"What if Shawn came up to you right now and asked you to marry him?"

I thought for a second. "I don't know what I would say. I'd probably say no"

Elle gave me a horrified look. "What?" She said, quietly.

I smile started to creep on my face which soon turned to full blown laughter. Elle jokingly pushed me. "I hate you"

"Of course I'd say yes. I'd be stupid not to" My phone started to ring next to me and I picked it up, showing the screen to Elle.

"Speak of the devil"

Elle smiled. "You mean 'speak of the angel' because he's an absolute god"

"Is he my boyfriend or yours?"

"Hurrrrryyy. Answer!"

I pressed the answer button, putting it on speaker.

"Hello? Alana? "

"Hi!" I said, smiling.

"Hey. I just wanted to say good night before you go to bed"

"Isn't it morning over there?"

"Yeah. But I did some math and found an excuse to call you"

I chuckled. "You just used the clock app on your phone, didn't you?"

" Ha ha. NooOoo" I smiled at this.

"Hey! So I saw that video of you at a meet and greet today. What you said about me. I'm speechless"

"I was hoping you'd see that. Everything I said was genuinely how I feel "

"I love you. So much."

He let out a small laugh "I love you too, honey " There was some rustling in the background and I heard someone talking but it was inaudible on my end. "I hate to cut this call short but I have to go. Sweet Dreams "

"Have a good day, my love" I ended the call.

Elle looked at me like she was hurt. "What?" I asked.

"You need to go be with him"

"I just came back from being with him"

"That phone call. I could hear the pain from both of you"

"Pain? What pain?"

"The pain of not being in each others arms"

"Yes. I miss him. But there's nothing I can do about it"

"There is so much you can do about it, are you crazy?! Where is he, exactly?"

"Japan"

"Book a flight to Japan!"

"What?! No. School starts soon"

"School starts in September. 3 weeks from now. Go spend those weeks with the love of your life"

"But I-"

"Nope" She cut me off. "Stop being stubborn and book those dang tickets"

So that's what I did. Elle forced me to go home to pack and order the tickets. Of course, I didn't because I wouldn't want to be in the way of everyone at the concerts. I sat down on my couch, turning on the television, and wrapped myself in a blanket. Once I was comfortable, the doorbell started ringing frantically. I got up from the couch and opened the door.

Elle stared at me and I stared back. "You're kidding, right? I knew you would do this. Which is why I bought the ticket for you"

"You bought the ticket?" I said, in disbelief. "I don't want to go"

"Why not? You obviously miss him and he misses you"

"It's not about that. It's the fact that I don't want to be in the way of everyone"

Elle looked at me like I was crazy. "What did Shawn ask you at the airport before you left?"

I took a second to think about it. Then it hit me. "He asked me to go on tour with him"

Elle nodded her head. "There you go! You got it. Are you willing to go now?"

"Yeah. I guess I am"

The Next Day. . .

I got out of the plane, going to the nearest convenience store I could find. The plane stopped for a layover on my 13 hour trip to Japan so, I had a bit of time. I finally found a small shop in the airport, grabbed a bag of cheetos, and went by the waiting area. Pulling out my phone, I called Shawn.

He picked up after three rings. "Hi babe" he said, cheerfully.

"Hi love! Do you got plans tonight?"

He paused for a second before singing, "I'm a couple hundred miles from Japan and I"

I smiled, saying "I was thinking I could fly to your hotel tonight"

You could tell Shawn was smiling by the way he was talking. "Come on honey. Sing it"

"No" I chuckled. "Listen. Do you got plans tonight? I'm a couple hundred miles from Japan and I. I was thinking I could fly to your hotel tonight"

Shawn was silent for a second on the other end. "Wait. Are you serious?"

I continue by singing, "Cause I can't get you off my mind, can't get you off my mind"

"Are you playing a prank on me?"

"I don't know. Am I?"

"I don't know you tell me!"

"I love you"

"Wait Alana, tell m-" Before he could finish, my phone ran out of battery. I plugged it into my portable charger, opening the bag of chips. I guess he's just going to have to wait.

Five Hours Later . . .

I got off the plane, called Andrew to ask where they were staying, called an Uber, then grabbed my bag at baggage claim.

I was in the Uber, looking out the window admiring the city lights in the night sky. I tipped the Uber, getting out of the car, and headed to Shawn's room.

I knocked on the door and watched as Shawn, wearing sweatpants and his white "Heaven" shirt, opened the door. "So. You didn't have plans tonight?" I smiled.

He pulled me into the room, by tugging on my arm. "You're actually here" He rubbed my arms as a way to clarify to himself that I was actually real.

"I am" I smiled, placing my arms around his neck. He kissed me, closing the door. I pulled away. "What is it?" He asked, concerned.

"My luggage. It's outside" I opened the door again, rolling my luggage into the room. I took in the room, looking at the modern furnishing. A king sized bed, large window at the far end, just your normal, average-sized room. Shawn went to sit down against the pillows on the bed as I started to put my clothes in the closet.

I felt a pair of eyes on me as I was doing this so I looked behind me. "What?" I smiled as I saw Shawn staring at me in awe.

"Nothing. I'm just thinking about how lucky I am"

"How so?" I hung up one of my grey hoodies.

"I have you" I smiled at this.

"Mmm. I agree to disagree. I'm lucky to have you"

I finished hanging my clothes and changed into a hoodie and sweatpants. I went to the left side of the bed, cuddling up to Shawn. He put his chin on top of my head. I giggled, looking adjusting my head so I could see his face. He kissed my nose, smiling softly. "How are you?"

"I'm doing great. How 'bout you?"

"I'm doing absolutely amazing" We stared at each other for a while, taking in each other's presence. "You're beautiful, you know that?" Shawn spoke up.

"I'm nothing compared to you"

"Are you calling me beautiful?"

"Heck yes! Have you seen yourself? Hold on a sec" I got up from the bed, grabbed my phone out of my purse on the desk by the side of the window, and pulled up a picture showing it to him.

He just laughed shaking his head. "Whattt?" I asked.

"I love how you have random pictures of me on hand"

"Definitely" I went next to him again, leaning my back against his chest. "What can I say? I'm obsessed"

I grabbed his right hand, brushing my thumb across his swallow tattoo. "This one's my favorite" I said.

"Really? Why?"

"I don't know. I guess it's the message behind it. The sailors and how they get one before they travel, how it means 'home'. It's incredible"

"Have you ever thought about getting a tattoo?"

"I have always wanted a small one on my wrist. Just one"

"We should get matching ones tomorrow before the show"

"That'd be nice" I said as my eyelids began to slowly fall.

I woke up to the sound of Shawn singing in the bathroom. It was Why. "When people ask about us now we just brush it off. I don't know why we act like it means nothing at all"

I looked at the little clock at the wall next to the bed. It was three o'clock in the afternoon. I walked into the bathroom, grabbing my toothbrush. "Good morning honey" He said, fixing his hair in the mirror. Shawn was wearing a satin, magenta button-up shirt.

"Good morning. I can't believe I slept for so long"

"It's the jet lag. You must be starving. I got you some food at the restaurant across the street, it's on the table"

"Thank you, my love" I took a quick shower then went to the table to see that it was some pasta in red sauce. Finishing it up, Shawn came out of the bathroom. "You ready to go?"

"Go where?"

"Still up to get a tattoo?"

"Now?"

"If not now, when" He went up to me, grabbing my hands, helping me stand up. We were walking out of the hotel room, walking to the tattoo parlor since it was close to the hotel. "I don't know what to get" I held Shawn's hand as we walked on the sidewalk.

"I have an idea that I think you'll like"

We got to the small tattoo shop and Shawn sat down in the chair first. We decided to get matching tattoos that were going to go on our left wrists. It took about ten minutes for the tattoo artist to finish and Shawn took it like a champ, not seeming to be hurt by the needle repeatedly going at his skin. Then, it was my turn.

I was sat on the chair and watched as the tattoo artist came in with the tool, beginning to trace the template on my wrist. I squeezed Shawn's hand. The sensation felt like being repeatedly pinched around the same spot. After about ten minutes, I looked at my wrist and there was a permanent cartoon-looking, small paper airplane. My wrist was wrapped in plastic and Shawn and I went to the venue that he was performing at so he could get ready for the Q&A.

The story behind the paper airplane was relevant to our lives and I couldn't be more happy with how it turned out. Shawn explained to me how he noticed that whenever we missed each other lately, we would just get on a plane and go see each other. The tattoo is a reminder that if something is wrong or the long distance is getting to be too much, we are always one flight away from each other.
