《Friends Matter》Betrayal of the King

TW, blood, sorry ❤️ .
Sam's POV
Eventually Toby let his bee go and hugged me back. He smells like honey. Reasonable, considering that he owns bees. We're both sitting down, wrapped in each other's arms. I feel... safe. For the first time since we got here. "Are you okay?" He whispers in my ear. "I feel like I should ask you that as well." He lets out a breathy laugh. "You know, you never got to hold Beeatrice" "that's what you're calling it now?" He responds with a simple "yeah"
He pulls back and lightly grabs my arm with my palm facing up. With his other hand he reaches up and lets Beeatrice land on his finger. He smiles and gently sets her on my hand. I tense up. I don't have the best experience with bees. I try to pull my hand away like I did earlier but Tubbo's gentle touch keeps me there. "Stay calm, trust me." he whispers. I nod. The small insect flys onto my palm. It tickles. I look up at him, my face warm. He's already smiling back at me. My heart flutters a little.
Finally after hours of waiting Wilbur finally said it was safe. We climb out of the well, it's dark. We all agree that we have to recollect and come back tomorrow and walk back to our houses. Lily, Britta and I all stay in the caravan, our house is still in progress. We say goodnight to each other and turn off the light, ready for a better day. Little did we know that tomorrow would be worse.
Morning comes and I hear voices in the room next door. I sit up and run my fingers through my hair. I grab my boots sitting at the foot of my bed. I pull the last one on and stand up. Lily and Britta are already gone. I walk into the meeting room and sit down. Eret is talking about something that he worked hard to find. A few people turn to me with a small hello. Nikki hands me a plate and sits down next to me. "Hey" she says. Nikki has become sort of an older sister to me. Always there when I need her. "Hi" I respond before shoving food in my mouth. It melts almost instantly.

We walk in a small cluster with Eret walking in front. "Anyways, I grinded for forever to find this, it could really help us." He led us to a small hallway. As we creeped down the stairs we were shouting things like "L'Manberg strong!" And "Pogchamp!" But I had a feeling that something doesn't match up. Eret was gone for a long time, and when he was here he was always quiet. He had a look of regret in his eyes. We made it to a small room with a button in the middle. There were chests with all our names on it. Then it snaps and an alarm in my head goes off. "Wait!"
Too late, Eret presses the button and we get hit with a gas. My eyes burn and I hear coughing around me. "Sam!" I hear Toby yell. I open my eyes and look around the room. Toby is sliding down the wall. I stumble over to him and slide down with him. "Hey, hey, it's okay" I grab his hand. Tears running from his eyes. My head gets woozy. The walls open up to reveal the dream team comes out wearing gas masks. Toby pulls me closer to his chest. Eret stands in the middle. He has a gas mask as well. "Down with the revolution guys, it was never meant to be." I look up at Toby, he's crying. "Eret how could you? I farmed with you for hours" Tommy tried to stand up. Once he got to his feet he looked Eret in the eyes and said, "listen to me, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, you screwed up" Tommy stumbles back down.
Toby's grip on me loosens and his head falls to the side. Shortly after it all went black.

I woke up to someone shaking me. Light floods my eyes when I open them. "Sam?" Lily shakes me awake, Britta looks on next to her. "What" "you need to get up. It's taking forever to get Tommy and Wilbur up and we need help" I nod and stand up. Toby moved to the side and is just starting to come to.
Eventually everyone wakes up and we walk back to L'Manberg with a blanket of gloom sitting over us. There are a lot of fuzzy details, all I know is that Eret is gone. Me, Britta and Lily didn't know him long enough to be affected too much. I just feel bad for Toby and Fundy, they seem to be best friends with Eret.
We got back to the caravan and stepped inside. Nikki takes one look at our faces and immediately begins to question us. We reluctantly answer her questions. She has us all sit down and eat. Fundy stays quiet and Wilbur makes small talk with Nikki. I look to Toby trying to get him to lighten the mood, he's always best at it. But he just sits there, staring off into the distance.
The early fall breeze brushes the hair out of my face. The betrayal still stings a little, but we healed. Toby was the only one still damaged. He still zones out at times. On worse days he would stand up and leave in the middle of a meeting (which we usually hold in Tommy's house.) Leading us to right now, as he just did. This time instead of letting him go I grabbed a blanket and followed him. I walked to the place where he goes when he's upset. The top of the caravan. It was dark and you could clearly see the stars. I climbed the ladder with one hand and held the blanket in the other. I see Toby laying down, looking at the stars. Beeatrice buzzing around him looking for attention. "Hey..." He flinches and looks up at me. "Oh hey Sam, you scared me a little." I could tell that he was trying to hide the waver in his voice.
I sit down next to him and wrap the blanket around us. "Thought that you would get cold" he simply nods. I turn to him and wipe away a fresh tear that runs down his face. But before I could remove my hand he takes his and places it gently on mine. I am aware of the close proximity of our faces, but let's not talk about that. "What's wrong?" More tears crowd his eyes as he whispers, "I miss him. I really do, even if he left us for them. He was like a brother" more tears come. "He-" I don't let him finish. I couldn't. I don't want him to be sad anymore. I place my lips gently on his. I didn't really think this through. I shouldn't have done this. This would ruin everything. My thoughts go on until he kisses me back.
