《Captain Marvel》Chapter 1: New Girl

After the Skrulls had destroyed the inner defenses of the Kree warship, they started to board it. Dozens of soldiers infiltrated the landing dock of the ship which left most of the Kree traders dead on the floor. Some of the Kree begged for mercy but instead got shot quickly by the Skrulls. Behind the army that was deployed, Kl'rt exited the boarding ship. He slowly walked with one of his hands acting as a sword made out of ice. He killed any of the Kree who was trying to escape through the pods. The Skrull soldiers cleared the way for him until the cockpit.

"Is the Kree warrior inside?" Kl'rt asked one of the soldiers guarding the door.

The soldier nodded and Kl'rt tore the door apart with his ice sword. Inside the cockpit, Captain Mar-Vell was trying to escort some of the injured Kree pilots out of the way. Some soldiers started firing at Kl'rt but he made a shield made of Vibranium which deflected all of the bullets away. He started to kill the soldiers one by one until they were all killed.

"Mar-Vell! The Kree's most valuable soldier, looking defenseless in times of crisis. What has happened to you?" Kl'rt asked, retracting the ice sword and turned it into a flaming chain.

"I'm doing what's right for this race. Protecting them." Mar-Vell smiled and attacked Kl'rt with a sword.

Kl'rt blocked his attack with the vibranium shield and kicked him into the cockpit. Mar-Vell got knocked into the wiring and he was greatly injured in his back. Nonetheless, he stood back up and got ready to fight once more. Mar-Vell slid to the side of Kl'rt and slit his knee open. He groaned in pain and covered it with some ice. Kl'rt rushed towards Mar-Vell and continuously struck Mar-Vell with his chain.

Mar-Vell used his sword to block the attacks but with too much heat, his sword was cut into half and he was taking the full force of a flaming chain. His body was being burnt by Kl'rt while some of the Kree managed to escape.

"You just..." Mar-Vell moaned as he tried to stand on two feet, "let a hundred Kree civilians escape this ship."

"They weren't the plan, Mar-Vell. My initial plan was to kill you." Kl'rt raised Mar-Vell's bloodied face. "And the story they will be talking about, is how they watched the Kree's greatest warrior fall to the Skrull king."

"That's why you have to have a backup." Mar-Vell smirked and struck Kl'rt with a uppercut. He pressed a button near him and the platform started turning upside down. "Good luck telling your story."

Mar-Vell was placed into a ship that was acting as a light for the ship. He powered up his ship but his right hand was damaged heavily from a strike to his right wrist with the chain. There was no more time for him to activate the ship manually due to the banging from above him.

"Computer activate." Mar-Vell groaned as a hologram appeared on front of him.

"Computer activating... good day, Captain Mar-Vell. What may I do for you?" The hologram asked.

"Send me to a planet where it is inhabited by no Skrulls and is safe to land in." Mar-Vell ordered and the thrusters started to power up. He suddenly felt something in his stomach which wasn't good.

"Preparing for..." The hologram started to calculate silently, "616 jumps."

"I should've thought this through." Mar-Vell muttered as he prepared to travel at the speed of light.

From inside the ship, Kl'rt saw the ship that Mar-Vell was in travel to a distant place. Kl'rt punched the wall with anger and it created a very noticeable dent. He reached for his transponder.

"Set a bounty for the head of Captain Mar-Vell. It's for a billion units." Kl'rt ordered to his ship. "So, Mar-Vell. You want to play a game of hide and seek?"

When Carol Danvers opened her eyes, the amount of sunshine that hit her face was unbearable. She started her day wandering around the house because she was tired of all the things she did last night. Her captain's birthday was last night and she must have gotten drunk. If it was already bad, she was supposed to go on a field test for one of the newest models in her section.

She quickly entered the bathroom and started to freshen up. She made sure her face was clean and brushed her teeth. The water was hot but she took a bath anyways. It wouldn't seem much sense to take a hot bath in the summer but she was in a hurry. Once she was done, she dressed up and went outside her house.

The morning sun was making everyone's day miserable. The temperature was making Carol nervous because she might have a hard time flying. After some waiting, a cab arrived at her doorstep and she went inside.

"Where shall I take you on this hot day, Ms?" The cab driver asked.

"The airfield near here." Carol smiled and started to breath a little.

"Must be a hot day. Everyone's drinking a lot of water the past few morning." He chuckled.

"That's how it is in California. You got to appreciate the beauty of it even though your body is sweating like your in a oven." Carol said.

She looked outside and did what she said. She appreciated the view of the place. The people outside were having fun. Taking their dogs out for a walk. Playing some volleyball on the beach. It was a fun time to appreciate California.

But Carol was going to be in a pilot uniform getting ready to test a new model of a old plane. She heard a few nights ago that maybe Howard Stark helped out with the creation.

Fifteen minutes later, she arrived at the facility which was looking new as ever. Two weeks ago they requested to clean and fix the facility. As soon as she entered, she was greeted by many people in the lobby. Most of her co-workers were in the front door waiting for her. They said that she had something special from the captain.

At first, Carol seemed nervous but she picked up her confidence and walked towards the captain's office. The walk towards his office always made her calm. There were portraits hanged up on the walls which really helped her boost her self-esteem.

"Good morning, Captain. You look great today." Carol smiled as she entered his office.

"Carol. Please take a seat." He insisted and she took a seat. "First of all, how did you like the party?"

"It was great, sir. I enjoyed it as much as you did."

"Good. Good. I like it when my best pilot is enjoying herself." He smiled and fixed his seat, "So you know that today is a big day. They'll be testing a new plane and they were hoping that you would name it. It's fast, agile, and easy to control."

"I've heard that. It's a honour to be naming that plane."

"Yes, but I have one condition. You have to fly with Neville."

"No problem. No problem at all." Carol chuckled, "It's going to be easy, Captain."

"I know you have your problems with each other but-"

"Captain. It's going to be alright. You don't have to worry about me. It's going to be easy."

"Alright then, take it to the skies."

Carol exited the locker room fitted with the best gear she has and walked up to the newly-built planes. On the other side was her old friend, Neville.

"Hey, Danvers. Didn't know you would show up. I was already thinking of a name." Neville joked.

Carol sighed. "Cut the bullshit, Neville. Are we going to fly these planes or what?"

"We will, Danvers. We will." Neville chuckled and got inside his plane.

They started their engines and prepared for launch. People were watching them from far away, fascinated with the newest invention of air technology. After a few minutes, they took of to the skies and flew in a single file.

"It feels the same as the old model." Carol radioed in.

"Once you pick up speed, Danvers, it's going to feel like a whole new experience." Neville said.

"Yeah, that's right." Carol scoffed as she flew in circles across the airfield. When she took a peek below, around thirty pilots were watching them, "Looks like theirs a whole audience below us."

"Focus ahead, Carol. You might hit a bird." Neville joked.

"Keep I'm making jokes I might just make a full on brake on front of you."

"Don't be such a prick, Carol. You're making history!"

"Let's take these rides outside the airfield." Carol said, turning her plane towards the exit of the airfield.

"Right behind 'ya."

Carol and Neville then had a relaxing ride around the area. People on the ground stood in awe as they raced through the sky. They then got near the California beaches and it was as hot as being close to the sun. Suddenly their frequencies were freaking out.

"What the hell?" Carol took a closer look on her radio, "Levels are spiking. Can anyone copy?"

Carol waited for a few seconds but no one spoke so she took a look behind her and saw Neville shaking his hand 'no'. Carol sighed because it may have been the plane malfunctioning. And after that, all she could remember was fire.
