Leo went home with his empty basket. His visit with Nadine was improving now. She enjoyed his company, and she loves the book. "It was a great story." she said.

As he opened the door, he called, "Mom! Dad!"

"In here, Leo," his mom hollered. He came to his dad's office.

"You're just in time. We have a visitor," his dad said. "Leo, this is Inspector O'Connor."

The name stopped Leo from coming close. He knows that O'Connor is on the verge. I can't let him find Nadine, he speculated.

"So, Leo, how is your friend?" O'Connor raised. He gave the boy a narrow look.

"He's fine."

With every question O'Connor popped up, Leo bounced him back with any lie he could think of. It was easy this way. "So, your friend doesn't like outdoors."

"No, he is an inside fellow."

"What's his name?" Uh-oh! Leo was getting edgy.

"Na... na... athan. Nathan! Yes, Nathan Barks."

"I see. Well, I must go."

"Can I get you something," Gina offered.

"No, thank you. I'll be fine." He tipped his hat as he was on his way. The Walkers turned to their son. "Are you feeling okay," Tod pondered.

"I'm fine."

Gina raised an eyebrow. "Are you hiding something? If you are, you can tell us."

"I can't," Leo sadly sighed.
