《One Last Fight》I Never Wanted To Die From Asphyxiation But I'll Let You Choke Me

I wasn't sure what was going to ruin this. My nerves or John's unexplainable smile. It was no question while my legs were bouncing up and down after leaving breakfast the next morning. Although Bo loved the excitement that had rushed over John's body, she couldn't help but question it. Not to mention the creepy smile he continued to give her in the rearview mirror.

Whenever he would look up, I would shoot him death glares, hoping he wouldn't reveal anything. I wasn't worried about Bo putting the pieces together. There were no hints toward what the day would hold. The only thing that made her wind fill with questions was John's newfound happiness.

We didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I wasn't treating her any different than I normally would. Other than treating her to breakfast, and showing her around the city, I didn't want to make this day obvious. Bo would skeptical, and if she asked what we were doing, I wouldn't be able to lie to her.

I turned to her with a blindfold in my hand. "I need to ask you to do something."

Her eyes fell to the bandana between my fingers. "This is where you kill me, isn't it? This whole trip was a setup. I have no family. Nobody will look for me. We share the same friends, so they won't ask why I went missing. Oh goodness, I was not ready for this to happen this soon."

"What?" My brows furrowed. "This soon? You thought I was going to kill you?"

"Well, yeah," she throws up her hands. "This relationship is too good to be true. I figured you would kill me, and I would wake up in my old bed. The whole thing would be a dream. Now it is really happening. And you!"

She turned to John and Riley. "I thought we were friends, but this was a huge part of the plan."

I stared at her with amusement. "Bo, this is a surprise. I need to blindfold you. That way, you won't see where we are going."

"Darn right, this a surprise," she started shaking her head. "You're going to blindfold me long enough to take me to a secluded area. Then you are going to take it off, and then bang!"

She smacked her forehead. "You are going to shoot me!"

John was losing his shit in the front seat. All he could do was laugh. The curly-haired girl next to me barely slept last night. She tends to do this when she gets tired, but I haven't heard this story before. Every plot in her head was full of crazy ideas, but this was top-of-the-shelf, the greatest story I have ever heard. Definitely award-worthy.

"Do you trust me?" I cut her off.

Her eyes narrowed. "Yes, I trust you. That is why I am going to let you blindfold me anyways."

Before John could pull in front of the Avengers Station building, I brought up the blindfold, but a smirk on her face stopped me. "What?"

"This is kind of kinky."

John snorted as my mouth fell open. "You are ridiculous."

"I never wanted to die from asphyxiation, but I'll let you choke me," she winked.

She was lucky we were in a car with two other people. Despite the other people sitting with us, I could feel my stomach stirring. The familiar need for her grew ten times more as she dropped her left eye into a wink. I started shaking my head with hopes of taking my mind off of the tightness in my shorts.

As my hand tied the bandana behind her head, I leaned forward, pressing my lips to hers. The car we drove came to a rolling halt. I stared at the building my girl knew nothing about, worried about what would happen when we got inside. Would she be upset with a second proposal? How is she going to react when this all pans out?

John must have realized I was freaking out because he set his palm on my shoulder. I grabbed Bo's hand, leading her toward the entryway. An employee handed us tickets with a smile on her face. She was well aware of the silent policy John asked for when we arrived. I wanted nothing to ruin the surprise.

When we stepped into a hallway filled with screens, the room went dark. The room flashed with red as the screens around us said, 'security scan in progress.' Then a green light settled over us before it went black. A lady came onto the screen with her hair pulled back into a ponytail.

"Welcome to the Avengers Station."

The second Bo heard her voice, she gasped. "That is Maria Hill!"

"The Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network. My name is Maria Hill."

Bo ripped off her blindfold. "Oh my god. This is real!"

She pointed at the screen with a huge smile on her face before turning to me. "I told you!"

Her eyes were full of wonder as she stared at the woman. When the younger kid on our right motioned towards the doors, Bo's mouth dropped. I sat back, watching her run toward everything as if her wildest dreams come true. There wasn't a display that we walked by where she didn't tell me what or who it was.

I found myself more interested in the franchise I knew nothing about when I found out how much it meant to her. Slowly, I was becoming a fan. I was a fan of anything that made Bo happy. Sometimes I find that being the only reason I can look in the mirror nowadays. When she saw the life-size shield thing with a star in the middle, she jumped up and ran toward it.

"Do you know what this is?"

I gulped. "Something that the one guy -"

"Captain America," she nodded, encouraging me to continue. "Steve Rodgers."

"Why does he have to have two names?"

"You are going to tell me you wouldn't pick a superhero name if you had the chance to be one?"

John looked me up and down as he and his husband sided with Bo. "You can't choose Hawkeye. That is Clint's name."

"Why couldn't I just be Kinnick?"

Bo gave me a fake smile as she nodded. "Maybe not a good idea."

"Why?"

"Oh look, it is Kinnick!" John gasped. "Wait, isn't that the dickhead who beat me up in an alleyway a few days ago? Now I'm not really sure who I should be running from."

I looked at Riley. "Put a muzzle on your bitch."

We continued down the hallways until Bo stopped. My eyes looked up at the plaque on the corridor, 'Iron Man: Hall of Armor.' She slapped her hands over her mouth as she looked at the variety of suits standing before her. My hand had to grab her wrist for her to take another step.

"Can we take these home?"

I make a lot of money - not that much money. "I can probably hire someone to steal them off of the black market."

She snickered. "Please, don't."

Her eyes looked at the suits as her heart ached. I know she wanted them to be real. She wanted nothing more than the empty hand to reach forward and ask her to join him in the world known to others as the make-believe world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"It might not be real to some, but it is for people like me," she smiled at the suit in front of her.

John nodded. "It is real for us."

As she stared at the suit of the man she loved, Riley handed me the clear box he had been carrying in his bag. I stared at the Arc Reactor, well, I think that was what John called it. The lights on the inside lit up at the flick of a button. A ring I picked out for the wedding sat in the center, waiting for her to see.

She turned around to look at me but didn't expect me to be on one knee. "What are you doing? Is this a proposal - oh fuck!"

So much for a romantic video. John started laughing, and I couldn't contain my own laughter. "Oh goodness, and John is recording this, and I cursed."

I looked down at the word written on the back of my hand. "I shouldn't be alive unless it was for a reason. I'm not crazy, Bo. I just finally know what I have to do. And I know in my heart that it's right. Being with you. Loving you. And finally proposing to you the way you deserve. So, for the second time this month, will you marry me?"

"Do I have to say yes?"

I bit the smile on my lips. "I really hope that you do."

"If I say no, can I still have the Arc Reactor?"

"Probably not," I shrug my shoulders.

"I said yes the first time."

"Bo -"

"I am not feeling it this time."

John's face was turning red at the inability to breathe. I pointed toward him. "Don't condone this. Listen, I'll wait until you say yes."

"That's okay," she smirked. "I can do this all day."

"I thought you would say that," I opened the box, pulling the ring from the reactor. "Because -"

She looked at me as I flipped the ring to show her the inside. Her mouth dropped as she read the words carved in the ring. "I'm with you till the end of the line."
