《Alaska: Queen of the Vampires》Chapter 17: Thorns and Roses

Arian and I walked in with his two cousins following behind us and the guards on either side of us. A chandelier made of diamonds worth millions tightly hung above us, its sparkly reflection falling right onto us.

A slightly older man with curly brown hair walked up to us and pulled Arian into a hug. "Uncle Poseidon," Arian greeted with a slight smirk gracing his face. Oh Jesus, that jaw.

The man's eyes turned to me and he let out a hearty laugh. "Quite a naughty one you've caught here, son," he teased. "Yep, I'm not letting her go," he said, pulling me closer to him.

"It's nice meeting you, sir," I said politely albeit a bit nervously. What if this man dislikes me? The others will definitely take this man's reaction towards me into consideration and then stop liking me as well. "Oh nonsense, my love! Call me Poseidon or Don in short. It's lovely to meet you," he said with a warm smile.

We followed him into his huge house as I looked around in awe. Poseidon's son Raven was getting married this week and we're here as guests. I'm kind of hoping that this would serve as a perfect distraction to borrow the sword of valour.

A soft giggle was heard as a young man and woman walked in with their arms around each other much like Arian and I. "Ah, Alaska, meet me son Raven and his lovely fiancé Summer." The girl came up to me and stretched out her hand politely while Raven and Arian did this bro hug thing.

Summer's the definition of a bright sunny day. I feel like a dry autumn night in comparison to her. Hearing my thoughts Arian rolled his eyes and threw me a warning look. I giggled and introduced myself to the duo. "Alaska, I'd like you to meet my sister Elle. If you guys need anything, please feel free to ask her."

My eyes landed on a brunette beside Summer. Now she looked like a brewing storm but of course Avian had to cough because he found her hot. "The name's Elle, your highness," she said to Arian while her eyes took a little detour to the rest of his body.

Arian cleared his throat. "It's nice to meet the woman managing this whole wedding. This is my mate, Alaska," Arian said with pride. I looked at him and my anger dissipated. The girl in front of me scowled and shook my hand begrudgingly.

"Hi, I'm Jamie. Let me show you guys to your rooms," a girl dressed in a lavender jumpsuit walked up to us with a smile. She had beautiful honey streaked hair with chocolaty eyes and rosy lips. We introduced ourselves to her and then followed her up the helical stairway.

The walls were a dark grey colour and the red carpet that covered every inch of the stairs contrasted well with it. Avian tried slipping in a few flirty comments every now and then but they were all in vain when she announced that she was in love with another man.

"The boys and I are going out for a drink. I'll see you in a while," Arian planted a soft kiss on my forehead and left with his cousins by his side. "Let me take you in," Jamie offered. I smiled at her and walked into the room that Arian and I would be sharing.

"Would this guy that you are in love with happen to be Raven?" I asked. I saw the way she looked at him before. It was the same way that Noah would look at me. Hopelessly in love yet happy. A slight blush took over her features before she turned away to look at the picturesque view that the balcony offered.

"Please, no one can know," she sighed sadly.

I squeezed her hand lightly. "He'll only be happy with his mate. One day, you're going to find someone that will make you the happiest woman alive. Until then, just hang in there," I said softly. She looked at me and smiled. "You don't love him, do you?" She asked. Her question took me aback for a moment but my hesitation is what surprised me.

"It's too early," I defended.

"I understand. It was nice speaking to you but I'm afraid I must leave now. The rose starts at 5pm so I'll see you at that time at the poolside. Prince Arian will drop you off." I frowned. "Rose?"

"Yes, it's basically a cleansing ceremony for the bride before she begins a new journey as a married woman. All the unmated females along with the bride are supposed to bathe in the rose water filled in the pool outdoors. None of the males will be allowed so you don't need to worry about being seen by anyone," she smiled and left.

I fell asleep for a while and was woken up by the sound of Arian entering the room. "What's this?" He asked, picking up my two piece beige swimsuit. "Planning to put up a little show for me, sweetheart?" He teased.

I rolled my eyes at his childishness and told him about the Rose ceremony. "No way, you're not leaving my fucking room in those pieces of cloth!" He snapped while throwing the swimsuit at me. I got out of bed and threw a pillow at him angrily.

"You have absolutely no right to stop me! I'm wearing it and it's final," I yelled back at him and stomped off into the bathroom with the two piece. I slammed the door onto his face which made him resolve to banging onto the door like a madman.

"Don't fucking test me, Alaska! I really don't want to have to punish you for being a spoilt little bitch!" I got into the shower and eventually the sound of the water against my skin overpowered his voice.

How dare he? Things were so good between us but he just had to turn out to be a narrow minded cave man that always wants his way. When I came out, he was gone. But guess what? He locked the door and there was a note attached to it.

You're not leaving until you learn to behave.

-A.

I gritted my teeth and kicked the door angrily. Five minutes later the door was broken down. Avian dusted his pants and grinned at me. "Ready?"

...............

"And that woman right there is the Princess of the Northern Empire," Jamie whispered as she pointed out to a slender woman in her 30s. "She'll give you all the gossip that you need to know. You're in good hands." Jamie excused herself to use the washroom as I made my way towards the Northern princess.

She smiled at me as she saw me making my way towards her. "Beautiful evening, don't you think?" And it truly was. The water was cool against my warm skin and the fragrance of the rose petals that filled the water soothed my anger. The trees that surrounded the pool were brightly lit with fairy lights.

"Summer seems to be having a fairly good time," I remarked. "I'm Alaska by the way." "Everyone knows that you're Arian's mate, doll. I'm Arden," she said. Hearing that pricks' name, the smile on my face morphed into a frown which didn't go unnoticed by the Northern princess.

"Let me guess, he locked you up in the room because he didn't want you to be eye-raped by any of the other males that may sneak a glance?" She laughed. I looked at her in shock.

"You're good," I mumbled. She rolled her eyes. "I was just kidding. I'm pretty sure everyone on your floor heard the fight between you two. It's not new for us royals to lose our mind every now and then," she pointed out. I laughed and looked up at the sky. It's getting late. What's taking Jamie so long?

I excused my self and slid on my fluffy grey robe as I walked towards the nearest washroom. I spotted evil Elle from a distance who had her hands wrapped around a male. My mate, to be exact. I tiptoed towards them, hoping that they'd be two busy to notice the very loud and angry heartbeat of mine.

"So tell me Arian, how is it that you're so fit? The boys in this kingdom are one step away from being ogres," she sighed dramatically and twirled her hair around her finger. Arian rolled his eyes at her and continued typing away on his phone. He may be a bastard but at least he's not a cheating bastard.

"I was wondering if you'd like to have coffee," she said after a while, thrusting her breasts out enough to be noticeable. Arian glanced at her for a moment. "Sure," he said.

OH I AM GOING TO KILL THAT SON OF A BI-

"Black; no sugar. Thanks."

He handed her a ten dollar bill.

And with that, he walked away leaving Elle with her mouth wide open. I smiled proudly. I'm still mad at him though. I crept back to the washroom to look for Jamie but I didn't find her anywhere. Too tired to go back to swimming and gossiping, I decided to go back to my room.

Someone had already fixed the broken door. As I walked in, I saw a girl sleeping in my bed. I felt my heart squeeze a little at the thought of Arian being with another woman but I sighed when I got a closer look at her. "Jamie?" I called out. She jumped up in a startle and brought the blanket to her chest.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know where else to hide," she said softly, running a hand through her wet hair. I sat down next to her and asked her what happened. "I met my mate who by the way is a total jackass who thinks he can boss people around just because he's a prince. So he starts barking out orders on how I should start packing and get ready to leave my career and my life behind so I kicked him in the balls and here I am," she mumbled.

"You can stay here. I'll text Arian and tell him to sleep with Adrian for the night," I told her. She changed into the clothes that I lent her and snuggled back into the sheets.
