I expected him to attack me, but he didn't. Instead, he picked up a charred used gun on the ground and fired one shot at Tails' plane which was coming down for landing.

"No!" I yelled. Too late. The bullet clipped Thalia's ear and whizzed towards the overheated engines. My brain stopped functioning when the plane exploded. Flaming metal debris rained down on the town.

"Tails!" I yelled, tears brimming my eyes. I ran to the site of the explosions despite my wounds. I found his charred goggles laying on the ground.

"Tails!" I cried, tears now streaming down my face.

"Trix! It's no use." Thalia said. I didn't listen to her. Panting, I finally found the body of a yellow, two-tailed kitsune. 

"Tails..." I whispered under my breath. He was badly injured. His fur was singed and he had multiple burns. I lifted him up and checked for a pulse. I found none. 

The world collapsed around me. Nothing made sense. I let out sobs and tears rolled down my cheeks. I buried my face in Tails's fur. It used to be so soft. I missed his softness.

The stars shone bright that night. But to me, they were all falling, collapsing onto my shoulders like the weight that pressed down on me, making it impossible for me to stand.

I didn't care about anything else. Not my burning shoulder or back. Not the flaming debris around me. 

My amulet turned a bright pink, but I didn't care. Suddenly, it started glowing brighter and brighter. The whole town was flooded with pink light. It brushed through every person and every object, blowing past everything like a solar wind. I looked up to find that all the buildings and dead civilians had returned to their normal state. However my friends' injuries had not been healed. 

Nevertheless, I looked back at Tails' limp body and hoped with all my might that the pink light had affected him. I checked for a pulse. I sighed. There was none. Tears escaped my eyes in vast quantities once again.

Suddenly, the drops rolling down my cheeks floated up into the air and into Tails' body. My amulet glowed brighter than ever. But I paid no attention to this. I just buried my face in Tails' chest. But I realized I could hear his heartbeat now. I cried out in joy shed tears of relief. Tails groaned and his eyes fluttered open.

"What happened? The last thing I remember is me dying..." he said. 

I reacted without thinking. I quickly pressed my lips against his. After a couple of seconds, I realized what I was doing as pulled away, blushing.

"Sorry..." I said.

"No, it's fine. I actually quite enjoyed it. Your lips taste like caramel apple." he said, blushing. He glanced down and his eyes widened when he saw my wounds.

"You need help! Someone call an ambulance!" Tails panicked.

"Tails, I'm fine. Now that you're back." I said, smiling. My amulet was still glowing a pink hue. It pressed in against me and a wave of heat rippled through my body. I opened my eyes and looked down. My wounds had vanished but my amulet had turned back to sky blue. 

My friends walked up to me.

"I just knew you two would end up together!" Amy said, jumping up and down.

"You're so cute together!" Sticks said. Tails and I blushed madly.

"Tails, if you break my sister's heart, I will personally sent you to hell." Thalia said. I looked up at her from my sitting position before standing up. 

"I won't." Tails said, getting up too. Amy grasped Sonic's hand and squeezed it tightly.

"I'm glad you're ok. You had me worried to death when Python swallowed you." she said.

"Same goes to you." Thalia told Shadow.

"But you saved us all in the end." Shadow said.

"I think it's about time to make both of you members of team Sonic." Sonic said.

"All in favor, say 'aye'" Amy said. All of us said 'aye' simultaneously before we shared an enormous group hug.
