《Fusion Online》Chapter 22: Learning about the Tree of Knowledge

"So, what do you know about this game?" Katherine asks Ian as she turns in her back, still soaring through the skies, and looks at Ian.
"Nothing. Honestly I don't know a lot about this game." Ian answers. He actually has no clue what this game is about, like if there's bosses, dungeons, etc. Ian came atrocity for the purpose of freeing his girlfriend, which he will stop at nothing. Katherine nods. "Well. It's not hard to understand," Katherine starts her explaining the game to Ian ," there are multiple races, which you should know since you choose being a Ninja. Each race has an archenemy, yours would a Samurai-"
"Does that mean I can't be beat or be a friend with a samurai?" Ian inquires. Katherine shakes head. "That's a misconception. You see, when you make a guild, you can invite anyone. The archenemy was chosen based if historical facts....or at least most of them were. Most of the Ninjas and Samurais despise each other in game, but if there's a holiday festival or something, everyone becomes friends. When you enter the Samurai hometown, you cannot hurt them, but I cannot say the same vice versa." Katherine explains how archenemy works. It's a strange and complex function added to the game just for the purpose to make it unique. Ian nods firmly.
"Alright. Continue." Ian replies, wanting to know more about the game.
"Ok. Now that we have that settled, the next thing would be the campaign." Katherine begins to tell Ian about another thing the game has. "It's not like a single player campaign you would find in your Xbox or PlayStation. Here, the campaign is to climb all the Life Trees and acquire all three wing relics. Once you have all the three wing relics, you get Guardian Angel wings, which are, in short, angel wings that let you fly forever. No time limit." Katherine finishes another explanation to Ian.
Ian looks to his left. He knows Heather is on the tree of knowledge, so he needs to find them. "Has anyone gotten all three relics?" Ian asks. Katherine shakes her head. "No. As of now the highest a player has is one relic, and only eight players have that, and I'm proud to say that I have one of them, alongside Nathan too." Katherine says as she points to herself proudly. If she has any bragging rights, this is surely one of them. Ian looks to his right now. "What about weapons? How does that work?" The black coat player asks.
"That's easy. The weapons are categorized by type and rarity. You have common, uncommon, rare, legendary, mythical, and Ancient. People here don't usually call them that anymore. It's easier to call them by their color, which would be grey, green, blue, purple, yellow. Ancient doesn't have a color name since its yellow with three stars when you look at the item." The female teen says as she spins around and faces forward instead of flying in her back.

"Well, that's all for the basic. There's not much else besides the usual dungeons, bosses, special events, and more." Katherine finishes as she sees bright lights at the distance. Ian looks ahead and sees the same lights. "That's Julx. That's the place my race is from." Katherine says as she starts descending.
After several more seconds of flying, the two players are flying above the big village. "I hope you know how to land!" Katherine says.
"I don't! How do you do that!?" Ian asks quickly. Katherine was about to respond but she sees a giant tower in front them, which is were she is going to crash if she doesn't stop. "Good luck she says as she stops in mid air and slowly descends to the ground. Ian hasn't noticed the tower, for he is looking back at Katherine while flying foreword.
"Daddy! Watch out!" Abi warns. But it was to late. Ian already hit the tower has first. He then starts falling down to the ground.
"HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!" Ian screams, and his call for help is heard throughout the village, which should be more appropriately called a city. Katherine covers her ears, not wanting to hear Ian's loud thud when he hits the ground.
After a few seconds of pain, Ian stands up, rubbing his head again.
"I hate flying." He mutters as he stretches. He then lowers his arms to see a large amount of players staring at him. "What? Is there a spider?" Ian asks as he checks himself. Katherine grabs Ian's arm. "Hehe, sorry for interrupting your day. Please continue on whatever you were doing." Katherine says with an embarrassed light chuckle. "Let's go Ian!" Katherine whisper-yells at Ian.
"Wait? What!" Ian says as he gets dragged by Katherine. The girl player drags him to a nearby inn. Katherine opens the door to the inn and pulls Ian inside. "Hey hey hey!" Ian says, yanking his arm away. "You don't have to drag me, alright." Ian says.
"Hey, that was embarrassing for me ok!" Katherine exclaims as she takes off her green coat like jacket and puts it on the backrest of a wooden chair. The two aren't in a room, but in the lobby of the inn, which is also a bar. Ian takes a seat on one of the wooden chairs, and in front of him is a round small table. Katherine sighs as she takes a seat in front of Ian.
"So why did you decide to play the game? Katherine asks Ian about his motives of playing the game. Ian looks down, his Raven black hair sets a shadow on his eyes, making them hard to see for Katherine. "My friend is here. She's been trapped. I want to set her free." Ian says softy, remembering Heather and all the good times they've had. From when they first met to their in-game marriage.

"W-what do you mean?" Katherine asks, confused at what he said. Ian looks up at Katherine with a stern and slightly scary face. "I need to get to the Tree of Knowledge as soon as possible!" Ian says.
"Hate to break it too you, but your race will make that a tough challenge. Your race claimed the tree of power. So you'd have to defeat that tree first. Then the tree of will, since that tree is next, after that you could get the tree of knowledge." Katherine says as she leans back on her chair. "It might take a year or so but you-"
"I DO NOT HAVE A YEAR!" Ian yells as he slams his fist on the chair, startling the female player. Ian face is painted with anger and hate, all which are directed towards Calem. Ian shakes his head before sitting down. "Sorry for startling you like that." The player says as he takes a deep breathe. "I just really have to get to the top of that tree. ASAP." Ian says, now calmed down. Katherine nods. "Alright. I'll help you. But I'll need Nathan to help as well, since he can scout the place for us." Katherine says as she leans foreword and puts her arm on the table.
"I'll help you tomorrow. It's already 7:30 where I live and I have to go help out my cousin with stuff." Katherine says as she stands up. "You need to stay here in an Inn, I already have a room, since I sold my house for a good amount of silver." Katherine says as she stands up from her chair and raises her hands for a stretch. Ian nods as he stands up and walks to the counter of the lobby and orders a room. After that, Ian walks down a corridor and opens the door to his room.
The room is nothing special. It has a TV in the left wall and a bed right in front of it. When you enter there's a door to your left that leads to a white tile bathroom. Ian sighs as he plops into bed.
"Daddy?" Abi says, who is next to the bed and has her chin barely above the mattress to see her father. Ian turns his head to his right and looks at his in-game daughter. "Yes, Abi?" Ian asks. "How do you plan on saving mommy?" She asks, tippy toeing to get a better look of Ian. Ian sighs as he moves to his right and carries Abi to his bed and lays her down next to him. "I'm not entirely sure. I have to get pass the other two trees first before I can get to her. To bad I'm on a time limit." Ian says as he looks straight into his daughter's eyes. Abi blinks her green eyes several times.
"Are you tired?" Ian asks. The little girl nods as she closes her eyes. Ian smiles as he kisses Abi's forehead. "Sweet dreams, Princess." He says, causing Abi to smile in her sleep. Ian swipes his finger downward, opening his menu. Ian sighs as he logs off the game.
-----
Ian slowly opens his emerald green eyes. He looks to the right side of his bed. He smiles as he sees a picture of Heather and him. The picture shows Heather wearing her Kimono, her red eyes sparkling dimly, a small kind smile on lips and her right hand in front of her, waving at the camera, all while Ian has his right arm around Heather's waist. The ex-Mandalorian player is wearing his black sweatpants and sweatshirt with golden trims. His smile is as bright as the sun, and his green eyes filled with joy, for this picture was taken one day before their in-game wedding.
Ian smiles at the picture, and a small tear escapes his eyes and drips down his cheek. "It'll be ok Heather. It'll be ok. I promise." Ian talks to himself.
-----
Heather kneels on top of a white bed with purple pillows, and the sheets have purple crosses all around it, a symbol that once belonged to the ex-commander. She has her butt on top of her heels and her back slouched a little bit foreword, and her hands rested on her knee cap. Heather has been trapped here since the day everyone else escaped Fusion Online. Everyday she replays every precious moment she had with Ian, even the time when she hated him with a passion.
"Please Ian....come for me." She W shields to herself, praying that his beloved would come and rescue her once more.
