《Colorado Springs Drama》Chapter 5: My First Kiss

Jason and I were walking home from school two days after the incident with the Sabrinas. I was thinking of what Sabrina said: "You never meant to exist." When that thought appeared in my head, I kept finding discouragement. When Jason realized the look on my face, he asked, "Are Sabrina's words still bothering you?"
"Yeah," I replied. He sighed for a moment.
"What?"
"Look, Taylor, you truly meant to exist. If you didn't, I won't be able to leave the note on your desk the day you came, stood up for you two days ago, and walk you home today."
"Good point." At that moment, I was feeling better.
We arrived at my house. "Well, see you on Monday," I said as I was about to open the door.
"Taylor, wait," Jason said, "there's something I want to tell you."
I turned around and asked, "What is it?"
He began, "Well, ever since I saw you, I... uh... I..."
"You what, Jason?"
"You might think I'm odd."
"I won't, just say it."
Jason mumbled something.
"What did you say?"
He mumbled again.
"Jason, either you talk me what you want to me or you can just go home."
He said aloud, "Ever since I saw you, I like you!"
I stood there, looking surprised. "You do?"
"Well, yes."
"Wow, that is surprising."
"Do you know what else is surprising?"
"No, what?"
"This." Guess what he did? He kissed me. He pressed his lips toward mine. It was soft and sweet.
After that, Jason said goodbye. I went inside and closed the door, smiling. I stand behind the door for five minutes. Then, a voice said, "Who was that?" I didn't know who it was. He stepped forward. That's when I discovered that I was facing with no other person than Sam.

Errant
Amateur fighter Kestril only remembers two things about her mother's disappearance: a locket and the promise she made to keep her brother safe. That promise is all she thinks of when she jumps in front of a car to save her brother. She expects death, but instead wakes up to a looming clock tower, cobblestone streets, and dead soldiers wearing lockets just like her mother's. Kess's locket marks her as one of the Errant- people with control over dimensions and time, and the same people rumored to have captured her brother across the city. When a military group mistakes Kess for their enemy, she swears allegiance at gunpoint, hoping to search for her brother from within. Inside, Kess finds an even darker side of the city bent on killing the Errant-using any means necessary. When the murder of an important Errant soldier throws the city further into civil war, Kess uncovers a plot that could undo everything she's fought for so far. The only problem? Her brother is at the head of it. Trapped between her promise to her mother and her morals, Kess finds little use for her theatrical brawling of the past. She can only hope to find her brother before it's too late. || Update: 4/24/2022 Have decided to rewrite this novel, but will continue to post chapters of this draft, possibly with commentary.
