pancho's bar
Morrigan lent against the passenger door of the agent's car. She hoped no dirt would smudge onto her black jeans as the Midgard shipowner was very iffy about keeping them clean. She also appreciated the change in fashion. Back then, the style was prim and proper — she did not do prim and proper. She adored the option to roll up the sleeves of some mannequin's oversized grey jacket she hooked on the way here.
Her eyes were glued to the entrance of the Midgard governmental building. Her data indicated the agent assigned to the Kree soldier case knew more of her whereabouts than she did. Yon—Rogg had already informed her of the last communication he had with Vers, which was suddenly stopped. Morrigan was already on her way to Hala when she was broadcasted that Vers had landed on Midgard and was the nearest ally to the planet.
A sigh of relief uttered from her lips as the tall man emerged from the glass doors, touching his brow and instinctively shuddering from the tingle of a sting. "Rough day Nicholas Joseph Fury?" She called out. Nick Fury stopped in his tracks instantly, his hand reaching for his weapon and his eyes wary. "I asked you a question, Agent."
Fury stared at her for just a moment before letting his hand rest by his side. "Yes, ma'am. May I ask why you know my name and, leaning against my car?"
Pushing herself off the door, she took a step forward. The man in the suit almost crept backwards, but he felt deep inside she wasn't the threat he should be afraid of, at this moment, of course. "I know your name because you're the man who's going to find the woman who can blast fire from her fists, and I simply did not want to sit on the floor."
"You're right about finding her, and I do agree about not wanting to sit on the floor —" his brow creased once more, realising the most important question to ask her. "Wait, who are you? Are you another one like her?" The feeling he received from her presence was not human although, it was not a negative one.
Smirking slightly, Morrigan unhooks her belt around her waist and pulls it out. Flicking the belt to the side, the leather belt morphs into a Valyrian steel sword. Fury's eyes don't blink at all, completely flabbergasted by the miraculous power she just exhibited. "My name is Morrigan, Queen of Valyriate and very much a god. The woman is not of my people but an ally. I'm just here to get her back so I can go back home." Morrigan's sword changes back into the belt, and she slips it around her waist quickly.
Fury still hadn't said anything. The only thing that moved was his eyes bouncing from the belt to her face back to the belt. "Okay, that is not the weirdest thing I've heard today." His hands go onto his hips, getting into some decision making a stance. "Okay, something tells me I'm going to need your help, and right now, I'm a lone agent. Come with me, and we will figure out what to do next when we have her." He stumbles a step. "Just don't go flashing around the belt unless necessary, okay? I don't think I'd be able to deal with another alien case."
Maybe it was because Fury was in a very hasty mindset and his sole goal was to find the Starforce soldier, but the decision to allow the Queen to come along was decided with a good gut feeling. So when Fury unlocked his cat, and both people swung open the doors and lowered into the car seats. The agent roared the car to life just as Morrigan slammed the door shut.

As Fury swerved out from the parking lot, Morrigan's head hits the window with a thud. "Oh my ... please keep your belt on." She rubbed the spot on her head as chuckled softly because Fury had the sheer look of fear dancing in his eyes. Fury caught on the little chuckle, and it was like a massive weight was lifted off his chest. The look on her face was all the information he needed to solidify the opinion that she wasn't someone he'd have to worry about.
"Well, if she doesn't retaliate, you won't have to see my belt off again." She joked. The chuckles died quietly as Fury drove through the Midgard city, going through each road that would take them out of the city.
Fury informed the Queen of all the events that'd have occurred when he first met the Starforce soldier. Next, he recalled all previous encounters he had with her and told her everything he found out from the autopsy of the deceased Skrull. Finally, Morrigan spoke about her planet's affiliation with the Kree.
She was even associated with this civilisation because it was the first one to reach out for an alliance with Valyriate. The Kree divulged all reasons for Valyriate to support them, and the decision was made lightly as the Queen wasn't even on the planet at the time.
"So you just send supplies and monitor the Starforce?" She nodded. "And you can't back out from the alliance?"
She shakes her head no. "I don't even want to think about that. I have enough to worry about; I don't need a petty war added to the list." The main concern as Queen was keeping her daughter's father at bay whilst keeping her planet alive. Including a war between two other races was not on the agenda.
Following that conversation was a pleasant silence. They didn't have to exchange anything else because there was no need to. They had a common goal and shared common interests in the situation at hand. Fury had the Midgard music blasting a little too loud, but it was a refreshing tone for the Queen.
A long while into the drive, the city was far behind them, and they were out on the open road. The land was discarded, dry and humid. Morrigan appreciated the cool air flowing from the car a bit too much.
Fury was told that sources had called in to say that the soldier was travelling in the direction of a desert bar attached to some market. He'd received a call at least ten minutes ago to confirm the bar had been cleared in case she did show up.
As the bar got closer, Fury toned down the music. "Now, I don't know how you do this sort of thing, but I prefer a simple conversation with a suspect. So what I'm suggesting is that you stay quiet. If things turn sideways, I want you to get that belt out ASAP." Fury turned into the bar's parking lot and swerved perfectly into a bay.
"You know, if anything, you should stay quiet in case you say something and end up with a hole in your chest." She cocks an eyebrow before unlocking the car door and getting out. The sun hits her like a photon blast, making her hurry under the shaded area.
"You have a point." Fury agreed, locking his car and making his way to Pancho's entrance. "Queens first." Fury opens the door for her with a massive creak. The blonde gave him a look of agreement.

The two walked into an empty bar. It had the dullest setting with a bar at one side with barstools laid up alongside it. Mini rickety wooden tables put out in the middle. At the same time, the surrounding walls were plastered with comfy dining booths, pictures, awards, medals, music, drawings, posters, illuminated signs, some metal gaming box. At the same time, the sound of a tune echoed throughout the building.
Times have really changed, she thought to herself. Fury spoke with the bar owner as she gazed over all the memories stuck along the walls. Her body was filled to the top with nostalgia as she kept on finding pictures of the Midgard army, airforce and navy.
"Don't look glum now. She's here." Then, calling out from the other side of the bar, notions to the outside where the soft rumble of a motorcycle engine dies softly. Morrigan dips out of sight by situating herself right at the back of the bar. "Where you going?" Looking bewildered, Fury got a bit anxious to see the god hide in the shadows while the other alien was about to come in.
"Your planet, your rules, I'm going to stay out of this for now." Pulling out a seat in the dark, Morrigan sits down, hand at the ready to whip out her belt.
Fury and Morrigan watch the steady figure walk past the windows. As the soldier opened the doors, all Morrigan saw was some unrecognisable wave of nostalgia. The Starforce soldier's eyes scanned the interior of the bar with emotions dancing in her eyes. Why was she acting as if she's been here before?
The soldier takes a few more steps into the bar, mind completely taken over by the Midgard decor. She was so entranced and curious, even Morrigan began to look at the walls once again. She then strode over to the wall and ended up examining a photograph of the airforce. Why was she looking at airforce memorabilia?
The sudden shuffle beside her makes the Kree glance quickly. The bartender still hadn't cleared out. Fury must've forgotten or something. The soldier bluntly asked the origin of the photo, and the bartender replied with an obvious answer of a Midgard airport. When she began to edge on for more information, Fury sprouted from out the bar.
"That's classified. Not unlike the file I've started on you." The Kree's face lightens up a bit as if she was glad to see the agent. The bartender realised what altercation was going on and left the room. "But I see you've changed it up a bit. Grunge is a good look for you." A friendly vibe was brewing as the two stood apart from each other.
"Did you have a rough day Agent Fury?" Morrigan silently scoffed to herself, realising she'd said the same words when she first met the Agent.
"It's cool." He begins to walk up the bar, speaking in a sarcastic tone. "You know, had a space invasion, big car chase, got to watch an alien autopsy." He rounds the entry to behind the bar as the soldier meets him there. "Typical nine to five."
"So you saw one?" She sounded surprised. Morrigan guessed she was talking about a Skrull.
"I was never one to believe in aliens, but I can't unsee that." Morrigan knew he was also talking about believing in her.
"This is gonna get a little bit awkward, but I gotta ask —." Her brow dressed as if she was trying to use her eyes to really identify that it was really the Agent. Morrigan knew she could pop out at any moment and save them time, but she wanted to see what the soldier had in mind.
"You think I'm one of them green things?" He sounded baffled as he motioned to himself.
"Can't be too careful." She said in response.
"You are looking at one hundred per cent red-blooded, Earthman." Fury walks over to her and sits on a table's surface.
She tilts her head. "I'm afraid I'm gonna need proof."
"We talking cheek swabs or urine sample?" Morrigan prayed none of that would occur. Stealthy sneaking out from the room in the dark, she hobbled all the way to the bathroom. Creaking it open and softly making it close, she turned on her communications and signalled for Yon—Rogg. The signal crashed as soon as she tried it. Sighing, she switched the contact to her daughter. Surely during her Ball, she'd answer — not at all.
If she could reach either the Kree or her daughter, she couldn't reach home at all. This means her sly escape from Fury's urine sampling was for nothing. Crawling back the way she came, she could hear the conversation between them get louder. Not paying attention, she returned to her seat and watched the two of them from the corner of her eyes.
"Your turn — prove you're not a Skrull." The Queen's eyes widened just as she pulled out the belt. Her eyes were trained on the soldier's fist as it began to glow orange. Just as the belt morphed into the blade, the soldier had stuck out her arm and blasted a photon ray from it. The blast destroys a Midgard machine and shocks Fury even more. As he turned around, he caught a glimpse of Morrigan's body before twisting the background to see the soldier look humble.
Before either of them could utter a word, Morrigan slams the tip of her blade into the floor. The sword carves straight through the wood, creating an even louder thud. The soldier instinctively jumps to the feet as Fury clumsily turns around in his seat.
As the soldier's fists began to glow once more, Morrigan sat up from her seat. The dull light shines upon her. "Now, you can put those away other I'll use this." Swinging up her sword slightly, the soldier looks at the blade carefully before realising who stood before her. Then, shutting down her power, the soldier composites herself.
Speaking in a monotone tongue, the soldier formally addresses her. "Of course, my Queen." She had such respect and admiration for the god before her. The soldier loved how she alone ruled one of the Universe's most prosperously immortalised planets. She knew of Morrigan's crusading history with the Asgard king and her romantic affiliation with the Titan species. The Queen represented the true strength and courage it takes to be such a powerful being. The soldier wanted the qualities that made her idolise the Queen so much.
Morrigan had to subside the rolling of her eyes. She was not a fan of people hovering over her with such formalities. "Thank you — Vers." Fury had to mouth the soldier's name. "Now, tell me why you're still here on this planet." Morrigan slides her belt back on. Vers briefly explains her goal on Midgard and how she plans to uncover the hidden Skrulls and eradicate them. She involves Fury because the only way she'll achieve this is bypassing the planet's government and locating the person the Skrulls are searching for.
The Queen stands in silence for a moment. "Will this new mission aid the war effort?" She asked sternly, wanting only the truth.
Vers knew her new endeavour on this planet as a result of mixed emotions, memories and orders. "Yes, I believe it will."
The queen could sense some falter in her reply, but the fundamental response was true. Sparing Fury a look before locking eyes with Vers once more, she finally allows a smile. "If you believe this mission will help, I believe you. But, Fury, get up. You're with us now."
