"You'll like my painting," Ms. Stanley said to me. She displayed an oak tree. "What did you draw, Gemini?" I let her call me by my real name because she gets confused between Jem and me. I held out my drawing.

It's a meadow with dandelions and daisies. "That's beautiful. Why did you draw it?"

"It looks serene."

"Surely, there's a reason." It is. It's my dad. He loves meadows and trees. I wish he would come back for his trip. He just left without saying goodbye to me.

When I came home that day, I go on the rooftop of my house. My favorite part of the day is the end. Because when I go to the roof, I get the perfect view of the sunset. I feel the sky's colors on me.

"Gem, come on. Dinner's ready."

Though Mom doesn't know why I am what I am, Ms. Stanley and Rylee, Jem's godmother and mine, know I'm neat in my own style.
