Leah paced back and forth in her room, "I don't understand, something has to be causing this."

"Ka, nothing is wrong. I told you. You're safe at home."

Leah's head whipped toward her Aunt, "This is not my home. My home is back on..." Her words faltered, her brain was trying to find the correct word, "Back on... Earth!"

"Earth is thousands of light years away. And why would I ever send you to that primitive planet?"

Leah took a step away from her Aunt, labored breath as she took a turn and ran out of the room. She was determined to find her way home, to find her family, her friends, and the man she fell in love with. Her footsteps stopped, at the sight of Zor-El.

"Ka."

"Uncle?" Her eyes flickered to her aunt, shaking her head, "No. No, this is... Cannot be real. This is not real. This is not real." She turned away from them, running back where she came.

Her eyes stopped on her Uncle, "It's the fever again."

"I remember playing right there." Leah's heart thumped in her chest, walking in slowly, she knelt next to a table, "And I made this crack when I tripped over chasing after my mother."

"Yet, even after you fell, you got right back up again." Leah twisted her head back to the doorway, where her father and mother stood smiling down at her, "Nothing can keep you down."

Anger flared inside Leah's chest as she yelled at her mother and father, "You did this to me! You, you did this to me!"

"Ka!" Kara was there suddenly, in a white gown, similar to her black one, "Stop! Stop it!"

"No!" Leah pushed Kara off of her, "You and father are behind this!"

"Ka." Kara grabbed Leah's shoulders gently, "What on earth are you talking about? Why would Aunt Astra and Uncle Non try and hurt you? You are their loving daughter."

Leah shook her head, her eyes still trained on her parents, "No, I fought both of you days ago back on... Um... Why can't I remember?"

"All nightmares end the longer we are awake."

"No, wait... I still... I feel it. I have glimpses of... ...flying."

Her mother smiled down at her, "We only fly in our dreams, Ka."

"I have friends there who need me. Family..." A glimpse of a blonde woman sitting on a desk flashed through her memories but left as soon as it came.

"Ka."

Leah turned her head to see her little cousin, smiling up at her, "Kal-El."

Kal-El moved over to her, holding up his toy to her, "Do you remember how to open it?" Leah chuckled at him, taking the object from his hands. She spun it around, moving it to its correct position. It blared open, revealing a hologram of the universe. "Look, Ka. There's Krypton."

Kara walked over, wrapping an arm around Leah, "Isn't it beautiful?"

Ka nodded her head, a smile on her face, "It's so beautiful."

Katie sighs, her eyes falling on Alex as the two stood in the apartment. Katie actually lived here, and Kara not being there as her roommate made her feel awful. She put a hand on Alex's shoulder, "We'll get them back."

Alex looked over at Katie a smile on her face, but it dropped as she looked at the reflection in the mirror. Astra was inside the apartment. Alex twirled around, pulling her gun out and fire rounds. Astra lifted Alex up, choking her. Katie pulled her bracelet off, sapping the power from Astra.

Astra fell to her knees, "I came here to help Leah, not fight." Katie looked skeptically at her, but released her hold on Astra, allowing the solar radiation to flow back in Astra's body.

Alex glared at her, "You tried to kill her before. Why should I trust you now?"

"Kara and Leah saved me from a death without honor. As a fellow soldier, I expect you understand the meaning of that." Astra spoke quickly, waiting to see if Alex or Katie would attack her, once she knew that she was safe she spoke again, "Leah and Kara have been attacked by a telepathic parasite known as the Black Mercy."

"It has them in some sort of coma." Katie states, her bracelet still off, her hold tight on it, "Their brain waves are still active. It's like as if they're awake."

"The Black Mercy has her trapped in lifelike hallucinations. Her perfect fantasy life. One that grows more and more real with each passing moment."

"How do we wake them?"

"They must reject the fantasy themselves."

"But if they don't realize it's not real, how can they reject it?"

"I can tell you how to help her. But you have to trust me."

Alex moved closer, her voice growing darker, "The last time I trusted you, six soldiers died."

Astra's head turned away from her, her eyes falling on photos on the small stand, one of Alex and Kara as kids, another one of Kara, Katie, and Winn all smiling goofily in the camera, and the last one was new. It was of Leah and Winn holding hands together, and Kara cringing in the background of it. "I knew there was more to you and my daughter and niece."

"They're my family." Katie snapped.

"If they are your family, and I am Leah's mother and Kara's Aunt, what does that make us?"

"Nothing."

"Do not allow your hatred for me blind you now. Are you ready to listen? Or not."

Winn pointed at Hank, "Okay, so... So you were her?"

"I don't have time for explanations." Hank's attention fell on Alex and Katie, "There is no way you two are doing this. This is way too risky."

"It's the only way that we can stop the Black Mercy. We can modify our virtual reality tech so that we can enter into Kara and Leah's minds and convince them to reject the hallucination."

"Unless Astra is playing you."

"Have either of you considered what would happen to Kara and Leah if you do this?" James suddenly questions from his seat.

Winn nodded, "You're basically pulling them out of their perfect heavens. I mean, that's gonna be slightly traumatic."

"Agent Danvers and Miss Schott have considered it, that is why they came here."

Alex moved closer to Hank, "Kara and Leah are gonna need James and Winn by her side when she wakes up. I know there are security issues-"

"Take them. Take them."

Katie pursed her lips, "I thought you were going to have to argue that point a lot harder."

"I'm beginning to see why they value them so much. I'll see you back at the DEO after I deal with Cat."

Katie cringed, "Have fun with that."

🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆~🎆

"Hey, Leah." Winn spoke softly, leaning in closer to her, "Wake up."

Katie breathed in, looking at James as he paced the room, "We'll help them, James."

James turned his head to her, "And I know you are trying everything in your power, but what if this doesn't work? It might kill, Kara-and Leah."

Katie sighs inwardly, she wasn't in her super suit, she was basically in a DEO suit, "We know that James, but it might even kill Alex and I, but we've got to try something." Her head turned to see Alex, Hank, and Max walk in. Her glance moved back to James, "And we're pushing limits here to save them."

James gave a wary glance to Max, "I can see that."

Alex walked over to them, "Katie, James, can I talk with you two outside real quick?"

"Of course." James nodded, Katie following behind, she knew what Alex was about to ask James, she had suggested it to her.

"James." Alex spoke as soon as the door shut, "I-We need a favor."

James' eyes flitted over to Katie, before nodding, "Name it."

"I know Director Henshaw. If he thinks we're in trouble when we're plugged into that thing, he's gonna pull us out, whether we've saved them or not. I need you to stop him. We either come back with my sister and Leah, or I don't come back at all."

James had no words, he could see the determination on their faces. These two women were about to risk their lives to bring them back. So he did what he could. He gave them a slow nod, "Katie... Winn, he'll try and pull you out as well. You're his sister."

"I know, and if he does, punch him. Knock his ass out if you have to." Katie opened the door, staring at the headsets Max was currently tinkering with.

"The helmet will instantly connect you to Captain Marvel and Supergirl's consciousness. That will allow you to experience whatever's going on in their heads in real time. It's pretty brilliant actually."

Hank looked over at them, "Remember, you have to get them to reject this fantasy themselves."

Katie had already handed her brother her fake glasses, pushing her hair behind her ears she allowed the helmet to be placed on her head. Winn moved over to his sister, pulling her in for a hug, "You better come back."

"I will."

"Is this going to work?" Alex questions, messing with the helmet.

"Don't know," Max responded bluntly. He gently had them sit down, "Sweet dreams."

Katie gasped as she sat up, the bright light almost blinding her immediately. She wobbled as she stood, turning around, breathing heavily, "Oh my God." Her eyes flickered around the room, "I'm on Krypton."

Winn noticed the two different helmets on them, "Uh... um... Why are the helmets... different."

Hank breathed inwardly, "We only had one VR headset, despite we having many before. Agent Schott is currently using a prototype of a device we plan to merge consciousness with."

James pointed at it, "Is that safe for her to wear?"

Max plopped down in a seat, "The worse it will do to her is merge Captain Marvel's thoughts, memories, preferences, with hers."

"So she might come out... acting like L-Captain Marvel?" Winn's voice dropped slightly.

"That is only a theory, Mister Schott. I am sure your sister will be safe."

Katie walked through the halls, searching the rooms for Leah. She paused when she heard voices.

"Ka was a natural in court today. Kal-El, you would've been so proud of your cousin."

"I noticed your mother and I were not the only ones who came to watch you today."

"Del-Or seems like a very nice young man."

"Boy. And yes, I like him very much." A chuckle followed, "Clearly, Ka does, too, or she would not be spending so much of her free time with him."

"Father!" Ka gasped, but her smile stayed on her face.

"Leah." Katie called out as she walked into the room. Her eyes flickered over to Non and Astra, shocked to see them dressed so nicely.

"Who are you?" Ka demanded, holding her cousin close to her.

"It's me, Katie." She walked further into the room, "I'm your best friend. The sister of your boyfriend."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Leah, you're suffering from the effects of a creature called the Black Mercy. It's created this illusion to incapacitate you back on Earth."

"Earth?"

"It's where you've been for the past 12 years. I've come to take you home."

Ka looked skeptically at Katie, "I am home." She turned to her mother, receiving a nod, she quickly turned and hit Katie over the head. Ka opened her hand, taking her cousin's, "You're safe, Kal. I'm here."
