《Skaikru ☣ Bellamy Blake [2]》Shouldn't Have Come

Nia paced the floor outside of the Ark. It had been early this morning when she had heard that Pike had won the election against Kane. She immediately ran to holding but the cell was empty. When she had tried to exit the gates, the guards stopped her and wouldn't allow her to pass. Now she wait anxiously for something to happen.
The girls and Alec watched as she went back and forth in front of them. Hearing the news and the way she was acting told them that something wasn't right. But when they asked, she had hardly said two words to them. This subject them to just observing her movements.
Their attention was drawn to the gates when they heard everyone approach it. The group began to walk forward but halted when they saw what was coming through the gates.
The group that entered were exhausted and covered in blood. The sight of them was sickening to Nia that is until she saw Bellamy.
Her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach as she tried to gain control of her senses. He had done it. He had murdered 300 of her people. She couldn't bear to look at him but she couldn't take her eyes away.
She wanted him to see her. Wanted him to see the pain in her eyes. The hurt that he had caused her.
It was like he hear her somehow. When Octavia talked to him, he glanced up and into her eyes. They burned through him the more he stared and it wasn't till a small movement made him look away.
Jade looked down as she hid by Nia's side. She looked so innocent like a child comforted by their mother's presence. A tear escaped her eyes as she glanced at all the things around her. But still he couldn't look away at what he had done.
When Bellamy's eyes shifted from her she followed his gaze. She had forgotten about those with her until she saw them. Jade huddled close to her while Fox stared in disbelief. They didn't need to see this. Didn't need to know what was going on.
"Fox, take Jade to the room and do not leave. Wait for me and Alec, do you understand?" She ordered the girl to do. Fox nodded her head before turning and taking Jade with her.
With them gone, Alec and Nia began to walk forward and stop beside Kane and Abby. All looked to Pike as he stood on a crate overlooking everyone.
"Everybody, listen up. 24 hours ago, you elected me your chancellor. Every action I've taken since, and every action I will take, will be to achieve one sacred goal. The creation of a self-sustaining, prosperous and safe Arkadia. This morning, on a muddy field our people paid tribute to those who have been taken from us by sending a message to the Grounders. This land is ours now." Nia and Alec shared a look. The feeling of dread creeping over them as people cheered. "Resist and you will be met by force. Fight and you will be greeted by death." Nia's hand slipped into Alec as she tried to bring some comfort. "Today is a new beginning. Mark it down, remember it. Just like the Grounders will remember it."

Pike then began to enter the Ark. Bellamy followed after him but he halted when he looked to Nia. She stood beside Alec, the two close together and their hands intertwined. The sight of it angered him but he could do nothing but stare.
"No wounded." Abby began to acknowledge as she observed those that had left. "10 against 300 and there's no wounded. How's that possible?"
Her questioned was directed at Kane but her answer came from the ones standing closest to them.
"Because they attacked in their sleep. They slaughtered them like cowards." Nia sneered out. She was anger at Pike. At the situation. At Bellamy. And at herself.
300 warriors were sent to their dead by those who they were trying to protect and she did nothing to stop it. If she had left to the camp after everything had happened she could've done something to save them. But no, instead she chose to stay within the walls and trust that Bellamy would listen.
"Nia." Alec called her but her attention was on Bellamy. The two staring at each other with disbelief and fury. Gently, he nudged her the direction of the Ark but still she did not budge. "Nia, we have to get to the girls." She said finally bringing her from the stare.
Without looking back, she turned and headed inside with Alec not far behind. Everything has changed and it was no linger safe for them.
"Go get what you need and meet me back in my room. I have to pick up a couple things." Nia instructed before they separated.
She made her way to Bellamy's room and when she entered she made quick work to gather her and Jade's things. Little did she know was that he was currently following her since she had left. When he entered he noticed her packing a bag with whatever seemed to be hers or Jade's. Watching her do that stirred something inside him.
"Nia." He tried to call out but she kept doing what she was doing. "Nia." He tried again but received nothing. Finally, he reached out for her but when his hand met her arm, she ripped it away.
"Don't touch me." She demanded looking up at him. Bellamy was taken aback at the hostile tone in her voice.
"You have to understand, I did it for you." He told her but didn't get a chance to speak further.
"No. No, you didn't do this for me or for Jade. You did this for yourself. You did this because of all the ghosts. The ones you killed on the ark, the ones from the dropship and the ones from Mount Weather. Not only did you start a war but you just added 300 more to haunt you." Nia ranted out the anger seeping through her.

Bellamy stayed quiet taking the verbal hits from her. A part of him told him he deserved it. He deliberately hurt them and now he had to live with it.
"Tell me, did it make you feel better? Did taking 300 from their families wipe away the guilt?" Nia questioned but he didn't respond. "I don't know how you expected me and everyone to react to this. The Bellamy that walked though those gates, the one in front of me is not the one I fell in love with."
His head snapped up to her. Despite being together for 3 months neither one had uttered the three words. But now here she implied it but because of his actions he may have lost the love of his life. What could he do now, the damage was done.
"How do you expect us to raise-" Nia cut herself off realizing what she was doing. She had almost told him about the baby. He had murdered 300 of her people because they were of a different clan. How could she know that he won't do the same to her, the baby, or even Alec and Jade?
Nia decided that it was time for her to leave that room. So, she grabbed the bag and made for the door. But before she could even leave she heard the quietest whisper from him.
"I'm sorry." He admitted hoping it would get her to stay. Get them to work this whole thing out.
"You're not." She stated back before opening the door and leaving. And she didn't look back.
When she entered her room, she noticed how crowded it seemed to be. The girls and Alec were accompanied by Lincoln and Kane. Everyone seemed to be waiting for her arrival.
She gave the bag to the girls while stepping closer to the men. They would need to speak in hushed tones so the girls wouldn't hear.
"Did he say anything?" Kane was the first to ask.
"No. He's not talking to me about anything." She sighed in defeat.
"Can you talk to him now?" Kane asked again hoping there might be a way to alter their future.
"No. The Bellamy I know is not there. He's being led by his anger and his guilt. He's not going to sit down and talk about everything like a nightmare. He will lash out until he's destroyed everything in his path." Nia explained the best she could. "Trust me, I know."
Alec and Lincoln sent her a similar look. The two knew exactly what she was talking about. The loss of her mother had changed her and they feared that this might just turn her back into that.
"Okay, well you all should keep a low profile. Keep your heads down while we try and avoid a incident." Kane finalized before exiting the room.
Nia looked at the girls and thought of all the possibilities. What would've happened if they never came to Arkadia? How would have everything turned out?
"Maybe this was a mistake." She stated the the two in front of her. "Coming here I mean. Maybe it would've been better if we stayed with Lexa. We might've been able to establish a better peace. I wouldn't have put us all in danger."
"No, Nia, you didn't put anyone in danger. This isn't your fault. We don't know what may or may not happen. But what we do know is that we're still together." Lincoln was the one to comfort his sister.
"When Lexa and the clans know about what they did, they won't stand for it. And where inside their camp. They'll this we stand for it." Nia commented.
"Lexa knows that you would never stand for a massacre of your own clan. And if a battle begins I will do everything to keep you and the girls safe. You have my word." Alec spoke this time.
"Everything will be okay, Nia." Lincoln supported. He placed a kiss on her forehead and whispered to her. "I love you Zhalia, always."
Nia let out a breath as she took comfort in both Lincoln and Alec's presence. She didn't know what the future held. She could only hope that her loved ones would be out of harms way.

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic
