《Chasing a Spikey Relationship》Untitled Part 5

Your POV
Black really was quite a lovely color. It hid everything good and bad and left everything so very neutral and uncomplicated.
Half of my body was burning up, and the other half was frozen. I wasn't sure whether I wanted a blanket or a fan.
"Water," a voice croaked, and I felt as though I was outside myself, looking down at a girl on a gurney.
"She's waking up," a cloudy male voice said, "knock her out again."
"We can't. That much sedative could kill her."
"We don't have a choice."
The poor girl. She was being discussed among these people as though she was nothing.
"What happened to her?"
"One of the drones exploded. She's been exposed to Alpha and Omega radiation. I'm not sure how extreme the damage is yet."
"Then why don't we wake her up so that we can find out?"
"Because I need to stabilize her inner body temperature. We're not playing with easy radiation. This is the hard stuff. Gamma is nothing compared to what she's been exposed to."
"This is your fault."
"You think I don't know that? I wasn't planning for your girlfriend to be attacked by one of my drones."
The hooked up the girl to some beeping and flashing machines. I tried to float down to see her closer, maybe whisper a few calming words, but something tethered me near the ceiling.
"She's going to be so posed when she wakes up."
"If she wakes up."
"What do you mean 'if'?"
"Chase, she might not make it. Her body is changing to accept the radiation, and that hardly ever works out in the long run for anyone."
"Wake her up."
"Chase..."
"Wake her up now."
The shadowy man unhooked something from the girl's arm, and I felt a tugging at my waist.
It pulled me down, down toward the gurney, and I finally got a good look at the mystery girl.
It was me.
"Oh, (y/n), I'm so sorry," I could hear Chase say before my vision turned back to black.

System Only Gives Me Useless Gifts
Li Yun grew up with a system that gave him useless gifts. He wanted a reward that could prove the existence of the system, but ended up with abstract gifts like culture. Without physical proof, he was stuck wondering whether his mind was truly sane, all the while dealing with the reality of life. How will the "useless" system help Li Yun navigate medical school, hospital politics, criminal cases, treasure hunting, farming and cooking? Author's Note: This is a slice-of-life novel about a doctor with a mission-type system. It's written as a faux modern Chinese novel, so there are many 1-off characters and episodic mini arcs. Just a bit of warning, the tone of the story is very different after the childhood arc and jumpy as it chronicles Li Yun's life. I'm trying to make it less apparent in the rewrite, but there are still a lot of time skips. RR is the rewrite version, no set schedule. See webnovel for OG. scribblehub is a combo of both . I recommend scribblehub since it has pictures. Copyrights of the novel and cover are owned by Chocomug. Novel is free to read and download for personal use, such as offline reading, only.

GLADIUS // Eret X Reader
PHANTASM SERIES BOOK 4---Gladius, (noun): (in ancient Rome) a short sword.---Eret perked up as soon as you and Simon walked into the room, a wide and welcoming smile coming onto his face. He was softer looking than his father had been, but you could still see some of the similar traits. He had a head of thick dark curls, and the same sharp jaw that his father had had. He wasn't as bulky though - he was tall and thin - and his face was a lot more open. What separated him most from his father's likeness though was the colorful cape, and the large mirrored glasses he wore - swirling with colors reflected from the room. He stood from his seat when Maven let the doors swing shut behind her, that wide smile still on his face. "You must be the embassy.""And you must be King Eret." You said, stooping into a bow. "Oh, there's no need for that." Eret said as you rose from your bow. He stepped down from the dias where his throne sat - colorful cape trailing behind him - and came to stand in front of you, taking your hand instead. "I'm not really one for formalities." He grinned, shaking your hand. His palm was warm against yours, and you could feel some slight callouses - most likely from practicing his sword work.
