《Gentleman ♡》9) "Yea, whatever."

Adrienne

As I come into work, I find myself looking for Tupac, Not so I can see him, but so I can avoid him.

But he's probably already avoiding me.

I'm pretty sure we both know that Saturday night shouldn't have happened. He was out of it and I was so tired that my eyes were starting to cross.

It was a mistake.

"Hey Dada." I say, hanging my purse on a hook next to hers. She just looks at me and then walks away.

I walk after her, tapping her shoulder. "Umm hello bitch. Did you hear me speak to you?" I chuckle. But she gives me the same look again.

"Did you have fun Saturday night?" She asks, folding her arms.

I furrow my eyebrows.

When I don't answer, a smirk forms on her glossed lips. "Yea I overheard you and Pac's lil play time the other night."

I could've sworn everybody was gone when I left that night. But her and Lesane broke up like two years ago, why is she even mad about it?

"Dada I.." I hesitate, not really knowing what to say. I definitely don't owe her an apology because we're all grown and she's never even told me the full story behind her and him. And besides, its not like I even wanna date him.

"Yea. Whatever." She says, walking away.

Someone taps my shoulder, making me turn around. Its one of the security guys that stand outside of Lesane's office during work hours.

"Mr. Shakur wants to talk to you."

"I'm tellin you man. We on thin ice. Yesterday I saw a detective sittin out front." Q says, folding his arms.

"Hell yea. If they step with a warrant, we screwed." Raheem adds.

I glance between both of them, thinking of my next move.

"Igh. I'll move the cash tonight. As for the detective, I'll take care of that too." I say, making Q suck his teeth.

"You keep on sayin that. Just remember if one of us go down, we all do. And If I go down first, I'm taking this whole circus with me." He says, before getting up and walking out.

"No disrespect Pac, but he right. We gotta hit that last bank and wrap this up." Raheem says, before leaving too.

I rub my temples, feelin a headache coming on.

A soft knock makes me look up at the door.

"You wanted to talk to me?" Adrienne asks as she walks in, stopping in front of my desk.

"I wanna talk about Saturday night." I say, chewing on the end of my pen.

Of course what happened that night was nice, but it shouldn't have happened yet. I gotta secure this last hit and make sure I'm free and clear of the authorities before I get close to this girl.

The life I'm living now could ruin hers.

I wanna be better for her and not drag her into my shit. Adrienne just nods, sitting in the chair in front of me.

"You know that can't happen again." I say, looking at her face, but she's not looking at me. She's looking down at her hands in her lap.

"I think from now on we should only speak when its necessary." I add, her face doesn't change. Does she not care?

"Igh?"

She finally looks up at me. "Okay." She says, getting up from the chair, swinging her hair over her shoulder and leaving my office.

Fuck. Is she mad at me?

I try to brush it off as I remember what I have to do. I open the file cabnet beside my desk and start to take the stacks of money out, piling them into a duffle bag.

After repeating the process with four other bags, I call two of the guys in and tell them to take the bags to Andre's house and hide them wherever he tells them to.

The music booming from downstairs lets me know that the club is in full function. I look at my wrist watch as I get up from the desk. Just as I open my office door, a hard smack makes me hold my face.

Kiada.

"You just fuck every bitch that walks in this club huh?" She spits, pushing me back into my office.

"Woah. First fucking all you better remember who you talking to." I say, making her roll her eyes.

"Cut yo high and mighty crap Lesane. You just gotta keep reminding me that you can't be tied down, don't you?" She says, waving a finger in my face, making me suck my teeth.

"Look. I already told you what the deal is between us." I say, waving her off.

Me and Dada dated through high school. We broke up about a year after I opened the club. Our relationship became toxic and she was taking my money and spending it on other niggas.

So eventually I cheated back, which I know wasn't the right thing to do. It seemed like it at the time though.

I never really broke up with her, I just stopped fucking with her and we both knew why.

About a week ago I slipped up and spent the night with her. Ever since then she been tryna control me again and ion like that and I'm not gonna tolerate it.

"I just knew you couldn't wait to get your hands on her. You still ain't shit." She says.

I rub my temples again. The headache is full force now.

She is right about one thing though.

I ain't no good. Never have been. Never had a reason to change, until now.

"Look Kiada. I got a business to run. So if you would come back during my office hours." I chuckle, walking past her, out of my office.

I stand at my place on the balcony.

"I hope you don't got a lil crush on her. Cause I can nip that in the bud real quick." She says, standing beside me.

I glance at her, shaking my head.

"Mane please go on wit allat."

"You forgetting that I know about your lil operation you got going on here." She says, I just look at her, before sucking my teeth.

"Tell her. It won't change shit. Ian got no feelings for that girl."

I bite my lip. I don't lie. But Kiada is a crazy bitch, and I don't need her to be the one to tell Adrienne everything she needs to know. It has to be me.

"So you think she won't give a damn that you shot somebody in front of her and then pointed the same gun at her? Or that she's working for the man who caused her to have to find a new job in the first place?" Kiada has a smirk on her face. She knows she has the upper hand.

I don't respond.

"That's what I thought." She says, before starting to walk back down stairs.

"Kiada." I call her name, making her turn around.

"Don't test me." I say, she scoffs before continuing down the stairs.

Yea Im kinda upset that Lesane doesn't wanna talk anymore. But what did I expect?

I feel like he used me, and if Dada is mad at me about what happened, then they clearly still have something going on and I dont wanna be caught in the middle.

I glance up and see Tupac standing at the balcony as Kiada comes down the stairs. Yep, there has to be something going on between those two.

For some unknown reason, Lesane decided to close BC early tonight, but that doesn't stop the rest of my shift from passing slowly, especially without anyone to talk to. I go to the back and grab my things before heading outside to my car.

"Adrienne Walker."

A female voice calls my name, making me look around.

My eyes land on a face i've seen before, but I can't remember from where.

"Detective Sanders. I wanna ask you some questions about the owner of this club." She says, and then I realize where I know her from.

Its the same woman who asked me questions after that robbery, my last day working at the bank. "Um. Okay." I say.

"How well do you know Mr. Shakur?" She asks, making me furrow my eyebrows.

"Not well at all, can I ask what this is about?"

"I have reason to beleive that your boss is connected to the string of bank robberies that have been occuring in the past month." She folds her arms, thats when I notice she has a tape recorder on the inside of her jacket.

When I don't respond she clears her throat.

"Have you ever seen any unusual amounts of money in Mr. Shakurs possesion?" She asks.

Yes. That time when I went into his office and could barely see him because of the large stacks of money on his desk.

"No. I haven't, and actually I have somewhere to be so if you could excuse me." I say, unlocking my car door and getting in before she could say anything else.

Could Lesane be apart of those bank robberies?

I mean theres no way. He's always at the club and he might be kind of thug like but he doesn't strike me as the bank robbing, murderer type. I shake the thought off as I start the car.

Today has been a weird day.

Tupac

~•~

I sigh heavily as I pull into my driveway.

I don't like being at home. I guess its because I spend most of my nights at Black Cotton.

But there was nothing else for me to do there tonight and I got something else planned so I decided to come home.

As I open my front door, my dog runs up to me. Her name is Renny. Since i'm never here she keeps the house gaurded and my lil sister comes by and feeds her and lets her out to use the bathroom twice a day.

"Hey mama." I say, rubbing her back. "You missed me?"

I keep thinking that maybe I should'nt have said anything to Adrienne about the other night. Maybe I shouldve just pretended it didn't happen.

Now I gotta avoid her and God knows a nigga don't want to.

It seems like she mad at me, but maybe that's best for now. Especially since I got Kiada crazy ass on my back.

Telling her that im the one who killed that nigga she worked with would probably destroy the little bit of relationship i've built with her, especially coming from somebody else. I know I'll have to tell her eventually.. but not yet.

My door bell rings just as I take my jacket off.

Perfect timing.

Renny barks loudly and I shush her before opening the door.

"Detective Sanders. Good to see you." I smile, inviting her in.

"I heard you been asking around about me so I thought it was fitting to invite you to a young niggas humble abode." I say, closing and locking the door behind me.

"Look. Lets cut the crap here. I know its you." She says.

"Let's sit before we discuss the business." I chuckle, "aint nobody in a rush."

I lead her out to my patio.

"So. What was you saying?" I ask, lighting a cigarette.

"Lesane. If you turn yourself in and give me the names of your accomplices, I might be able to get you a deal." She says, pulling out a notepad.

"Marla. Like I said, I have no idea about the robberies, but let me ask you this: Does anyone know your here tonight?"

"No. I'm trying to make this easy for you before anyone else gets involved." She says.

I smile.

"Oh, no need. You just did."

I hold up two fingers and a shot is fired, a bullet right between her eyes.

You didn't think i'd actually give her a confession did you? I look around as the men I had hiding start to come out of their places.

"Aye get out here and clean this up. Then take ya black asses home. Thankyou and Goodnight."

I say, before going back into my house.
