people? It's IS a fucking way to talk to someone who's a coldblooded killer. It IS a way to talk to someone who ruined my fucking life-"

"And someone who could end it in a second." he said, pressing that knife against my neck. I suddenly panicked. He chuckled. "Isn't this the same situation we were in a few nights ago? My, my, how time does fly." he said, mockingly. "You looked so afraid, it was wonderful. I loved it. It's just the same now. Isn't it funny? How quickly you can get into a situation where someone can decide between letting you live," he put more pressure on the blade, making me gasp, "or deciding not to." He suddenly let go of me, and I put my hands on my neck again.
"JUST GO!" I shouted.
"Whatever you say, Alice." He chuckled once more, then jumped out the window. How does he do that? It was dark by now, so I went to bed. I turned away from the window, so I could get some decent sleep. A little while later, I heard a soft thump on my window. I ignored it, but it came again. And again. And again. And again. I tried to sleep, but I couldn't, so I turned to the window, to see what he wanted. The sight was shocking. It was sick. It was something only a fucked up, insane killer could do. There was someone in front of the window, but it wasn't him. There was someone there, hanging from a rope around their neck, a smile carved in their face. I was looking at the bloody, mangled body of my mother's best friend, Louise.

8 442The Many Lives of Cadence Lee
Cadence Lee thought she was a normal girl, perhaps a little well to do, but not exceptionally so. She had her college classes, she had her job that her uncle gave her, and she had a nice boyfriend who was sweet if a little awkward. Except, when a mugger accosts Cadence and her boyfriend attempts to wrestle a gun away from the criminal, Cadence ends up shot. A normal girl, with the kind of wound Cadence had, would die. Cadence managed to do that part. But a normal girl wouldn't then open her eyes again and learn that death is not as permanant for her as it is for other people. She can be reborn again, and again. Each time stronger and with new abilities. The catch? Any world she is born into, she can never return to. She has infinite lives, but only one life for each. So begins The Many Lives of Cadence Lee. 8 211Thomas the Brawler
Thomas doesn't remember what his last name was, before it became Bluebrim, a name belonging to another universe. He's also pretty sure he wasn't this stupid before he arrived, but what can you do, when a day that was supposed to begin with an interview to set your life back on track instead begins in a universe that makes no sense, with rules you can't begin to understand? Maybe he should have paid more attention to the avatar creation screen ... Content warnings: All of them. Seriously. Expect lots of blue screens to begin with. Don't expect a power-leveling fantasy, in which the lone hero beats up all the bad guys, and gets a harem of women. There's just a guy who treats character creation like an annoying series of pop-up advertisements, and the story is basically the ramifications of that. The main character has to learn to take the world he's found himself in seriously, and he'll learn the way most of us do, by doing it wrong first. This is, insofar as it is successful, a dark comedy fantasy. Also a bit of horror, particularly but not exclusively body horror. I'm pretty sure I've earned those Content Warning tags, so, uh, yeah. This is practice. Hopefully things improve as I go, and figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I make no guarantees things will ever get better. I've already made mistakes, I'll make more, and I'm happy to notice them each time I make them. You don't improve unless you fail. (On the plus side, it probably won't get much worse.) Feel free to point out anything you think I'm doing wrong; I don't promise to change anything, particularly if it's a matter of taste, but I am looking to improve, and figuring out what I need to improve goes faster if I don't have to try to figure it out myself. I've updated the earlier chapters for formatting, in the hope that it would make everything easier to read on mobile devices. Hopefully things work slightly better now, but please let me know if there are any issues anywhere.
8 147Death Galaxy
When portals opened across the world and space, people were a bit terrified. Naturally, some people called it the end times or some other negative interpretation. Thankfully, the new arrivals managed to calm the masses, saying they were here from across dimensions in search of peaceful refuge. After some discussion and promise from the reality hopers to not break the world, they were allowed asylum. And so, began a technological revolution as the new cohabitants, who looked distinctly human if a bit off, openly shared some of their knowledge with us. Space travel, while not cakewalks, become more easily accessible, as did interplanetary colonization. Naturally, with the New Humans keeping some of the more dangerous techs to themselves and Old Humans being a greedy bunch, tensions are arising as old and new grudges rear their ugly heads. The world endlessly spins as history, both good and bad, is seemingly on its way to repeating itself. Only with other planets, and potentially other universes, being the backdrop this time. But that was big stuff that Alex had no real interest in. They only care about one thing and one thing. TDAG. Trans-Dimensional Adventure Games. Best VR system ever made. Alex, instead of focusing on political and multiverse shenanigans, had their eyes set on VR games. Specifically, one of the new and up and coming potential best games of all times. Death Galaxy
