《I don't love》Part 26

Steve's POV
I put my shield on my back and dragged the helmet of my head. I looked at my reflection in a car window and sighed heavily. I didn't mean for this to happen. I didn't want to take it this far. But he's my friend.
I walked up towards Tony who stood right across from me. His iron man suit was put on again and I stopped a few meters from him.
"We can still stop this cap." He said and I shock my head.
"No we can't." I said as I saw something behind a few cars further away. Natasha had been running from something but suddenly stopped at the sight of me. I hadn't heard from her since our conversation.
"I know how much Bucky means to you.. Stay out of this one, please. You'll only make this worse." She had said to me over the phone. She sounded desperate.
"Are you saying you'll arrest me?"
"I'm saying this might have bigger consequences than we expect."
"It's worth it." I said.
"You know what's about to happen, do you really want to punch your way out of this?" She pleaded.
"If that's what it takes."
"I'm so disappointed in you." She had said and hung up.
My heart ached at the memory. I looked deeply in her eyes and she didn't take her of mine. I didn't know what she was doing. I didn't know her opinion on this. I only knew how much I love her. She suddenly disappeared and I turned to Tony again who hadn't noticed Natasha.
"I'm sorry Tony. But he's my friend." I said with a little sigh. Tony didn't make a movement.
"So was I." He said right before I grabbed my shield and the fight began again. My shield hit his suit hard making him fly backwards but he to advantage of the speed and came rushing to me with a punch. It hit perfectly in my stomach and I launched back a bit, gasping for air. I made a jump and got a hold of him but he flew up in the air which made me fall hard to the ground. Bucky came running up the hill and I threw him my shield and he caught it and hit Tony with it. Tony fell back a bit but kept defending himself through the punches as Bucky and I threw the shield between us. Suddenly Natasha came running so fast I barley saw her until she stood in the middle of the three of us. She looked at Tony, then Bucky and then me.

"Look at what we're doing." She said. Her voice was cold and emotionless as she looked around her. Buildings and cars were apart. Trees were laying on the roads. Bricks laid in piles from buildings that had been seen for the last time that day. Wanda laid on the ground below a tree and pressed her hand against a wound on her arm. Tears ran down her cheeks as she now and then cried after Pietro. Sam's wings we're laying broke on the ground with him nowhere in sight. My eyes went back on Natasha and she stared into mine. They told me everything. They showed me. Disappointment.
"You need to stop. Now." She said and Bucky and I looked at each other. Tony moved a bit but stayed quiet.
"And if you don't, I'll try to stop this until you do." She said with the same cold voice but with a confident expression. She took my eyes of me and looked at Bucky.
"Why did you accept this? Coward." She said and Bucky looked down at the ground in a shameful way. Natasha turned around and faced Tony.
"This is madness. We're all a team. He's your friend." She said pointing at me.
"He was." Tony said and Natasha shock her head.
"If he weren't your friend, you wouldn't be staying her, listening to me." She said and I raised my eyebrows a bit. "I'm not going to watch some of the most important people in my life fight each other. I'm not going to let that happen." She said and turned to me.
Her eyes met mine but they felt cold. "I don't care if I have to die stopping it." She said.
Natasha's POV
My muscles were sore and my lips tasted like blood. Wanda was treated at the hospital and Clint had went home to his family as soon as it all was over. They had stopped fighting after a while. They hadn't listened to me. Not at first. But when I had gotten a hit to the head and a broken hand along side with bruises and scratches, they stopped. Steve stopped first. Terrified that I was hurt. He had right to be. The headache wasn't something I was enjoying while working. They all had finally come to the senses to handle this in a different way. Being a lot of trials and questionings. The whole country had opinions about this situation and we were never left alone. Some people hated us. They didn't want "heroes". Other supported the idea. Steve however hadn't been coming to check up on me. He probably knew that I was fine, which I am but I still felt a little hurt. It's hard being away from him. Especially in situations like this one. It's all very complicated.

The clock just turned 03.07 am as two loud knocks landed on the outside of my door. I paced to the door with quick steps and opened it. Steve stood with his hands in his pockets and his face looked down at the floor.
"Steve?" I said, hearing the crack in my voice. He looked up at me as tears started rolling down his cheeks and my eyes widened in surprise. I quickly took him inside and he sat down on the floor with his back against the door. I sat down beside him and wrapped my arms around him as good as I could. He kept crying with his head facing the ground. I nervously tried to calm him down ran my hand over his back and put the other one in his hair. He suddenly grabbed me and I ended up in his lap. My head was pressed against his shoulder as he held me tight.
"I'm so sorry. I don't know.." He said and I nodded.
"Schh, it's okey." I said as I kissed his neck with my head on his shoulder. "It's going to be okey." I said and took his hand.
