Chapter 9
-------------
They went back in the same path in to the core Lockbourne territory, it was midnight and they were treading cautiously, they were in sight of the house they had stumbled across the last time they had been there. Their orders were pretty clear, grab the target a.k.a Charles and get the hell out of dodge and head straight to Colorado. If they could not grab Charles then put a silver bullet in his head. The team leader has debriefed his team on the action they needed to take.
The house was in sight now and they halted, one of them pulled out a binoculars and peered in, and he raised his hand and put all five fingers up. That meant there were five men visible outside the house guarding it. Then he pulled in an IR scope and peered in, he looked for a few minutes and put his fist in the air and flashed all his five finger twice. There were ten wolves inside the house according to IR scope. Fifteen against ten, not bad odds.
They waited to get in to position, they had two of the guards in their line of sight and the other three were on the other side. They had to take out the guards silently to retain element of surprise.
The team leader asked two of his men to come forward, he wanted them to take out the two guys simultaneously using the sniper guns, the men took positions and aimed their guns and took aim to the heads of their respective target.
The leader gave a thumbs up and they fired simultaneously, the two guards collapsed in an instant as the bullets entered their skull and exploded turning their brains in to mush.
The rest leapt in to action and in a flash moved to the other side of the house and fired at the other three guards. Surprise achieved, they quickly moved to the door and blew it open and quickly fanned out and there was no resistance, which was the first sign of worry. As they quickly scanned the room on the ground floor they did not find anything.
As the team leader looked confused at his team member who had earlier mentioned that there were ten wolves in the building his team member pointed his finger up.
All of them looked up in horror and at each other. Fuck!
As if reading their mind, bullets started raining from the roof and the men scrambled to take cover. Two of their men were however hit.

They started firing back at the roof but were blind.
"Switch to IR" The team lead screamed as the Roma wolves scrambled to put in their IR goggles and as they donned they started takin out targets and quickly they had taken out everyone in the first floor or at least that what they assumed as the firing stopped. Cautiously they took the staircase to the first floor and checked each room, most of the wolves lay dead in the hallway and the rooms with their bodies pierced with Roma wolves bullets. They looked through each body trying to identify it, none of them were Charles. They checked each room on the first floor and found it empty they regrouped on the ground floor.
"Where the fuck is he?" The team leader spat. "Toss the entire house, see if we can find something useful. Fuck!" he said out frustrated, their mission was a fail. Charles was not in the house.
As the team leader pondered over his next action one of his members whistled to get his attention and nodded his head to indicate him to come over.
The team leader walked over as the guy pointed at a door that he had just opened. It was hidden in plain sight but not that difficult to find when you were really looking for something.
"Looks like it leads in to a basement" The guy told him.
The team leader signaled his men to come over and told them "let's check this out"
As they cautiously trotted down the stairs guns pointed and once they reached the bottom the room was empty, it was evident. There was no light but there were a series of computer monitors lit and illuminating the room.
The team leader walked over to the monitors horrified at what he was seeing. There were live camera feeds from around the house. Someone sitting here could have seen them come at the house well in advance, but why was someone not there?
One of them men came up to one of the computer consoles and typed something.
"Sir" he said horrified "The feed is being live fed to a remote location"
"What?" the team leader asked.
"Someone remote is watching us" The guy declared and then typed something and the view on one of the monitors switched. It switched to the basement with their images.
"Someone is watching us sir" he told flatly.
They all spun to find the source of the camera and found one at the corner of the room.
Fuck!
Suddenly a small beep started emitting and everyone looked at each other horrified. Knowing what would happen next.

The house blew up in to smithereens as the well placed explosives blew up the house and vaporized everyone in a matter of seconds.
***
Charles viewed the monitors as they went blank as transmission seized. Standing next to him was Patrick Lockbourne seething with rage. Still not satisfied at the transgression the Roma wolves dared to do on his territory.
"Now" Charles said and looked at Patrick "Are you ready for the next phase plan?"
"Yes!" He hissed "Time to teach the Roma bitch a lesson if she think she can fuck with us" He pulled out his cellphone and placed a call "Do it!" he simply said and hung up.
Charles sighed, it was necessary evil but it had to be done. The new Roma needed to learn a lesson she will not forget anytime soon.
"I will need to leave your territory now" Charles said, he had overstayed his welcome and the Roma wolves might try another adventure.
"Where will you go?" Patrick asked.
"Your cousin is setting me up with another pack, it's time we shifted our base of operation."
Patrick nodded "Take care Charles" he told him and walked out.
***
Sebastian had not hear anything from his men. He was antsy and pacing in his office, the call was long overdue. When his phone rang, he dived for it and when he saw it was Nick calling he was relieved. Finally! He thought he would get some good news. Nick would only call if him men reach his territory.
He picked up the phone and barked "Nick! Finally.." but he was cut off by Nick from the other side.
"What?!" Sebastian said at what Nick was conveying from the other side.
Sebastian paused as the blood drained from his face "Nick" he said with absolute panics in his voice "What are you talking about?!" What was Nick telling him! It could not be true, no, not true at all.
"Nick" He whispered in desperation "Are you sure?" he asked stupidly knowing the answer.
He listened to Nick from the other side and then Nick hung up.
Sebastian stood frozen like a statue and then absolute rage took over him.
"Fuck!" he yelled and flung the phone in to the wall as it smashed and broke apart at the impact.
"Fuck!Fuck!Fuck!" he yelled out loud pulling at his hair in rage, his calm and composed façade completely broken.
He took out his rage on his office desk, throwing all the paperwork and the computer on his table all over the room and then flipped his desk over.
"No! Fuck, No. God No, fuck, fuck, fuck!!!" He kept yelling.
Alex rushed in to the room overhearing the commotion "What the fu...?" he paused at seeing Sebastian. He had never seen him in such rage.
"What's wrong?" he asked calmly, he probably could guess, the whole operation went south.
Sebastian paused looking at Alex. The look in his eyes was something Alex had not seen before. "God! What have we done...What have I done!" he whispered to Alex.
"Sebastian. What happened?" Alex asked calmly. Knowing the answer would seriously fuck him up.
***
Evelyn had just finished her lunch and was sitting in her office going through some financial papers that were sent over to her to sign. She being the sole Roma family member available right now she needed to sign off on any business contracts as a final authority.
She was trying to make sense of the financial jargon when the door to her office opened and Sebastian and Alex walked through.
"What's up guys?" she trailed off at the end as she saw the expression on their faces. They looked absolutely devastated.
Her stomach flip-flopped in nervousness, knowing that whatever it was it was not good and she could guess what it was.
Sebastian stood near the door, his head hung and shoulders sagging his posture showing defeat.
Alex walked over to her chair and kneeled next to her, his eyes showing absolute sorrow.
"It failed, didn't it" She asked, their operation had backfired and most likely the ten Roma wolves were dead.
"Yes" Alex whispered softly, she closed her eyes and sighed in defeat.
"That's not it" Alex said softly. She opened her eyes and looked at him, her eyes trying to scan his face. She realized she was scared, truly scared of the expression on Alex's face.
"As a retaliation to our attack they struck back Evy" Alex said softly.
She looked at him confused "What? What did they do?"
"They killed them Evy" Alex sobbed, tears streaming down his eyes.
"Who?!" She asked terrified.
"They had them killed and left a note... it said 'this is a lesson not to fuck with us, bitch and it was signed simply as L"
"Who, Alex?" she asked her voice raised in panic.
He looked at her with absolute pity.
"Your mother and Jeff"
And just like that her world stopped spinning.

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
