《Dr Luthor - Supergirl AU》Recovering

Alex's POV
Maggie had been framed for murder halfway through my rehabilitation so Kara came and visited me with updates. The whole time, I knew something was off with her but I hadn't been able to get the truth out. We sat at the bar, drinking and laughing together when Lena arrived.
"Hey, lover!" Kara yelled. Lena looked over at us and walked briskly to a seat across from Kara. I noticed that she scowled at Kara, who smiled in return.
"What's going on?" I asked. "You guys seem... awkward. What happened?"
"Noth..." Lena tried to assure me but Kara jumped in with a short sentence that made my hair stand on end.
"I proposed and she said 'no'." Lena's jaw clenched and Kara just sat there smiling.
"So, you two aren't together?"
"We had a talk after and I completely understand her point." Kara grabbed Lena's hand, who looked a fair amount more relaxed once Kara said this. I got a text from my fugitive girlfriend and figured I had to go out to where she was and meet her there.
I smiled at them and told them I would grab some more drinks but instead of going to the bar, I headed out to the back alley. Once I got there, Maggie slowly walked from behind the wall and ran into my arms.
Kara's POV
Lena and I sat at the bar, waiting for Alex to return with any type of liquor that could get us drunk. When ten minutes had passed and she hadn't shown up, I figured she had gotten caught up and decided to go find her.
"Can you wait here for a bit? I'm going to go see what's taking Alex so long." I stood and walked around the bar for a while before stumbling upon a sound coming from outside. I opened the door to the alley and my eyes widened when I saw Alex and Maggie kissing. "Maggie? You're here?"

"Actually my name now is Kara. I picked it in honour of you." I let my gaze go from confused and slightly pissed to grateful. I giggled like a dork at the thought of anything being named after me.
"Well, thank you. How long are you staying?"
"Not long. I need to make sure I only stay for a few hours at a time. I am staying in Central City, living life to the fullest. Well, kind of."
"Do you need our help? Do you need anything at all? If you do, let us know."
"Everything is fine, Little Danvers."
"Good. I'll leave you two to it then." I walked back inside the bar and went back to Lena. I told her about Maggie being back.
"So she isn't wanted anymore?"
"Actually she is hiding out in Central City until Alex can win her case." I looked up at Lena, who looked pensive. "What's going on? You don't seem too excited by her being fine."
"No, it's not that. I am glad she got away but, you need to know something." I got a message just as she was about to say the next thing. It was from the hospital:
'Doctor, there has been a bad car collision, you are needed to tend to some injuries. Please get here as soon as possible.'
"I am so sorry, Lena. Emergency..." I pointed at my phone. "I'm on call, so..."
"Go get them, Doctor Danvers." I kissed her on the hand and grinned before leaving for work.
The two teenagers were put on the bed for me to begin surgery. I went into action and an hour later, one was in a room, ready to start recovering. His girlfriend, however, was a different story, with internal bleeding and multiple broken bones. This was going to be a hard one.

Seven hours later, I sat down at my desk and put my head in my hands. The poor girl had died just as I was starting to get somewhere and start actually fixing her. I had come to terms with people dying in my arms a while ago but I still felt like dirt afterwards. Lena came in and comforted me for a while and once I felt a little better and I thanked her. I tried to tell her to leave but she wouldn't.
"Kara... I was wrong. When I said that I wasn't ready to get married and that I would only end up hurting you and..." I cut off her rambling.
"What are you saying?" Her glowing emerald eyes met mine and she smiled a little before saying what she did next.
"Will you marry me?"

The friends found themselves home in the real world, exactly as they'd been the night they were taken, as if no time had passed... except only three came back. Hi there! This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. He's willing to train her, and Maya has grand plans of becoming a pirate captain. Maya is going to gather a crew, grow in strength, and carve her legacy into the world with blood. Requiem of the Sea is a vast seafaring story. The world is very large, and I enjoy trickling information in about it slowly as opposed to dumping it all at once. The story is updated once every two days. Thanks for reading!

Its a culmination of the things that made me laugh, cry and smile when I first read them and It has been a personal wish to craft a story that makes me feel the way I did when reading those stories for the first time. Its gonna be a slow ride but worth it. Promise. Photo by Johannes Plenio on Unsplash
