'Wait... what?'
"Kid you've completely lost me! What are yo-!"
"You're part of Law's crew!" He snarled "did he ask you to do this? Have you told him where we are?!"
'Law?... They know each other?... I thought this bracelet was supposed to prevent fights not encourage them!' You internally screamed.
All of a sudden the memories of being on the slave ship were starting to flood back to you. The fact that you were being restrained, completely powerless, the angry faces and the yelling. The fear was suffocating you. You could feel yourself on the verge of tears; your vision was getting blurry. You were struggling to support yourself, shaking involuntarily.
"Seriously Kid!? If I had a grudge against you why would I try and save your friend?!" You reasoned. "Why are you trying to make me out to be a threat to you?! Please stop Kid! You're scaring me!" You begged.
In that moment the door shot open and Killer was frantically looking around. His eyes landed on your ready eyed form. You'd never been so relieved to see him. Until you remembered his injury.
"YOU SHOULD BE IN BED!" both you and Kid yelled in unison.
"Like hell I should! Focus on your own situation for a moment here (y/n)!" Killer yelled back.
There was a moment of silence where Killer was able to get a better look at the situation, however you didn't like where it was going. You could practically see the dark aura slipping out of Killer's being as he clenched his fists. A few veins visible on the back of his hand.
"What the fuck is going on in here!?" Killer's voice was now dangerously low, so low that even you flinched.
"SHE'S WITH THE HEART PIRATES!" Kid spat.
"No Kid! she helped the heart pirates!" Killer corrected with his deathly calm voice "Now... Let. Her. Go."
You couldn't see Killers face, but right now, that seemed more like a blessing. His body language was basically threatening Kid to challenge his demand. There was a tense moment where it seemed as though Kid was having a very intense staring competition against Killer, but seeing as how Killer was wearing a mask, he obviously won. Kid released an irritated growl as he slowly released your wrists from the tight grasp. You shot up and made sure to create a lot of distance between you and Kid; his amber eyes watching you like a hawk.

"(Y/n) are you ok?" Killer asked, his face still fixed on Kids position.
"Y-yeah I'm fine..." you stuttered, the memory of his hands on your wrists like chains, was still vivid in your mind.
"Good..." Killer sighed. "I apologise for my captain's brash behaviour, like you mentioned earlier he's not good at using his words."
Kid shot a glare at Killer. The force Kid turned caused you to see water droplets fly from his still damp hair. Killer effectively ignored his gaze and continued on with what he was doing.
You quickly checked to see if the bracelet had been damaged in any way, only to let out a sigh of relief when you saw it was perfectly fine. Now that you were looking at your wrists you could see that you were in fact not fine. You could see bruises starting to for from how tightly he was holding you.
'That doesn't look good' you immediately pulled down your sleeves to cover them before Killer has anymore of a reason to start a fight in your house.
"I hate to ask you this now but could you please explain again why you wear that bracelet, It may clear my dumbass captains' head."
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Kid snarled.
"Well Kid, I also noticed the bracelet and, like any normal person would, decided to ask he about it! And guess what she told me!" Killer placed his hand face and shook his head in frustration.
"It's ok Killer. I was just shocked" you whispered taking a deep breath.
You were obviously lying. Kid had scared the living daylights out of you. You knew that it wasn't entirely his fault, and that he was still on high alert, so of course if he felt threatened he would act out. But all you could feel were the tight shackles on your wrists.
'Just breathe... You're ok... I think' you grabbed a random strand of hair and started to twist it.
You looked up at Killer for some confirmation and he nodded. You began to explain everything. How Law had appeared on your doorstep on the verge of death; the fact that he tried to convince you to be a part of his crew and failed so he gave you the charm to protect you. You also explained the other two charms that he'd failed to notice that were on your wrist. By the end of it all there was a heavy silence in the room. Kid showed no emotion, instead he just stared at his clasped hands.

"Kid?..." Killer prompted. "You owe something to-"
"Don't pressure him Killer... I don't want something that isn't sincere..." you stood up and dusted yourself off. "If you don't trust me that's fine, but please don't restrain me in my own home" your voice wavered.
Kid looked at you and as soon as he did a pang of guilt hit his chest. Your (e/c) eyes were now once again on the verge of tears and it was becuase of him.
"Excuse me..." you brushed past killer and ran downstairs.
"Hey! (Y/n) wait! Shit!" Killer cursed.
You'd already snatched your jacket and keys and rushed out of the house. You ran into the woods along the well-worn path. You felt bad leaving Killer alone like that, but you couldn't stay there. You wanted, no... needed to escape that situation.
'I guess now would be a good time to pick up my basket from the boys...' you sighed to yourself.
--------------------------------------------------------
You eventually arrived at Isaac's house. It was a bit chilly but then again you weren't exactly dressed for an evening walk.
You hastily knocked on the door, your memories still swirling around in your head. You were trapped. You felt trapped.
"Coming coming" you heard a muffled voice behind the door.
After a few seconds the door flew open and you were face to face with Jim. There was an awkward moment of silence where you forgot why you came.
"H-hey Jim" you smiled "The boys wouldn't happen to have my-"
"You're ok!" A voice cried from behind Jim.
You were suddenly tackled by a sobbing Isaac. Of course he was followed by a wailing Liam and a bawling Ian.
"B-Boys... Can't... Breathe..." you rasped "Jim!" you cried.
"Alright guys let her have some air..." Jim sighed as he pried the three boys off of you.
"W-We thought he was going to k-kill you!" Liam sobbed
"D-Don't you know he has a h-higher bounty than Law!" Ian cried
"W-We were so scared!" Isaac hollered.
"NO WE WEREN'T!!!" The other two protested.
As you watched the boys, you could feel the doubts and worries slowly pass away. You remembered that you'd survived and you'd made a life for yourself. You were still free.
You started to giggle, which then became a chuckle, which eventually turned into a laugh. You hadn't realised that you were crying but you were so happy it didn't matter.
"(Y-y/n)... are you ok?" Ian asked in concern.
"I'm fine Ian" you sat up and ruffled his hair "I'm very sorry for worrying you all" you smiled.
"You could at least look it (y/n)" Liam grumbled.
You ruffled his hair with no signs of your smile fading anytime soon.
"I really am sorry, but just seeing you guys ok... reminded me that I'm still free and I'm living my own life, no restraints" you giggled.
All three boys looked at you and gave you toothy grins. You all laughed through the tears.
"Why don't you come and have something to eat (Y/n)?" Jim offered and you nodded.
—————————————————————————
It was late now so you assumed that both Killer and Kid would be asleep in their rooms. You carefully opened the door with your free hand and gently placed your basket down. After locking the door behind you, the sound of footsteps racing down the staircase filled the eerie silence. In that moment you saw a very frantic, or so you assumed, Killer.
"(Y/n)! are you ok? where were you? Do you realise how late it is?" Killer ranted.
'Oh my gosh... what is he, my mother?' you giggled and he stopped his rant.
"I'm fine Killer, see? I just went to pick up my basket and lost track of time" you raised your arms to show him that you had no sign of injuries. "For someone so smooth I didn't take you to be such a worrywart"
You could see the tips of Killers ears go red as he flinched from your statement. this caused you to laugh even more.
"Look, I've talked to Kid and he's promised me that he won't bother you anymore" He raked a hand through his glossy blonde hair.
'Oh how I wish I could play with you... Keep it together (y/n)!' you scolded
"Thank you Killer, I appreciate it. I'm ok now" you smiled and killer just averted his gaze, his ears practically glowing.
'So he's smooth, but very vulnerable to his own attacks. Need to remember that little nugget of gold' you smiled to yourself
"Now Killer... care to explain what your definition of resting is?" Your smile became dark as you had already formulated the perfect lecture in your head.

Decompose!
Dear diary. When you read stories about some people missing and returning after years of absence claiming they were living in another world, your first reaction is to scoff and dismiss a story as a tall tale, right? I know I did. All the time. Until it happened to me and I no longer did. That day was today. Some god of thunder smote me. If it were Chris Hemsworth, I wouldn't mind but it was some barbaric Hitite god that abaondned Earth some four millennia ago. Yes, what can I say? I love the seventh art. I have more hours watching movies than any other activity, including sleep. What? Do you think I'm exaggerating? Maybe I am. I'll really miss hollywood the most. And my biggest regret is that I never got to visit the holy city of cinema. I did not come to another world to be a hero even though there was hints that they hoped I'd save it. I did not come with overpowered abilities able to, dunno, leap tall castles in a single bound, faster than a speeding crossbow bolt, be more powerful than a eight-horse carriage, the bounds. No. After the asshole god that murdered me brought me to his world, he gave me some boons from his discount bin and "The Power of my Soul (tm)". Forgive my french, I hope you understand I am rather upset at dying. And he somehow decided that my power is to recycle stuff. How awesome is that? Not much at first, I must admit. At least I got all my camping stuff and equipment with me. There's no lycra in the other world. I'll make it someday, but that day is not today. So here I am. In another world, in the middle of nowhere. I'm no heroine. As the song goes, I'm your basic average girl. And I'm assumed to be here to save the world. But almost everything can stop me, because I'm not named Kim. Wish me luck, diary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This novel is going have the following features: slow-paced slice-of-life No GameLit / LitRPG elements. Movie references. Sandra likes the seventh art. Journal / diary style crafting (includes chemistry, engineering and metallurgy) low magic technological advancement (for Sandra, at least. She is not against sharing though) personal relations clash of perception between the modern and ancient customs. bits of tension, fighting, and plot here and there. I won't repeat myself though. Once she crafts a good batch of soap, for example, she'll just note, "I crafted soap again." Once it is estabilished how she obtains compound X, compound X2 that is obtainable from the same process will also just be mentioned. I'll try to be as realistic as I can with the crafting, chemistry, and technology. Cover: Public Domain Image by StockSnap from Pixabay. No attribution required but we do it anyway.

Cry of the Mer Extras
A collection of Cry of the Mer shorts and extras. This will mostly be a series of scenes from Luna's point of view. Things from her past and scenes that have already happened, but from the different perspectives. It may also include the same for other characters such as a look into the pasts of Katie and Riley as well. Basically all the world building stuff there isnt time for in the main plot. This is mostly what I'll be writing on my phone on my breaks at work to keep readers having some content as I cannot work on Heart of a Mer while there. Most of you know the situation already, so this is my compromise for less main content. I do take requests if there's something specific you want to see.
