《Welcome home - One Piece x Reader》My sincerest apology

It's been three days since Kid and Killer started staying at your place and as much as you thought you'd struggle. It's actually been normal.
You ended up talking a lot with Killer while you replaced his bandages. He'd tease you a lot but this time you were able to tease him as well. After two days he deemed himself ok to walk around freely. Which really meant he was bored and couldn't sit still anymore. In spit of this, he was still unable to use his arm.
Kid on the other hand kept his promise and made sure never to bother you; most of the time he was tinkering in his room and on the odd occasion he'd leave the house but never enter town. He would make quite a racket sometimes and Killer insisted that he could tell Kid to keep it down, but that was fine. You assumed it was his way to release so there was no point in telling him to stop doing something that helped him...
And then Killer accidentally saw the bandages on your wrist and found out about your bruises.
"Don't worry (y/n) I promise that I won't kill him in your house" Killer smiled.
"No way Killer! You're definitely lying!" You said as you blocked his path.
Your arms were spread out wide and your (e/c) eyes were shining like embers from a raging fire. He stopped and watched you for a moment. You were smaller than him and it was just adorable seeing you try to protect kid. He brought a hand to his face and sighed.
"(Y/n), you run a bakery right?" He asked.
"uh Yes?" You raised a brow.
'Where the in all blue is this conversation going' you sweat-dropped.
"Alright then... I'll be back soon" Killer said darkly, as he brushed past you and entered into Kids room.
After about two hours Killer came out of the room. He was followed by a very peeved Kid.
"From this point on, until your bruises get better, Kid is going to help you around the bakery" Killer announced.
'...what?'
"Wait what!?" You looked to Killer to see if he was joking.
He wasn't joking.
"He won't do anything to you (Y/n)..." Killer reassured.
'Yeah that's easy for you to say! He's your friend!' you screamed. 'but it has been very difficult trying to carry things around...'
"I... I guess if he's really ok with it? The help would be appreciated" you whispered.
"So it's settled then!" Killer said slapping Kid on the back. "He's in your care (Y/n)!"
Kid was glaring at Killer so hard, that even you were starting to see all the possible ways Kid was trying to kill him.
'This is gonna be interesting' you sweat-dropped.
----------------------------------------------------------
And that's how you ended up with Kid being in your bakery helping you out. He's been there for a week, and whether you want to believe it or not, he's been a big help to you. Yes he occasionally scowls at customers, and grumbles when he has to do menial tasks, but he follows your instructions exactly. He does all the heavy lifting and moving of ingredients whilst you focus on baking and selling.
"Thanks again for coming" you smiled
"Oh (Y/n), you know that I am a sucker for your baking. I never have a choice" Mama Tia laughed, which made me giggle.
"Oi firecracker! Where did you want this bag?" Kid popped his head out from the back, a large sack on his shoulder.
"Second shelf in the left cupboard" you pointed and he wandered back into the storage area.

"Honestly (Y/n)! How do you get all these strapping young men to bend at your will? A few days ago I heard that he was about to tear down the town and now you have him wrapped around your finger" she winked, whilst you laughed nervously.
"Well Mama Tia, if my friend was dying, I think I'd be willing to tear down a town or two... I don't really think I did anything special. Besides he actually doesn't like me very much" you sighed.
"He could've fooled me darling, anyway this old gal has had enough gossip for one day, I'll see you next week!" she called as she left the store, the bell jingling to signal her departing.
Kid peeked out from the storage area "That crazy old lady finally gone?" he sighed.
"That crazy old lady is one of the sweetest people I know, so leave her be" you corrected as you moved to your baking area.
You started to sprinkle some flour on the kitchen counter top and prep the dough. You started to knead the dough, whilst folding it over again and again. After a few seconds you realised Kid was just standing there, intensely watching you with the dough. You found that he often did that when he thought that you weren't paying attention.
"Is something wrong?" you asked.
"No..." he replied, still watching.
'He's still standing there. Is it me... or does he want to give this a try?' you smiled at the thought 'I mean I guess he is a very hands on type of guy'
"Hey Kid?"
He grunted to show you that he was listening.
"Did you... I don't know... want to give it a try?" you gestured to the dough.
He was definitely surprised that you offered. Actually, you were quiet surprised that you had offered.
'(Y/N) what are you doing!?' you panicked 'I don't know, I'm improvising!' you argued.
Kid walked over and awaited his instructions. You pointed to some hand sanitizer and Kid got the message. While he was washing his hands you pulled out some dough for him and placed it on the counter top.
"Alright just follow my lead ok?" you smiled as you started to knead and fold the dough.
Kid watched for precisely ten seconds and then started to pound the poor dough under his weight.
"Woah woah woah... Kid wait! What did the poor dough do to you?" you laughed as he growled and adverted his gaze so you couldn't see his blush.
"Here, like this?" You placed one hand on his arm and the other over his hand in order to help him correct his arm movement. "Now just apply pressure from the heels of your hands and smooth it out. Then grasp the edge and fold it back over. Once you've done that you twist it then approach from a different angle. Rinse! Repeat! Success!" you beamed.
For a split second you forgot that you were working with Kid. You were so absorbed in the fact that someone wanted to experience baking for themselves. Most people shy away because they get their hands dirty, but a little dirt never hurt anyone (as long as they thoroughly wash their hands with soap and water).
Kid was very stiff at first. He was not used to such close contact, however he decided to focus on what you were saying and follow through.
"Wow Kid! You're a natural!" you cheered as he started to get the hang of it.
A cocky smirk made it's way onto Kids face as he proudly kneaded the dough, a little snicker escaped your mouth.

'He looks like a child who has just found a new toy'
"Oh? So you have a sense of humour now? Do you?" he smirked evilly, before flicking dough at your face.
Shocked was the only way to describe your expression right now. Kid was now snickering at you're completely stunned form.
'Oh. no. he. didn't.' You placed your hand in a pile of flour, then clapped right in his laughing face.
Now it was your turn to laugh as Kid was now paler than he already was. What shocked you though was that Kid was now laughing along with you. After a good few minutes of laughter you fell into a comfortable silence.
Kid still had flour in his hair so obviously you took the opportunity to use it as an excuse to play with his hair. You reached up and ruffled his wild crimson hair, so that the flour would fall out. To your surprise it was extremely soft. You'd expected it to be rock hard from the style but it was like playing with feathers. Your stroking came to a halt as your eyes locked with two ember ones. You were silent admiring their blazing beauty.
"Did you manage to get it all?" Kid smirked as he gestured to your hand still in his hair.
"I uh yeah!" you snatched your hand away, laughing awkwardly, face completely flushed. "Let's uh, finish this up shall we?"
You both went back to kneading the dough as you explained how to finish the bread. You braided the dough and washed them with egg. Added a dash of herbs and threw them both in the oven.
---------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey firecracker! You're coming with me!" Kid snatched you up just as you locked up the bakery.
"Wait! What?!" You screeched. "Hey Kid! Put me down! Put me down right now!" you demanded.
Obviously, Kid ignored you and kept on walking through the woods. After a while you gave up on trying to convince Kid to let you go, instead you started to plan out a fully constructed lecture in your head ready for you to use as soon as he put you down. As he walked you looked around, taking in all the scenery. You hadn't really been in these parts of the wood before.
'Is that... water?'
Unfortunately, before you could evaluate the accuracy of your assumption Kid gently placed you down.
'Get ready for the worst twenty minute lecture of your life Kid' You swung round to face him, but you were left speechless.
Right in front of you was a serene mini waterfall. The light bounced along the surface of the water to make it look like diamonds had been scattered in the water bed. There was an abundance of nature around you. Birds, insects, flowers, trees and even deer's. It was truly beautiful.
"Girls like this kind of stuff right?" Kid grumbled.
You looked to him and saw that he was awaiting your reaction.
"Well... not all girls like this stuff..." you said. Even though his facial expression didn't change he definitely flinched. "But to me... It's wonderful..." you smiled.
Kid noticeably relaxed. Both of you stood in comfortable silence, you, taking in the scenery around you, and Kid, taking in the details about you. A little while after, Kid pulled out the bread he'd made. He broke it in half and gave you the larger chunk.
"You couldn't sell that loaf so don't let it go to waist" he muttered as he threw some to the ducks.
You smiled as you followed his lead. You managed to feed a lot of the animals but you were slightly worried about Kid's aim. Every time he threw a piece to feed a duck, it would hit them directly in the face. Of course you scolded him each time he did it. He would just grunt and say that they're in the way.
'Oh my gosh what a stubborn child'
"I'm sorry..."
Your head spun round so quick that not even whiplash could keep up with you. "E-Excuse me?"
"I said that I'm sorry. I shouldn't have acted out the way I did last week... I shouldn't have scared you..." Kid sighed as he looked towards the clear sky. "It's not everyday where a person is willing to put their neck on the line for people, or should I say pirates, that they've never even met before. Especially a little firecracker like you. But you did, and that scared me. Every-time something like this happens there's a catch, someone gets hurt or someone dies, and I fall for it every time. It's the reason Killer is in this state right now... I guess as soon as I saw that bastards insignia on your wrist" he flicked his head to the bracelet on your wrist "I immediately thought fuck I've done it again. I've fallen for another too good to be true scenario and dragged Killer down with me. It probably just sounds like I'm making up excuses but-" He frowned.
"But you're right! There is a catch for staying at my home" you stated.
Kid looked shocked. That was probably the last thing he'd expected you to say. "What do you-"
"The catch is that you can't tell anyone about me. You have to pretend that this place, these people and me, don't exist" you smiled.
"Wait what?... Why?" Kid raised a curious brow.
"Because if you ever want to come here again, the last thing you need is the navy or a bounty hunter on your backs. This place is meant to give people, or should I say, pirates a break..." you laughed.
"You want me to come back?" Kid cautiously asked.
"Of course I want you to come back! You're a prodigy baker! Unless, of course, you are planning to wreck my town out of spite" you smiled. "Now let's go home. I think Killer will have a mental break down if we don't get back soon" you started to walk off.
"Wait so does that mean you forgive me?" he called after you but you ignored. "Hey Firecracker don't you fucking ignore me firecracker!" He yelled as you broke into a sprint.
---------------------------------------------------------------
By the time you got back to the house; Killer was patiently sat on your sofa ready to give you both a good interrogation. For someone who hadn't even spent a good month at your house; Killer had definitely found himself a lot of things to worry about. Kid just slouched and acted like a rebellious teen whilst you listened to Killer ranting about how worried he was. After a while Killer stopped venting and set both you and Kid free.
"(Y/N)! OPEN UP! THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT!" a muffled voice cried.
"What the hell is it now?" Kid groaned
"Coming!" you called as you shot towards the door and opened it. "Alivia? What are you doing here? Oh my gosh are you ok?"
" N-No time !" she panted, leaning against the doorway for support as she caught her breath.
"(Y/n)! I've got some big news!" She looked you in the eyes and smiled her mischievous signature smile.
'What the hell has she done this time?'
