~~ y/n's pov ~~
a couple days pass, and things with clay are only growing tenser. every time i feel like i can progress he pulls back, and then i get too nervous anytime i think he might be doing something.
-
it was late one night, and i was laying in my bedroom, switching from app to app mindlessly. it got too boring to handle, so i wandered into the living room. i looked out at the balcony and admired the night. there was not a cloud in sight, and the stars were shining brightly. an idea hatched in my brain, and i headed over to the boys hallway.
i knocked on george's door first, and poked my head in.
"hey! what ya up to?" i asked him quietly, trying to hide my excitement.
"oh hey y/n, umm nothing really. i was gonna go to sleep i think, did you need something?" he answered from deep under his covers.
"oh no it's fine, sorry just go to sleep." i answered hurriedly and shut the door quickly. i hoped i hadn't woken him up or he would be incredibly grouchy the next day.
i turned on my heel and knocked on clay and nicks door. i heard a 'hmm?' in response, so i opened slowly.
i leaned through, and clay pressed a finger to his lips and hooked his thumb to the other bed in the room. nick was passed out, muttering nonsense.
i stifled a laugh, then gestured to clay to come out to the hallway. i slipped back, and headed into the main room grabbing my shoes.
he emerged shortly after, pulling on a shirt. i looked away until he came up behind me, my cheeks burning.
"are you okay? whatd you need y/n?" he asked me, voice filled of sleep.
i stood up and faced him with a mischievous grin.
"well i was going to go stargazing, and wondered if you wanted to join!"
it was a simple enough question, but there was a big piece of information i had left out.
he split into a pleased grin and bent down to get his shoes too, a silent agreement. i celebrated in my mind until he stood back up and headed for the door.
i grabbed the apartment keys quickly, and grabbed him by the arm. he was heading for the elevator, but i pulled him to the stairs.
"wha- y/n! cmon the elevator will be quicker." he expressed in annoyance, but stopped when i faced him again. his eyes caught mine and i didn't hide the blush on my cheeks this time.
"no, this way. ive got a plan." i said and started up the staircase, still pulling his arm.
his goofy laugh carried through the echoey stairwell as we climbed. we arrived at the 'top' level and as i went to open the door leading outside he stopped me.
"wait, i don't think we're allowed out here. what if an alarm goes off?" he said, eyes nervously scanning the hallway we were in.
i pointed at the note placed on the frame which conveniently said the alarm was off until further notice.

"sorry, sorry." he said with a chuckle and i pushed through.
the roof was rocky and cold, and Clay shivered as he went to sit down.
"no no no, we aren't done yet. stand back up!" i said excitedly and prodded his shoulder.
"what do you mean?" he asked me confused, then looked up. there was another roof but there wasn't any obvious stairs.
i couldn't contain my joy as i raced over to a hidden door. i pushed on it, revealing a fire ladder leading up to the top.
clay stared at me dumbfounded, and i laughed at his expression.
"ive become friends with one of the landlords, and he told me about this secret spot. i technically wasn't supposed to show anyone, but i won't tell if you don't."
his confusion turned impressed and he nodded forwards, indicating me to start going up.
the ladder wasn't super stable so i moved slowly. as i turned the first corner i lost balance, but clay grabbed my hand to stabilize me.
i grinned in appreciation, and when he started to pull away i squeezed his hand to mine. a simple act, but it gave him the reassurance that i was okay with it.
i had realized that george was right. there were lots of signs that he was interested, but he was worried about something.
i was glad he didn't want to pressure anything, but damn it if i wasn't sick of it.
we finally reached the second roof and i pulled his body closer to mine. the wind was soft but chilled, and there was not a cloud or building in sight.
i finally let go of his hand and found a spot to stay. it was getting pretty late, and since i felt adventurous without worrying about consequences, i decided to sit on the edge.
i carefully got to my knees, then swung my legs around to sit cross crossed, staring out at the city skyline.
it took him a bit, but Clay joined me on the edge, his feet dangling off the edge of the roof. He leaned back on his hands and i could see the moons reflection shining in his eyes.
those eyes. they were becoming my weakness.
we sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, just taking in the view. he had moved fully on to his back, and pulled me down with him.
"you're not gonna make me lie here all alone will you?" he asked me with a cocky grin, and though i rolled my eyes i settled down next to him.
"you are literally the biggest dork i've ever met; swear." i giggled and poked at his shoulder trying to get him to move.
he finally took a hint and stretched his arm around my shoulder, pulling me tighter to his chest.
i glanced up at him, but he was completely entranced by the sky above us. i followed suit and we just laid there, watching the sky.
"y/n, quick, make a wish! there's a shooting star!" Clays voice cut through the silence as he pointed to the star flashing quickly above us.

a slight frown spread on my face as i shut my eyes and made my wish.
"i wish that Clay would stop messing around and just kiss me."
i thought i had said it in my head, but as i felt his body tense under mine, i came to the realization i had in fact not.
i propped up on my arm and looked at him, but he didn't look back. from the dim light we had i could see his face burning red, and my heart twisted with guilt.
before i could make another bad decision, my instincts kicked in.
i reached out and gently touched his shoulder, and to my suprise he didn't pull away. my eyes flicked up and down his face, trying to get any signs of what he was thinking.
but suddenly, what i had been wanting for so long finally happened.
the kiss made my stomach explode in butterflies. it was soft, but i wanted more - needed more. it felt almost electric.
my fingers ran through his hair as i slowly pulled him closer to me, trying every way to deepen the kiss. he pushed forward and my heart nearly exploded.
i finally broke the connection to catch my breath, and as i slowly glanced up i sighed with relief. i imagine he and i looked similarly gone; red cheeks and messy hair.
he cupped my face and slowly dragged his fingers along my cheek and jaw, sending goosebumps down my spine.
"do you know- ho- wow." he stumbled around his words and i released a pent up giggle at his attempt.
"take your time good sir." i teased him as i moved closer to his body, nestling my head on his shoulder.
he let out a pleased sigh and quickly grasped my hand, fiddling with my fingers. it seemed like a distraction for him, like he was trying to gather the courage for something.
after a beat he finally spoke up, voice much deeper and quieter than normal.
"you want to know my wish?" he asked me simply and my head perked up.
he let go of my hand to guide my head back on his shoulder, slowly playing with my hair now.
another steadying breath and he spoke up again.
"I dunno, it's kinda stupid but- i wished that my feelings would be- like- returned? does that make sense? i- i dun-"
i softly hummed a response, slowly starting to fall asleep. the adventures of the night were catching up to me and his gentle touches were safe and inviting.
"alright well then, i guess, would you be like- erm- up to like-"
his fingers started getting shaker and his voice not as steady as he tried to get the right words out.
"id like to be your girlfriend if that's what you're asking. if that's not it though, then you didn't hear anything." i muttered out, mixed with lots of yawns.
He tensed under me, and then chuckled as what i said finally settled.
"really? just like that? cmon man - i had a whole plan and everything..." he teased and my half conscious mind decided to tease back.
"i think you said about 3 coherent words, i saved you some trouble. if you really insist though, i suppose i'd let you try again." i said with a sleepy giggle and he pulled me tighter to him.
"y/n, would you make me the most epic gamer in the world and be my minecraft gf?" he whispered in my ear and my fit of giggles only grew.
"i would want nothing more." i rolled my head to peck his cheek and he sighed.
"pog."
i nearly rolled off the roof from laughter. he had
to grab me by the shoulders and guide me back down; laying my head down in his lap, slowly stroking my hair.
my eyes started to feel heavy and i quickly felt myself falling asleep.
before i could get comfortable however, Clay shook me awake and rolled up to his feet.
"i already carried you back once, and i'm not doing it again. get up dum dum." he rocked back and forth on his heels, hand stretched towards me.
i carefully laid my hand in his, and he caught me in his arms. i wrapped my arm around his, clinging on to him as we made our way back down the fragile stairs.
we slid back in the main doors, finally in the building again. i relaxed as the warmth hit me and the overwhelming tiredness was becoming more apparent.
i gave in and let us take the elevator down to our floor, my legs starting to drag.
"oh my god y/n - pick up the pace! you're gonna collapse in the hallway and this time i leave you here." Clay said to me, his deep chuckles cutting his words up.
after what felt like an eternity, we made it to our apartment and i quickly unlocked the door, pressing my way inside.
i ungracefully kicked my shoes off and started making my way to my room, the comfort of my bed calling my name.
i muttered a good night to Clay but he grabbed my wrist before i could slip away.
"i don't even get a good night? we're breaking up." he said with a stupid grin, and i punched his chest.
"fine-" i started but i got cut off with a kiss. once we broke, my face heated and i buried my face in his chest.
"goodnight fart face."
and there we stood, in the middle of the kitchen. embraced tightly, in the pitch black, whispering dumb insults to the other.
when we finally separated i basically floated back to my bed, letting my body melt into the mattress and blankets.
i felt my phone buzz from my bedside, but when i went to go turn it off i was greeted with a tweet.
@ dreamwastaken2: i have completed the task once deemed impossible, i am now officially the BEST GAMER EVER!!
the grin i found on my face was astronomically large, and i couldn't help but feel a little proud.
@ noty/u/n: pog.
the end. <3

Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Whatever that is. Unlike most dungeon cores, though, she's missing something very important. A dungeon. Stuck out in the open, above ground where she's definitely not supposed to be, with not a cave in sight, or any other land form besides miles and miles of ice and snow, Devin's not sure if she can survive. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. I will rewrite this at some point and make it so it actually has plot. Check out my wordpress © [koallary] and [Haven in a Dangerous World], [2017].
