*Samantha*
I don't think I'd ever taken such a long shower, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to step out. I felt so at peace, so relaxed. It was an exhilarating experience and was definitely much needed after all I'd gone through today.
As I spun around to face the water and rinse the suds from my face, I heard a loud bang coming from what sounded like downstairs. Immediately my heart dropped, and I slowly opened the glass door to the shower to listen more closely.
Nothing. Oh well.
Closing the shower door, I continued to scrub away at the dirt that had accumulated over my body; and once more I heard a loud bang from below. Fully shutting off the water, I stepped out of the shower and ripped my towel from around the towel rack. I don't know why I was so nervous, but I was shaking rather aggressively. My stomach felt like it had dropped to my knees and my skin was covered in goosebumps. I had a really bad feeling, and I didn't like it one bit.
Wrapping my towel around myself, I slowly padded out of the bathroom and entered the master bedroom. I listened carefully, and nearly screamed upon hearing another crash. I snatched the landline from the bedside table, and quickly dialed for security at the front. It only rang twice, before a tired voice answered from the other end.
"Hello?"
"Hi, this is uh Samantha James. I was wondering if anybody else had checked in recently. I think somebody is trying to break into my house." My voice was shaky, and I felt myself growing more terrified as time went on. The man chuckled lightly, and reassured me that nobody else had come through besides myself.
"Are you sure sir? I'm very paranoid."
"If you'd like I can still send a patrol car out there to be safe. I think there's one in your area."
I smiled and sighed in relief. "Yes please. If you don't mind?"
"No worries miss. Somebody should be there shortly. Just show your ID and pass when he arrives."
Thanking him, I ended the call and placed it back in its holder. I laughed at my stupidity, but jumped after hearing another loud bang. Taking a deep breathe, I exited the master bedroom and began to walk down the long hallway. It seemed to stretch on forever, and as I made my way down; I peered over the railing to the bottom story of the house.
Again, I heard the loud bang and jumped back startled. I quickly ran down the stairs, and as I began to look around the foyer; I heard the bang again. It came from fairly close behind me, and ripping around; I peered into the darkness. The kitchen lights were completely off, so I instinctively turned them on. There was no way in hell you'd catch me in the darkness alone.
Once more, the banging sounded off in the house but this time it was even closer. Grabbing a knife from the kitchen counter, I made my way to the backdoor where the sound was coming from. I switched on the porch light and couldn't stop from screaming as a figure scurried past my backdoor. I dropped the knife from my hands, and as they spun around; I sighed in relief.
Opening the backdoor, I greeted the officer who looked just as shocked as me. "I'm so sorry officer." Waving me off, he greeted me a small smile. "No worries miss James." "Would you like to see my ID and pass?" I asked, clutching tightly onto my towel. The young man shook his head, and patted his jeans where I assumed his gun was. "It isn't necessary. I'm going to do another sweep around the house before heading out." Laughing lightly, I leaned up against the wall. "Did you figure out what the banging was?" Using his flashlight as a pointer, he shined it toward the back of the house. "Sure did. You've got raccoons. Nasty little critters got into something."

"Oh okay. I'm sorry about that. Thank you for still coming." Tipping his hat, he bid me a farewell before wandering off to the side of the house. Securing my back door, I made sure it was locked before picking the knife from off the ground. Sliding it back into its holder, I made my way to the stairs and ascended. I slipped on my sports bra and tshirt, and had just put on my underwear when every light in the house switched off. My heart plummeted to my stomach, and I quickly scurried over to the light switch and attempted to flicker it on.
Of course it wouldn't fucking work.
I prayed the officer was still around, and rushing over to the window; I peeled back the curtains. The upstairs bedrooms were the only ones that had them, and I smiled in relief upon seeing his car still parked with its headlights still on. I grabbed my cellphone from the bed, and used that for my light as I headed down the stairs. I knew we had a flashlight in the downstairs closet, for it wasn't rare to get power outages around here.
Alas, I was right and clicking it on; I made my way back into the kitchen. I left my phone on the kitchen counter, and made my way to the backdoor where I'd met with the patrol officer previously. Slowly opening the backdoor, I shined my light off the back patio. It was nearing nine now, and was pitch black outside; the only light coming from the moon.
"Officer?"
I pulled down my shirt as best I could, as I slowly made my way outside; for I was wearing nothing underneath but some lousy underwear.
Nothing but the bitterness of silence answered in return.
"Hello? Officer?"
My words echoed throughout the woods and brought a chill to my spine. Where the hell was he?
As I stepped off my back patio, I walked up to where his car sat parked. The headlights blinded me as I padded in the dirty soil, and I had to squint my eyes to see. Walking up to his car, I used my hands as a shield to help peer inside. Everything was still on, and his keys were even in the ignition. Huh....that's strange.
Backing away from the car, I walked around to the other side and continued to look for him. I know he couldn't have gotten far.
"Officer! Are you out here?"
Pointing my light toward the lake, I saw a figure bent over; almost as they were tying their shoe. Smiling, I began to make my way toward them; my toes curling in the damp grass. "Hey officer, do you think you could help me with my lights? The power turned off and I need some help."
He stayed still, and I furrowed my eyebrows as I got closer. "Officer?"
I must've been six feet or so behind him, when he finally stood up. My smile began to drop as he slowly spun around; and I screamed in fear as he fully turned around.
"Hi babe."
Harry.
Dropping the flashlight in fear, I sprinted toward my backdoor as I desperately tried opening it. To my dismay, it failed to open and I began to sob hysterically as I tugged harder and harder. I heard Harry chuckle behind me, and looking over my shoulder I noticed he was nearing closer to me. His steps were small and frigid; almost as if he were deliberately taunting me.

Just as Harry reached the bottom steps, the door slid open and I hurried inside. At this point he began running almost as if he was trying to beat me to the door; but I made it in first and slid the door shut in his face. Quickly locking it, I looked through the glass at him in utter fear. He chuckled darkly and neared his face close to the glass; his breathe fogging it up. "Oh love, you wanna play games, do you?" I stayed silent as he smirked. "You can run, but you can't hide."
My eyes widened with his words, and I watched as he slowly backed away from the window. I was paralyzed with fear, I couldn't move. The further away he got, the less of him I saw; but I couldn't move. It wasn't until after he had completely vanished that I rushed into the living room where my keys were. I basically tackled my purse to the ground and emptied all of its contents onto the ground, my keys lying in a heap of a mess as they crashed to the ground. My hands were shaky as I gripped them, only then remembering my phone.
Running back into the kitchen, I went to grab my phone but stopped dead in my tracks. It was no longer on the countertop where I knew I had left it.
My heart thudded in my chest so loud, I wouldn't have been surprised if Harry could hear it from wherever he was. I knew the landlines wouldn't work either, and at this point I was basically fucked. My best chance at getting away from him would be to make a run for my car or knocking him out. Taking a deep breathe, I crept over to where the front corridor was; and peered through the windows. I studied my surroundings carefully, and after seeing no movement; I slowly crept to the door. I could barely breathe, but I found the courage to unlock the front door. Poking my head out, I looked into the darkness; making sure Harry wasn't waiting for me. I was sure if he caught me he was going to kill me, and absolutely nobody would know I was dead for at least a couple of days.
With one last breathe, I made a bolt for my car. As I went to unlock my doors though, I stopped dead in my tracks. All of my tires had been slashed completely and I fought the urge to scream in terror. Spinning back on my heels, I went to make a bolt for the front door; but stopped. There stood Harry on my front porch, his arms crossed and a sinister look on his face.
"Found you."
Screaming out in horror, I ran around the side of my house and listened as Harry's footsteps padded behind me. I knew he was close, and my only chance at escaping him would be to get back in my house.
"Samantha!"
The way he spoke my name caused me to break out in chills, but only encouraged me to run faster. Faster and faster I pumped my legs, and I soon found myself back in the safety of my own home. Harry's face was red, he was enraged; and once more I slammed the door in his face.
"Fuck!"
I screamed in fear as he pounded on the door, and slowly began to take steps back. "Open this fucking door!" The tears began to fall as I sobbed into my hand. He was going to kill me. "Open the fucking door." I slowly slid down the wall, landing on my bum as I stared at the door. "Samantha? Open the door love." His tone was petrifying. It so slow, so taunting; I despised it.
I continued to stay silent, as I slowly slid back up the wall. My eyes stayed trained on the door, and I listened as he screamed out. A scream escaped my lips as the window to the left of the door suddenly shattered. A large rock landed by my feat, and I quickly took off up the stairs.
I heard more glass shatter behind me but didn't even bother looking back. I was petrified he'd be right there and grab me, and that'd be it. My feet padded down the hallway and it felt like it stretched on forever. I decided against hiding in the master bedroom, and found myself in my brothers room instead. My body felt like it was drenched in sweat, and as I looked around his bedroom; my eyes settled on his closet. I heard Harry's footsteps nearing closer to me, and knew I didn't have much time at that point. Sliding inside his closet, I pushed several of his clothes in front of me and shrunk back.
He had small crevices in his closet doors, enough to where I could barely see out. Taking a deep breathe, I watched as Harry entered the room. I was shaking so bad, and could feel the warm tears streaming down my cheeks. I clamped my hand over my lips to keep from crying, and listened to Harry as he chuckled. "You really think you can hide from me?"
My heart seemed to stop, as I pushed myself even further back in his closet. I could make out Harry's figure, as he dropped to his hands and knees to look under the bed. "Baby please stop playing games." His voice carried out like a song, like this was a game to him. I wanted to shrink back even further, and as I did; something fell against my right side. Turning my head, I couldn't stop the ear-piercing scream that echoed throughout the house.
Moving back, the lifeless body of the officer collapsed by my feet; and the closet doors were ripped open. "Found you." Harry's lips lifted into a smirk, and I began to fight against him as he ripped me from the closet. "No Harry, please don't do this." I sobbed.
Ignoring me, he grabbed both of my wrists and wrestled me until we finally collapsed on the bed. He towered over me, and I began to cry even harder as he looked down into my eyes. "Please don't kill me. I don't want to die." My words were barely audible, and I was shaking so bad we were both moving. His dark features seemed to soften, as he shook his head. "You think I'm going to kill you?" He seemed extremely hurt by my words, but I was too shook up to speak; all I could do was nod.
Bringing his face close to mine, he used one of his hands to keep my wrists pinned and used his free hand to wipe the tears from my eyes. I looked at him fearfully, as he cocked his head to the side. "I'd never hurt you love; I just want to be with you." His words made me feel sick and I wanted to hit him again; he was acting fucking insane. He took a deep breathe as he continued. "I never intended for you to find out, ever. Now that you have seen that, and what I did to that poor pathetic officer; I can't just let you go...."
I began to shake my head viciously, as I squirmed underneath him. "Please don't Harry." His eyes met mine as he chucked darkly. "Don't worry, I promise I won't hurt you. I'd never hurt you." He placed a single kiss on my neck and I shuddered. "I'm just going to take you somewhere far away from here. Somewhere where it'll just be us, and I can finally have you all to myself." "Don't do this to me Harry, please don't do this." I knew I sounded pathetic begging, but it was the only option left. "I promise I'll take good care of you." With his words, he trailed his hand up my leg and again I began to sob.
Tightening his grip around my wrists, he pulled the two of us from my brothers bed and began to drag me toward the stairs. I fought as hard as I could, trying to wiggle from his grip that was deathly. "Harry please don't do this. Let me go." I was in hysterics, as my bare feet skidded across the hardwood flooring.
He ignored me, and the minute we got to the stairs; I brought my head down and bit him as hard as I could. Harry released his hold on me, and I instantly took off toward the master bedroom. I could hear him cussing from behind me, and I only made it a few more feet before I was harshly yanked back into his chest. Screaming as loud as I could, I began to slam on his chest as he wrestled to grip my wrists. "Shut the hell up!" His hand wrapped around the collar of my shirt as he peered down at me. My legs felt like jello, and I felt faint. "Harry, please." My voice came out as a whisper and all he could do was laugh.
Pulling me into him again, he proceeded to throw me over his shoulder. "No! Don't do this to me, please Harry!" I began to pound on his back as hard as I could, but he was unfazed.
Walking down the stairs, he exited the house and I proceeded to scream for help as loud as I could. I knew it was completely hopeless, but I was so desperate at this point that I didn't care. "Nobody can hear you Sam." I ignored him and continued to scream as loud as I could until I was thrown into the trunk of his car.
I wrestled against his grip again, as he harshly gripped my wrists and grabbed rope from another part of the trunk. Ignoring my pleads, he tightened the rope around my wrists. "Don't do this Harry. You're better than this. I can help you." His eyes met mine, as he reached over me and grabbed a blindfold. "No I'm not, and that's the problem. I'm helpless Samantha, there's nothing you can do." "Harry we've been friends for years. Please let me help you. You don't want me."
He dropped his face close to mine again, and I sucked in a breathe. "For as long as I can remember, I've been crazy about you; and now that I have you, you're mine."
The tears began to flow again, and I shook my head as he placed the blindfold over my eyes. "Please Harry. I'll do anything."
I felt a damp cloth being pressed against my face, and my world began to spin.
"It's too late for that now. You should've never gone into my closet."
With his final words, my world seemed to stop as everything went black.
