《One Last Fight》Throwing Up Therapy

Luckily with Trevor, I didn't have to decide on a movie. He found one for us. My laughter filled the hotel room as we watched the television. We were drinking from separate bottles of wine, and although I was drunk, Trevor was tipsy.

He was uncomfortable until alcohol got into his system. When I asked him why he was nervous, he told me he didn't know how to act. From how it seemed, I broke up with Kinnick when I called off my engagement. He didn't want me to believe the only reason he came to check on me was so he could make a move.

We were sharing the same tray of chocolate-covered strawberries. He insisted on paying, but my card was already in the system, so it was paid for before we got it. This was our third round. Somewhere in between all of these, we ate at least twenty each.

"Do you want to go swimming?"

He turned his head to look at me. "Now? It is late."

"So?"

"So, the pool is closed. No one is going to let you in."

"They will because I have money."

He snickered. "What are you going to wear? I know you brought nothing with you."

"Come on," I rolled my eyes.

"You can't swim in those clothes," he followed me out of the room. "You will have nothing to wear."

"I figured I am going to get more of my stuff tomorrow," I shrugged. "So, whatever, right?"

Casey at the front desk continued to tell me no. Trevor was trying to stifle his laughter because miss Casey didn't find the situation funny. She kept shaking her head until I slid one-hundred dollars toward her.

I turned to Trevor with a grin on my face as we walked toward the pool. Casey happened to send us in with warm towels also. She seemed to have a new outlook on life after sliding money her way.

My friend continued to ask me what I planned on wearing if I got these clothes wet. Someone has never been swimming in their underwear. I stripped out of my t-shirt before dropping my shorts. He shrugged at me as I motioned to the clothes on my body.

"Why are you waiting to get in?" He cocked a brow at me as he pulled off his shirt.

"It is kind of cold."

"This was your idea."

"Maybe it wasn't a good one."

He came toward me. "I think it is a great idea."

I put my hand out, stopping the smirking man. "Trevor O'Malley, back off."

He snickered. "Why?"

"Because you are going to push me in."

"No, I am not."

As he shot for my hands, I tried to stop him. Yet, he saw an opportunity to grab my legs. He threw me over his shoulder, tightening his hold on me as I balanced on him. He was asking me if I was ready, but he didn't care because he was jumping before I answered. The water pierced my skin as I submerged underneath its surface.

When I surfaced, he was waiting for me with his black hair all messy and a wicked grin on his face. "You are a jerk."

"The water isn't so bad anymore, is it?"

I splashed him. "You tell me."

"Boston!" He laughed. "You are going to pay for that."

The second I saw him cock his arm back, I knew I was screwed. A large wave came towards me, taking me out. I fell into the water as the water smacked me. Under the water, I could hear his laughter echoing in the room. I launched myself back up.

"You ass!"

He held his stomach as he continued laughing. I splashed him again, instantly regretting it. The water was cold, and I knew my lips were purple. Although my teeth were chattering, I tried to act like it didn't bother me.

"Still think this is a good idea?"

I shrugged. "It isn't that bad."

"How far can you walk into the deep end?"

"Five feet," I snort. "How far can you go?"

"I don't know," his shoulders lifted. "Let's find out."

He held out his hand for me to grab. I moved toward him, gripping his fingers with mine as we walked toward the deep end. I held onto him tightly as I pushed onto my tippy-toes, trying to walk as far as I could. He tugged me along, keeping me afloat as he continued declining into the pool.

There was a smile on his face when he realized he was comfortably touching six feet. He turned to me with excitement. I tried to give him two high-fives, but I started sinking. I should have pushed back up, but his hands were grabbing me before I could.

"Are you okay, little buddy?"

"I am good," I stuck out my thumbs. "Just don't let me drown."

"You got it," he grinned.

He found my inability to float hilarious. As much as he wanted to make fun of me, he wanted to help me at the same time. His hands were on my back, holding me up as I hovered in the water. It made me feel weightless as he helped guide me through the water.

I found my salvation. Without my books to get lost in, I felt lost. Yet, floating on the water made me feel light. All of the burdens, pain, and memories of things I didn't want to remember weren't that heavy. Pennywise told me, you'll float too. I saw it differently than he intended. It said my baggage wasn't hard to handle.

"How are you doing Bo?"

"I think I am going to throw up."

His hands were grabbing mine, flipping me right side up. "Alright, let's get you to a bathroom."

"I don't know if it is from all of the wine or the pain -"

"As long as we get it out, and you feel better."

"Throwing up therapy?"

He snorted. "Your sense of humor is the best."

"Thank you," I clutched my stomach. "I am not feeling good, T."

"Did you eat anything today?"

"Strawberries," I laughed. "We literally ate them together."

"Doesn't count," his head moved back and forth. "We need to get you some food."

"What do you consider a strawberry?"

He turned around, pointing at me. "You need a meal, you little shit."

"What are we going to find at this time of night?"

"I don't care as long as you eat something."

When we got off of the elevator, he was rushing me toward our room. He pushed the door open, helping me toward the bathroom. His hands were holding my hair back before I could empty the wine into the toilet. Tears were falling down my face as the pain clenched at my abdomen.

"You are okay," he rubbed my back. "Let it all out."

He handed me a wet washcloth and helped me wiped my mouth. As I laid against the counter, he sprawled toothpaste onto a toothbrush for me. My body felt sore. Every inch of me ached as I sat on the bathroom floor. He kneeled in front of me, handing me the toothpaste.

The weakness in my arms made it difficult to brush my teeth, but I hated having dirty teeth. Trevor helped me stand from the floor to rinse out my mouth. It made me think about the time Kinnick brushed my teeth for me. It made me think about the time we stayed at the hotel in Vegas. It made me think about what happened this morning.

"You are a good friend," I sniffled. "What would I have done if you didn't track me down? Wait, how did you track me down?"

He laughed. "If I told you, I could get in trouble."

"I won't say anything."

He grinned down at me. "I tracked your credit card."

I gasped. "How?"

"I'll show you when you can remember."

"I am going to remember all of this."

He kept me in front of him, so he could hold my waist. His hands were tightening every second I kept slipping. The grin on his face made me scrunch my nose up. I furrowed my eyebrows, wondering what his problem was as he stared at me without saying anything.

"What is your problem, dude?"

He shrugged. "I don't want to say I am happy your heart is broken but I am happy that we got to spend together."

"Me too," my eyes drooped. "Me too."

"Is it bedtime?"

"I think so."

He nodded. "Got it. I am going to change into a different pair of clothes."

I pointed finger guns at him. "See you out there, buddy."

"Do you want to wear different clothes?" He looked down at me. "I have extra clothes."

"If we are sharing clothes, does that make us super best-friends?"

"Sure does, little miss."

I snickered. "Good. What made you bring extra clothes?"

"John said if I found you, I had to stay with you."

"He is such a dad," I smiled. "I love him."

He handed me a t-shirt. "Here. Do you want a pair of sweatpants or something? I have two of the same pair."

"We can be matching!"

"That is exactly what that means."

"Perfect! I will meet you in bed."

He shut the door as I walked away. I stripped out of the wet clothes on my body before pulling on the clothes he lent me. Not even a few seconds later I heard the door click, and he was calling out to me.

"Are you done changing?"

"All good out here!"

He came around the corner, wearing the same thing I was. A black t-shirt and gray sweatpants covered his body. I raised my shoulders with excitement as I stuck my hand into my pockets and fanned out my sweatpants.

"Twinsies!"
