《Crossing Boundaries| Bellamy Blake》9| Murder

Bellamy stood in front of Cattleya with the poisoned knife in his hand. "Bellamy, no!" Octavia blocked him trying to protect Cattleya the best she could.

"He wants Finn to die, why can't you see that?" He shouted at Octavia before turning to Clarke. "Do you want him to live or not?"

"Clarke, you even said it yourself, this is not who we are! They were protecting me, They saved my life!" Octavia tried to argue.

"We're talking about Finn's life!" Bellamy argued back. Clarke had the final decision. She didn't want to hurt Cattleya, she trusted her. But, Finn was dying, she needed answers.

"Do it." Clarke said. Octavia had practically wrapped herself around Cattleya's body in order to protect her.

"No. Just tell us!" Octavia shouted over her shoulder. Bellamy being much stronger than his stubborn sister, unclenched her from the Grounder and pushed her aside. Bellamy cut through Cattleya's right sleeve leaving a large portion of her forearm free.

"Show us the antidote or you'll wish you had." He warned. Bellamy didn't want to do this and he hoped the Grounder wouldn't let him do it. The Grounder had the antidote. He wouldn't just let Cattleya die, would he?

"Bellamy, no." Octavia begged. "Please!" The Grounder didn't answer. She would be okay, Bellamy said to himself. They would find the antidote and Clarke would heal her. She would be okay.

Bellamy slid the knife down Cattleya's forearm.

Cattleya felt a slight burn run through her body but she didn't care. She was home with everyone she loved. Her eyes moved from the starry night to the blazing fire in front of her. The fire nearly touched the surface of her skin. Beads of sweat starting to form on her forehead.

The more she watched, the more the fire grew but it never spread. The fire grew up to twice it's size but it had yet to engulf her. Was it wrong that she wanted it to? Cattleya simply stared at the fire entranced by its flames. The Earth beneath her began to shake violently. She remained still watching the fire shake with the Earth, and then, the fire finally engulfed her.

There was no pain. No burning. No anything. Her family was gone. Cattleya was the only one that remained. She was no longer in Locus. This was someplace completely different: Cattleya traveled into space and through the stars. She bumped into moons and held onto planets. Is this where the Sky People are from?

Everything was so beautiful.

Had she died? Or was she in the middle stage like some people talked about? This wasn't Locus but she was content here.

Octavia had taken a risk cutting her forearm with the poisoned knife. They were killing one life to save another. Once the Grounder told them which vial was the antidote, Octavia frantically gave it to Clarke, who rushed to Finn. She felt a hand reaching out to touch her and knew it was her brother. "Don't touch me!" She moved away Bellamy's hand away.

Bellamy watched as Octavia walked over to Cattleya trying to clean the blood around both her forearms. Bellamy took out the black cloth he pocketed and held it out to Octavia. "Here." Octavia ignored Bellamy's gesture.

"I don't want your help."

"You need it to clean up the blood." Bellamy argued.

"She doesn't need any more of your help!" Octavia snapped. However, she did take the strip of cloth from Bellamy's hand and cleaned up her forearms.

"I was trying to do the right thing, Octavia." Bellamy said more to himself more than anyone else.

"By killing her." Octavia's eyes bore into Bellamy's. He had never seen that look on Octavia. "She was my friend. She trusted me and I lied to her!" Tears brimmed her eyes. "I promised her everything would be okay and now she's dying."

"We have the antidote." He tried to reassure her. "You should get Clarke to take care of the cut before the poison starts taking effect."

Octavia didn't want to leave Cattleya by herself especially since she was on the verge of dying, but Octavia knew if she didn't get herself healed she wouldn't be much help to Cattleya anyway. Reluctantly, Octavia went to the main floor of the Dropship to take the antidote while Bellamy stayed with the Grounders.

"Keep an eye on him." Bellamy said to Miller. "And, make sure she doesn't bleed out." Miller nodded and picked up the cloth Octavia left behind and started cleaning up the blood on her arms.

Bellamy gave one last glance at the tortured Grounders before climbing down to the main floor. He searched for Clarke, so she could heal Cattleya before things got worse. He found Clarke finishing giving Octavia a shot of the antidote. Bellamy noticed the small amount of antidote left in the vial. "Do you think it's-"

"Bellamy!" Miller shouted from the hatch of the second floor. "Cattleya's having a seizure!"As quickly as he could, Bellamy raced up to the third level. The Grounder at the other end struggled against his restraints as he shouted out to Cattleya.

"Cattleya! Wake up!" Lincoln shouted at her. "Cattleya!"

Bellamy ran up to Cattleya. Her body hung completely motionless. Her chest wasn't moving. Nothing was moving. "What do we do?" Miller asked. Bellamy held up her face. Her eyes were entirely dilated, her face was already alarmingly pale. He firmly placed two fingers right under jaw trying to check for her pulse. Nothing. He got nothing.

"Clarke!" Bellamy turned so quickly he bumped right into her; he hadn't notice Clarke and Octavia had followed him upstairs.

"Give her the antidote!" Octavia panicked.

"It's not going to work if she's dead." Clarke said trying to figure out how to properly bring her back. If her heart rate is completely gone she would have to give CPR. "Cut her down from there and lay her on the floor."

Immediately, Bellamy cut the restraints from Cattleya's wrists and laid her down on the metal floor. "What are you going to do?" Octavia asked Clarke as she moved to Cattleya's side.

"CPR." Clarke overlapped her hands over Cattleya's heart and began to compress against her chest. Clarke counted to thirty before pinching her nose, tilting her head up and breathed into her mouth.

Bellamy's heart pounded against his chest as he watched Clarke try to start Cattleya's heart. He watched as Clarke grew tired after the forth time. Cattleya wasn't responding. By the end of the forth round, Clarke couldn't do it anymore, so Bellamy decided to take over. "Bellamy, she's-"

"No!" He shouted at Clarke. Cattleya was supposed to be okay. She's okay. She'll come back.

After a few more compressions, Bellamy pinched her nose, tilted her head up and breathed into her mouth. Abruptly, Cattleya's eyes flew open and she gasped in a quick breathe of air. "Quick, give her the antidote!" Octavia said. Clarke quickly scanned the room and remembered the wires Raven had pulled out.

"No, we have to stabilize her heart first. Bring her to the wires and start removing her shirt." Bellamy swiftly carried over, set her down and got her ready as Clarke prepped the wires. "Octavia, prep the syringe up. Stay clear. 1, 2, 3." Clarke sent a shock to Cattleya making her convulse forward with eyes wide open; she waited a few seconds before checking her pulse. It was regulated enough. "Give her the shot."

Octavia quickly but carefully pierced the needle into Cattleya's upper left arm. Cattleya's eyes began to flutter close, again. Bellamy fixed her shirt and moved her matted hair from her face. His finger flutter to neck, again, and he checked her pulse. It was weak but it was there.

Cattleya stared into the pair of dark brown eyes above her before exhaustion consumed her.

They had moved Cattleya to the main floor of the Dropship where they could monitor her better. Make sure she doesn't die again. Bellamy laid her facing upward on the metal table where Finn was until he moved onto a cot.

Her face was still pale and her hair was stuck to her forehead. There was blood scattered and seeping out from different parts of her body. He did that. He caused that. One thing Bellamy couldn't understand was, if he went as far as to torture her, then why did he care so much if she lived? It would be one less Grounder to worry about.

Cattleya was an honest person; she hadn't lied to him. He knew that but it was easier to place the blame on her than coming to terms with his decisions. Bellamy was an asshole and he didn't deserve her help. He saw how easily Cattleya put others first before herself and she didn't think of it as a weakness. She was confident; so sure of everything that needed to be done whether or not people liked it or not. Everything she said about him was right.

Bellamy had killed the most genuine person he'd ever meet. He couldn't look at her anymore.

Octavia watched Clarke properly sanitize and stitch up the cuts on both Cattleya's forearms before wrapping them in a clean cloth. "Is it okay for her to sleep after she just...died?" Octavia asked.

"She's fighting off the poison. I wouldn't be surprised if she stays asleep for a couple of days."

"Why? You gave her the antidote just like me and Finn."

"I'm worried it wasn't enough." Octavia raised an eyebrow at Clarke. "Cattleya was cut on both of her forearms, where many vital veins are located. She received too much poison and lost a lot of blood."

"But she's gonna be okay, right?"

"I'm trying to figure out what the Grounder used to make the antidote." Clarke said trying to reassure Octavia. She noticed how worn and beaten Octavia looked; she'd used her whole energy on trying to save the people who saved her. "Why don't you go get some sleep. I'll take care of her tonight." Octavia gave a hesitant look. "I know her dying is partly my fault and I'm sorry. I really am. I'll make sure nothing bad will happen to her. I promise."

"Don't make promises you can't keep." Octavia stated as she left to sleep in her tent.

The next morning, Octavia took her place by Cattleya's side and combed her fingers through Cattleya's dark long hair. She tried to do a braid but failed miserably with each attempt. Octavia could sew and mend the most complicated pieces of clothing but she couldn't do a simple braid.

Octavia was waiting for Bellamy to come down from the third floor so she could check on the Grounder, but he was being a stubborn ass. Octavia's ears perked up when she heard feet coming down the ladder. "You're still here?" Bellamy asked stepping down from the ladder.

"I'm not moving until you let me up there to see him." She explained as she walked up to her brother.

"Get comfortable." Bellamy looked at Cattleya sleeping on the metal table. "I let him live. Isn't that enough?"

"He saved my life and yours." Octavia argued.

"I know you see it that way, but-"

"That's the way it is." She corrected him.

"He's still dangerous."

"Only because of what you did." The siblings glared at each other. "Cattleya trust him."

"Cattleya's a Grounder. Of course, she trusts him. We don't know these people. For all we know, those two could be partners. Maybe he's the one who threw a spear at Jasper. You never thought about that, did you?" Bellamy saw a flash of hurt run through Octavia's face. He seemed to be doing that a lot lately.

"I don't believe that." Octavia knew the Grounder wouldn't spend his time and effort into healing her just a few days after spearing Jasper. It doesn't make sense.

"Whatever twisted connection you think you have with that animal, forget it. You don't get to see him. End of conversation." Bellamy turned to leave of the Dropship, but stopped when he heard the next words come out of his sister's mouth.

"Why do you even care if I ruined your life?" Octavia sneered. "You should want me to go up there. Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll kill me, problem solved." Bellamy sighed and looked into Octavia's eyes.

"Octavia, you know I didn't mean that."

Just then, Clarke walked in the middle of their argument with a request for Bellamy to go with to a supply deposit in the woods. Bellamy agreed to go and left the Dropship giving one last glare at Octavia.

Octavia went back to playing with Cattleya's hair trying to do a braid. She began singing a song her mom used to sing to her before she went to sleep. "I've got sunshine," Octavia began to think back, back to the years she spent under the floors. "On a cloudy day. When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May....."

Cattleya could hear the sound of Octavia's soft voice singing in her ear. She wanted to wake up more than anything. She wanted to help Octavia. She wanted to help Lincoln. Cattleya was tired of being useless even if it was for a couple hour, but she couldn't get up. It was keeping her under.

Octavia was trying her best to take care of the two Grounders but with Cattleya being sick and the other Grounder under high surveillance, she wasn't getting anywhere. Still, attempting to braid Cattleya's hair, she watched as Connor climbed up the ladder and come back down with Miller behind him. Octavia quickly took the opportunity to go up to the Grounder.

Lincoln heard footsteps but was too weak to lift his head up to look. "Hi." A cautious voice said. Octavia. "We don't have a lot of time." Through the slit of his eyes, he noticed a cup of water near his face, and he gulped the water as quickly as he could. Lincoln heard Octavia say a few words about sorry and her brother being a dick, which he found particularly funny.

He heard a few other words before Octavia departed from him then come back with a wet rag. Octavia was amazed at the tattoos that traced around his body. "This is all my fault because I freaked out so bad when you locked me up in that cave. You'd totally understand why if you knew how I grew up." Octavia tried to explain.

"My name is Lincoln." He breathed out. Octavia smiled up at Lincoln.

"Lincoln. I'm Octavia." They both fell into silence. "Cattleya is fine-well, not fine but breathing." Octavia tried to keep the conversation going.

"It's not safe for us to talk."

"Well, if we shouldn't talk, then why did you tell me your name?"

"I want you to remember me after I'm dead." Lincoln stated matter-of-factly.

"You're not gonna die and I can't let you die." Octavia stated confusing Lincoln. "Clarke thinks Cattleya isn't going to make if she doesn't get the proper medicine. You have the medicine. If you die, Cattleya dies." She explained.

"Why do you care so much about her?" Lincoln asked.

"Why don't you? She's one of your people. Why didn't you try to save her?"

"I do care. But she understands why I didn't. She wouldn't have wanted me too."

Just then, Miller walked up to the third floor. "Octavia, get the hell out now. Bellamy is not even here." Miller interrupted. "Get out, or he gets the beating I've been aching to give him." He threatened.

"Okay, okay. I get it." She threw her hand up in surrender. "I'm gone." Octavia pushed pasted Miller giving Lincoln one last glance before climbing down to the main floor.

"Bellamy Blake." Jaha said standing right in front of him.

Bellamy was going crazy. How could Jaha be here, down on Earth? Just a second ago, he was in an argument with Clarke inside the bunker. Bellamy told Clarke he should leave before the rest of the Ark come down because he would be imprisoned for his actions. But now, Jaha was standing in front of him outside. "How are you here? You're on the Ark."

"You shot me on the Ark, but I've been waiting for you." Jaha explained as he removed his hands from his abdomen and blood began to rush out.

"I did what I had to do." Bellamy defended.

"To protect Octavia. That's right. Pathetic, using your sister to justify your crimes, your cruelty, your selfishness?" With each word, Jaha stepped closer to Bellamy.

"If you're gonna kill me, just do it."

"Why should I kill you? Unlike the others, I survived your treachery."

"What are you talking about?"

"The three hundred and twenty souls that were culled from the Ark so that others could live. You knew that they would be sacrificed. Even the Grounder, Cattleya, after everything she did for you. They all died because of your mistakes."

"The radio. I didn't know that would happen. And, Cattleya. She's still alive. Clarke brought her back." Bellamy begged Jaha.

"It's not my forgiveness you should seek." People emerged from him air surround Bellamy from every angle. "It's theirs." Bellamy's breath became uneven as everyone around him shouted murder, but only one sent chills down his back.
