《A Daughter of Thanatos( Nico di Angelo )》Chapter 23

Nico headed back to us and told us to start driving again.
"My back hurts! Somebody carved on my back!" I whined. Nico groaned. "You're so difficult." He said.
He squatted in front of me. "Well?" He asked.
"Well, what?" I asked. He groaned. "Are you going to get on my back or what?" He said.
"WHAT!?" I screamed. "I said-" He began, but I cut him off.
"I know what you said." I snapped at him. "Hurry up, we have to leave soon." He said harshly.
I groaned, but got on his back. "Happy?"
"No, you weigh a ton." He said. I smacked the back of his head. "I didn't know those stick-like-arms would be able to carry anything." I muttered loud enough for him to hear.
Nico stopped moving. He squatted back down. "Get off." He said.
"No, my back still hurts." I said, refusing to get off his back.
"My back won't be able to support me anymore if you don't get off." He said.
"Too bad. Now let's go. You're starting to give me a headache." I said. He huffed, but started walking again.
"You're annoying." He said.
"And you're a jerk." I shot back.
"You're fat." He mumbled. I smacked him again. "Shut up, will ya?"
"What makes you think l'll shut up?" He asked. "Cuz I told you to. Duh..." I said.
"Right..." He hoisted me up and I laid my head on his shoulder. He smells nice...
What is that? Axe? No, he seems too girly for that. Dove? Too feminine.
"Would you stop sniffing me. It's weird." Nico said. I stopped sniffing him and laid my head back down. "What kind of shampoo do you use?" I asked him.
"Why?" Nico asked. "You smell nice." I admitted.
"Erm? The one at the hotel?" He said. "Oh." I said.
"You need to take a shower soon." I said. "I will drop you if you don't shut up." Nico threatened.
I held on tighter to his neck. "Okay, okay!"
"Nico? Where are we going?" I asked him. "To Selene's psychotic boyfriend."
"Oh." Was all I said.

We arrive to the car. Everyone was already there. "Hurry up." Shadow said. I got off Nico.
"Clara! You can sit with me!" Andy said, jumping up and down on her seat. I smiled and went to her when Nico grabbed my waist. "She's sitting with me." He declared.
"Who said I will?" I was gonna go to Andy, but Nico had his arm firmly around my waist. "I said."
"No way lover boy." Shadow said. "Clare here has to sit in the back with the rest of us gals." He rolled his eyes.
"I can take care of her." He told them. "So can Andy." Shadow said. Andy waved her arms in front of him. "Daughter of Apollo. Healing powers. Obvious choice." She said before whipping her hair at him, briefly slapping on the face.
I choked on a laugh. "It's fine, Nico. I wasn't able to hang out with them for a long time. Plus, I won't be annoying you now." Shadow and Andy helped transfer me inside the car.
"Fine." Nico huffed.
"Let's go." Shadow said.
I fell asleep in the car. Listening to Andy and Shadow fight over which super hero was better.
"Batman all the way!" Shadow shouted. "No way, Superman is waaayyyy better than Batman." Andy said.
"Superman is so fake! Batman created his own gadgets with his smarts." Shadow stated. Andy rolled her eyes. "Puh-lease, Superman's powers are freaking awesome!"
And that's when the dreams began.
"Clare, how'd you like my early birthday present?" Violet asked.
I was back at the vacant park. The same park where Violet keeps getting her revenge."It was wonderful." I said, sarcastically. Wait- Birthday!?!?!
"Isn't your birthday next week? " She asked. I suddenly just remembered it was going to be my birthday.
"Yes..." I whispered.
"It's also the day before my father murrdered me and you broke your promise." She said bluntly. I flinched.
"Haaah... Let's get this thing started." She said.
She snapped her fingers and I was tied to a chair. "What are-"
"SHUT UP!" She yelled at me. She slapped me. "You're a liar!" She slapped my other cheek.
"You promised!" She kicked me on the stomach. "I trusted you!" She punched me in the stomach.

She kept on punching, kicking, and slapping me. When she seemed to have taken a break, I began to speak. "You hate him." I managed.
She glared at me. "Who?"
"Your dad. You hate him for abusing you and not loving you," I said and she rolled her eyes. "Did you just figure that out?"
I ignored her comment and continued. "Yet your acting just like him. Taking your anger out on someone else."
Violet's eyes seemed to grow angrier. "How dare you!" She screamed. A knife suddenly appeared in her hand. She charged at me.
She seemed to be aiming at my stomach. I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact to come.
Instead, I heard clashing noises. I opened my eyes and couldn't believe what I saw.
Nico was fighting up against Violet. He clashed his Stygian iron sword against Violet's knife. She transformed her knife into a sword. When did she become so good with swords? I don't know... "You aren't suppose to be here, you know?" Nico said to Violet.
"Shut up!" She yelled at him. She swung at Nico again. Nico saw this coming and ducked down. "What are you doing here?" He asked. "None of your business!" She screamed.
"Actually, it is. I'm the son of Hades. King of the underworld. God of dead and riches." He explained to her. "And why should I care?" She asked. "Because your dead and should be in the underworld." He said bluntly. Violet rolled her eyes and cut his cheek.
He glared at her murderously. "You shouldn't have done that." He growled. He started attacking her with all sorts of sword techniques. Violet was starting to show that she was getting tired. "Had enough yet?" Nico asked. "No." Her hits became slower and much sloppier. She paused and that was all Nico needed to plunge his sword on her chest. She screamed in fury and the landscape they were in was crumbling down. "I'll make sure you pay, Clarissa Jade Walker! I promise."
With one last scream, she finally dissolved. My vision blurred.
"Clara!" I heard Andy scream. "Ow..." I groaned. "Are you okay? Do you need anything?" She started to ask. "Nico?" I asked.
"He also fell asleep. Both of you guys kept moving and talking in your sleep. We've been trying to wake both of you up for awhile now." We heard a groan and turned our heads towards Nico. "Ugghhh. That was terrible!" He groaned. "Y-You were part of my dream?" He shook his head. "No, not a dream. A nightmare."
"How'd you do that? Going into my nightmare." He shrugged. "I have no idea, but I never want to go back in," He poked my forehead. "there." "Erm, Clare?" Shadow asked. "Yeah." I said. "Why are you and Nico bleeding?" She asked.
I looked at Nico and noticed that the there was a cut on his cheek where Violet cut him. I also had cuts on me, which is usual. "It's nothing." He said. "Can you pass me some ambrosia?" He asked. Andy passed him some and she started to treat my wounds. "I know it's not nothing, Clara." She whispered to me. I sighed.
"I'll tell you later." I muttered. She nodded. "I'm your best friend, Clarissa. I was the only one who knew you had an obsession with eating baby food. To this day, I haven't told a soul. You can trust." I slapped my forehead. "You just had to bring that up?" Andy grinned and nodded.
"It was Violet." I sighed. "Vi? But isn't she with your aunt Carly?" She asked. I shook my head. "When we were gone, her dad came back. A-And... he killed Violet." Andy gasped. "Vi's... d-dead?" She asked. I nodded slowly. She started to sniffle. "How?" She asked. "Her dad escaped jail and beat her to death." Tears began to roll down her face. I pulled her into a hug.
"I'm here, Andy." She cried into my shoulder. "What's wrong with her?" Shadow asked. I just shook my head sadly.
Cole drove us quietly through.
