She knew that they were going to be able to pull through with what it was that she asked them to do and she knew that there were going to be things that there was going to be done. Poppy knew that she had picked the right people for the job and that she was going to be ready no matter what. But the longer that she sat in front of her computer and stared at all of the S.H.I.E.L.D files that were littered in all of the databases that S.H.I.E.L.D had, she was growing more and more exhausted.
Her dark-haired was twisted into a messy bun as she made her way through her apartment and she let out a heavy sigh as she sat on her couch. She glanced around herself as she looked around her apartment for a few seconds and she began to wonder what it was that was going on around her as she made her way through the place that she lived. But the longer that she was going through the place that she lived in, though as she made her way through the apartment, she found that there was a presence in the apartment that she was in. She clenched her jaw together as she looked through a doorway and she tilted her head to the side as she looked into a room to find Carol standing there.
Poppy stared at her for a few seconds as she stared at her, before making her way into the room and over toward Carol. The two of them stood in front of each other as Poppy wrapped her arms around her shoulders and held onto her and let out a small chuckle. Neither of them knew how to act as she held onto her and when she pulled away, she rested her hands on her shoulders and stared into her eyes for a few seconds.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "What're you doing here? I thought that you were going to give me a call before you were going to make your way here?" Poppy questioned as she stared at the woman in front of her and Carol shook her head as she stared at her. Carol pressed her lips together as she tilted her head to the side for a few seconds, before letting out a sigh.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I thought that I would surprise you," Carol replied to her as she stared at the dark-haired woman in front of her for a few seconds before she reached for her hand and took it in her own. The two of them stared at each other for a few seconds as Carol brushed her thumb against the back of her hand. "And I see that I have." She tilted her head to the side as she stared at her, before meeting her gaze again. "How has your search been for the artifact to help your friend?"
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Poppy pressed her lips together as she stared at the woman in front of her, before shrugging her shoulders, "It's been going alright, I do believe that I have found something that could help her, so I sent a few people out to find it for us. But I just hope that I'm able to help her with her immortality issue," She looked down to Carol's hand as she held onto her own, before lifting her chin to meet her eyes. The two of them continued to look at each other for a few seconds before she reached up and rested a hand on her cheek and brushed her thumb against her cheekbone. "How are you?"
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Carol stared at her for a few seconds as she smiled to her softly, "I've been good. The Skrulls are doing a lot better than they had the last time that you had seen them," She stared at her for a few seconds as she tilted her head to the side, before nodding her head softly. "But it's great to see you, Poppy. I've missed you."

Both of them stared at each other for a few seconds and Poppy didn't know what it was that she was doing until she had leaned in and pressed a kiss against her lips. Carol didn't know what it was that was going on as she kissed her softly and she reached up with her other hand and caressed her face. The two of them stood there in her bedroom as she kissed her softly and quietly before she had pulled away from the sweet moment.
Neither of them spoke as they stared at each other for a few seconds and they stood there. The two of them were silent for a few more moments before they continued to talk about all of the things that they had missed about each other as the other woman had been traveling throughout the cosmos. Poppy knew that the other woman had seen the universe and everything that it had to offer. There were things that Poppy would never know and never see, and things that Carol would never be able to explain to her the more that they spent time with each other.
Hours went by as the two of them talked with each other as they spoke with each other and Poppy knew that there was more behind the relationship that they had with each other. Poppy knew that there was more with the relationship that they had with each other and she knew that she would've done anything to be with the woman that stood in front of her. She would've done whatever it took in order to be with Carol Danvers.
Carol Danvers was the woman from the stars and there were things that she was going to be able to do that no one else would be. She was a good person and Poppy knew that she wouldn't ever be able to have something normal with her – but she would rather be able to have something extraordinary with her than normal any day. And she hoped that she would be able to have just that with her.
Something extraordinary.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
