delicious lies
The shed was silent for a moment. That was until Vers uprooted herself and barged out. Morrigan wasted no time in going after her. She looked back and motioned to them to wait. Then, as she peeked, she heads out from the shed. She watched as the soldier walked out and stood amongst the tall grass, looking out at the sunrise, trying to figure this all out.
Vers's eyes began to sting. "He lied to me. Everything I knew was a lie." Her voice became angry; frustrated.
Morrigan could see how much this affected Vers more than it did herself. She just made a bad judgment on the cause. Vers has lived the last years of her new life, believing in the Kree. She did what they wanted her to do. She listened to what they wanted her to be. A weapon designed to elimate the Kree fed her lies like they were food.
Maria came up besides Morrigan as Talos edged out in front. "Now you understand now."
"What?" Vers retorted. "What do I understand now?" They were all so tired being told what to do, what to listen, what to understand and what to be.
"Yon—Rogg killed Mar—Vell." Talos stated. Even hearing the truth was a blow to Morrigan's honour. "He killed her. 'Cause she found out she was on the wrong side of an unjust war." The discovering Mar—Vell made is the just the same one they're in right now. The only difference is that they're still alive and the Kree don't know.
The truth was easier for Morrigan to digest. It all made sense. The puzzle pieces they've picked up along the way have slowly been put together. However, Vers still had that Kree filter on her mind, body and soul. "No! Your people are terrorists. They kill innocents. I saw the ruins on Torfa!"

Talos explained the Skrulls's place on Torfa. They were the innocents, hiding from death. The desperation in his voice as he asked for her help to seek out of the energy core made the Queen regret everything to do with the Kree. "Lawson always told us at Pegasus that our work wasn't to fight wars, but to end them." Maria said, supporting Talos.
"If we find the core, we can save his people and stop the Kree." Morrigan pleaded, already attempting to think of a plan.
"But I already destroyed it." Vers said. Talos lifted up everyone's spirits by saying she didn't. She only destroyed the shining. The core that powered it was somewhere safe, and Vers had the power to find the coordinates. "You'll use it to destroy us." She replied, still not being able to overcome Kree institution.
Morrigan stepped up to Vers, taking her hands into her own. "They won't." Staring into her hazelnut eyes up so close, being able to feel the confusion, frustration and humiliation swirling around. "Listen to me. We have both been deceived by the Kree. They've manipulated us for their gain. We were puppets in their war against innocents of the Universe." A hand lifts upwards to cup Vers's cheek. "They fed us lies like they were food — belittling us was their only way to control us. Being their tool isn't who you are."
Vers retracted her hands. "You have no idea who I am. I don't even know who I am!" She yelled, frustrated with emotions. She was lost. She had no more identity. She couldn't relate to the Kree anymore because she knew the truth.
Morrigan stepped to the side, catching Maria's eyes. "You are Carol Danvers." The soldier's eyes fluttered with tears. "You were the woman on that black box, risking her life to do the right thing." Her head coked to the side as a sad smile crept onto her lips. "You were my best friend. Who supported me as a mother and a pilot, when nobody else did. You are smart, funny and a huge pain in the ass." Morrigan couldn't help but also smile. "But you were the most powerful person I knew before you could shoot fire from your fists."

"You were badass then. You were badass now. Nothing changed." The sincerity in her voice was so alluring and optimistic. She was glum but the cute little nod she did made her heart swell. "Come on."
The three women embrace. The way Carol Danvers held on to them was tight and loving. She didn't want to let go. No one did.
