The clock that hung above the tall door frame ticked ominously as the students hurried to scratch the final words of their essay onto the paper. Heaviness lingered in the air as the stress of finishing their final assignment came to an end.

Some students had already finished. Those who were done read their paper over and over again trying to find any way to add more words. Maybe lengthen some short sentences. Anything to help their score by all means.

The professor sat, laid back in his chair. His arms rested behind his head as he took a short nap while his students frantically wrote. He even had the nerve to rest his feet on his desk.

George was one of the few students that considered their paper "finished" a few minutes early. Though he felt something was missing.

He couldn't put his finger on it but something.. was just missing.

Just seconds ago it seemed like the time was flying. Now it was crawling at a snails pace. At this point the male wasn't sure if he'd be able to keep his attention on the paper any longer.

Again, the clock ticking away caused everyone's hearts to pound as they quickly fixed the last little mistakes. Working up to the final bell of the year. It seemed to be taking its sweet time now.

Suddenly, the speakers that were scattered throughout the school sounded. Along with the giant church like bell that chimed a very rewarding sound.

Everyone shoved their note books and writing utensils in their bags and quickly made their way down to turn in the paper.

"I'll start grading immediately. Be on the look out to whether or not I will see you next year or if you paid enough attention to pass! Have a great summer!" The professor shouted with a smile as he waved the students off.

George was in the back of the line but he didn't mind. It gave him the opportunity to check his phone which had been going off nonstop.

He had a few random text but most of them were from Dream.

"Meet me by the tree next to our spot ;)" the text read.

The brunette couldn't help but laugh to himself as he quickly made his way out to meet Dream.

Back when Dream disappeared to surprise George with a picnic they carved a little picture into the tree not too far from where they sat for hours.

While on his way there, George could hardly contain his smile. Finally school was out of the way for the time being. And he and Dream could really start whatever it is they have going in.

As he began getting closer George tried to look further ahead and see the tall blonde. Sure enough, there he was towering over the crowd that walked by him.

"Dream!" George called as he picked up the pace to reunite with the taller male. His heart raced once he seen his smile. His perfect smile that could warm the coldest days.

"George!" He called back as he met him about half way.

The two embraced in a tight, long awaited hug once close enough. In his embrace the world stopped still on its axis.

There was no time, no wind, no rain. George's mind was at peace. How could it be that he hadn't seen Dream's love for what it was before? Pure. Unselfish. Undemanding. Free. He felt his body press in, soft and warm. This was the love he'd waited for, prayed for. A love like this was to be cherished for life.

Wait.. love..?

It hit him like a train.

George was in love.

"I'm so proud of you Georgie.." the blonde whispered as he held onto the brunette tightly. Feeling his warmth made him smile even more if possible.

George's stomach fluttered with butterflies at the others praise. It made him feel loved and worth something.

With a soft sniff, he tried to hold the tears back. George replied, "I'm even more proud of you Dream."

No matter how much they didn't want to separate they had too. Especially in a public area. It was just common decency. Though when did the two care about common decency?

Making their way towards the tree, their hands intertwined. Swinging back and forth as they walked.

Upon arrival to their spot, George seen another person sitting their. Looking directly at him and Dream as if he knew them.

Before he could ask who the mystery person was, Dream broke their hand holding and stood next to the stranger.

"George, this is Eret. Eret this is George, my friend." Dream introduced the tall male with soft brown hair and an amazing smile.

Eret stretched his hand out for a hand shake to George. "Hey!" He said in a bubbly tone, smiling wide.

He hesitated and looked at Dream then back to Eret. After a few seconds George wearily took the hand shake and looked down at his feet. "Hello.."

Dream could see something was wrong but didn't want to bring it up right now.

"So." Dream started. Trying to break that awkward silence that was nearly choking him. "I met Eret in one of my core classes. He helped a lot during finals." Dream smiled at the other tall male.

His laugh boomed as his deep voice shook George's core a little. "No no, you helped me! We couldn't have passed without eachother surely." He placed a gentle hand on Dream's shoulder and looked at him.

Not just any look. Oh no, George could tell this 'Eret' had it for Dream.

Who wouldn't? He's tall, Blonde, and beyond handsome. God, anyone who didn't like Dream was crazy. His eyes were so mesmerizing. His laugh so contagious. And his smile.. oh his smile.

"George?" Dream waved his hand in front of the brunettes face.

He jumped a little as he came back to reality. "What." He said coldly as he crossed his arms.

Dream furrowed his eyesbrows but tried to shrug it off. At least till later when he could privately talk to George.

"Eret offered his place this summer that way I don't have to go all the way back to Florida. Great huh?" Dream said with his usual big smile.

George still looked .. off. He couldn't tell if the brunette was thinking about something or was trying to come up with some words. George had hardly spoke at all since meeting Eret.

"So anyways.. Should we go grab some lunch to celebrate the school year being over?" Dream asked.

Eret's hand hadn't moved. As a matter of fact it now rested lower on Dream's back. "I'm in!" He exclaimed.

The blonde waved a hand again as it seemed George was lost in his own thoughts once more. "Hello? Earth to George? Do you wanna get lunch?" Dream asked.

He could hardly hold his tongue back after Dream had said that. George was.. something. What this emotion was.. it was unknown to the brunette, but he wasn't happy.

"Look, if you two want to go be my guest. I'm going back to my dorm." The brunette said coldheartedly.

Turing around, George paused a moment. Was he over reacting?

No.

George shook his head and walked away. His hands shoved into his pockets. His head hung low and he kept eye contact with the ground.

Who thought this was a good idea? Sure he and Dream weren't "together". But they obviously had a "more than friends" relationship.

"Fuck." George muttered to himself as he picked up the pace to get home sooner.

Not once did he turn around. Nor did he plan on it. If Dream was following him, so be it. George shook his head at the image of Eret's hand going lower and lower on Dream's back.

The same back George clawed in pure bliss, rubbed when it hurt and most importantly cried on when he needed someone.

Once he made it to his door, he fumbled with the keys. Eventually he threw the keys at the door in frustration.

Back slumping down the door. His knees came to his chest as he cried softly. His chest hurt and felt tight. The tears burned his eyes as they slowly soaked his shirt.

Why the hell am I crying?

George thought to himself.

He needed to let something out. And unfortunately it was tears. However it was better than rage.

After a few minutes, the brunette collected himself and took his keys to try the door once again. This time he was successful and walked in. Quietly shutting the door.

The room was so dark, cold and silent. It was perfect. George kicked his shoes off near the door and laid in the bed.

Regrettably, the tears came back. This time his cry was a little louder as pain surged through his chest.

Flashes of Dream's smiling face went through his head. Then imagery of him and Eret holding hands, kissing, touching just like they did also flashed through his mind.

Causing him to cry harder.

His head began to pound as a headache came on from the crying. But he didn't know why he felt this way.

Not only did the two say this wasn't anything official but they were basically just friends with benefits.

So why was George hurting this much?

What was causing this unknown emotion that made him not only angry but sad and feel worthless.

As the crying came to a slow stop. The whole room was at a standstill. The silence was deafening yet comforting.

George had actually fallen asleep. Tears staining his cheeks, and the pillow wet from the stream of tears.

Until the door handle started rattling while the sounds of keys on the other side could be hear jingling.

The brunette didn't open his eyes but he could definitely tell Dream was here.

Once in, the blonde put his keys back into his pocket. Squinting as his eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room.

"George?" He called softly.

No answer. Dream knew he was here because his shoes laid on the doormat and his keys on the table.

George decided even if he was awake he wasn't answering Dream at the moment. His heart still ached too much to talk.

Dream sighed as he slipped his shoes off and carefully navigated the dark room. When the found the switch, he turned on the little fairy lights George had put up.

It was enough light to see, but not enough to wake up George, Dream thought.

After finally seeing where the other was, Dream took a deep breath.

Carefully he sat on the edge. Gazing down at the brunette as he looked so beautiful asleep. His chest rose and fell steadily. His cheeks rosy but his eyes looked red.

Upon further inspection, Dream seen the wet marks and snot from his nose indicating he had definitely been crying.

The blondes heart sunk. Knowing he caused George to feel this way and that he even cried. It hurt knowing he hurt George.

"Shit." Dream said softly as he wanted to wake the brunette but he wanted him to rest at the same time.

After a few seconds, George couldn't take it anymore. The anger came back to him and he wanted Dream to get as far away as he could.

"Why aren't you at lunch with your boyfriend." George said in a shaky voice as he slowly opened his eyes.

Dream jumped from the sudden voice of the other. And it took him a minute to realize what he said.

He shook his head. "Oh come on, don't be like that." Dream tried to take George's hand.

But he quickly moved it away and sat up in the bed.

"No, because he was clearly into you. So why don't you date him. I mean you obviously liked him as well so go for it." George said harshly.

Taken aback by the sudden anger Dream scrunched his nose for a moment. "Where the hell is this coming from?"

George laughed and looked Dream dead in the eyes. All the anger from earlier was back. And he didn't know how much would actually come out. "Please. I saw the way you two looked at each other. I know there's something there."

"George stop. There's nothing and why are you so angry? I didn't get to fully explain why I planned on staying with him." Dream tried to reach for the other once again. But George yanked his hand away.

"No no, I get it. You got to fuck me all year and now you're ready to move on to the next. Go for it. I could care less." George got up and moved to the other side of his room. Grabbing his suitcase and other luggage he had brought when moving in.

Dream got up shortly after and took the bags out of his hand. "George!" He raised his voice. His hand on his shoulder to try and calm him down.

The brunette smacked his hand and look up at him. "Don't ever touch me again. As a matter of fact.. don't talk to me again." He said angrily as he snatched the bag from Dream's hand and continued packing.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Dream said in a harsh tone as he stepped back a moment.

Ignoring him wouldn't work. The blonde was too persistent and would wait till George gave in. But he couldn't give in.

This was it.

"I asked if I could stay with him because-" Dream started but was quickly interrupted by George.

"Don't care. Stop talking to me." The brunette snapped.

Now the blonde was slowly losing his patience. His hand curled into a soft fist. He would never hurt George but it was just to keep his calm a little longer.

Trying once again, Dream approached George. Leaving about five inches between them.

"Please, I don't know where this all of a sudden came from. But George I thought you'd move back with your family. And I didn't want to make us uncomfortable." Dream explained calmly.

.

That's what this feeling, this emotion George was so unaware of. What he had been experiencing for the past three hours.

Jealousy felt like a demon. possessing all who did not prepare.

"Well I have no way in knowing you two won't catch feelings and act upon them. If you like him more just say it." George looked back at the blonde.

Dream scoffed and closed the space between him and George. So close it made him back up until his back hit the wall.

"How many times do I have to tell you? I love you George. Why the hell would I go and fuck someone else and ruin this. Ruin us." Dream spoke lowly.

George looked down and shook his head. "I doubt that. Hell I thought you were going to fuck your best friend when he came here."

The blonde looked at George with disbelief. How could he even think that way.

"Do you even know my real name? Huh? Tell me George, what's my real name."

He paused. The brunette racked his brain for a good minute trying to remember. He knew his name but he couldn't remember.

"Its.." he said as the silence was slowly killing him.

"That's what I thought." Dream rolled his eyes and walked away.

By now tears had started rolling down the brunettes face once again as he watched through blurred visions, the blonde walk away.

"Fuck you." George cried as he held onto the bags tightly.

"Nice one. And you British people are supposed to be polite. Go suck a cock." He said with a cocky tone but upset look. One last smart reply before he walked out the door.

Door slamming, causing the picture frame to fall to the ground. Shattering onto a million pieces, just like George's heart.

The brunette slowly walked to the mess. He stooped down and took the picture, shaking all the broken glass off of it.

It was a picture of them.

Smiling.

Hugging.

Happy.

George, already crying pretty hard, ripped the picture in two and threw it to the ground.

Was this it.

The end of the road for the two.
