《SEA GREEN MEETS GOLD (N.M. & P.J.)》Chapter 10: A True Hybrid

Percy, Stefan, and Klaus walked through the smoky mountains looking for werewolves. Stefan was carrying Ray.

Rudy was walking alongside them.

"You okay? Is Ray getting heavy?" The sea green eyed girl teased. The hybrid grinned at her.

"I'm fine." The Salvatore responded.

Klaus added to the teasing, "You sure about that? You know we've been walking for quite some time now."

Percy had a brilliant idea. "I could get on Nik's back and we can race!"

The hybrid laughed as Stefan narrowed his eyes at her.

Klaus looked at the vampire with a smirk. "What do you say, Stefan? Up for a little competition?"

"How about, no?"

Percy nudged his arm. "Aw Stefano. Stop being such a chicken." She proceeded to make chicken noises, "Bok, Bok."

The vampire scoffed at her words. "That doesn't even resemble a chicken."

"I guess you would know since you are one," she grinned at him.

Stefan huffed and stopped walking. "Fine."

A few moments later, Percy was on Klaus's back and his hands held the back of her knees.

Stefan asked, "Are we really doing this?"

"Yes. Alright, get ready. 3, 2,1!" The demigod counted down.

The two vampires ran.

The hybrid easily beat Stefan. It wasn't even close.

Percy cheered and the Salvatore looked defeated.

Rudy barked happily as his tail wagged back and forth.

The sea green eyed girl jumped off Klaus's back. He turned around and she high-fived him.

The hybrid grinned as he continued to poke fun at Stefan. "If you need some water or a little sit-down..."

The vampire responded, "You know, I get that we're, uh—we're stuck together, but if maybe we could skip the chitchat, it'd be great."

I guess he's annoyed he didn't win.

"So much brooding. Your self-loathing is suffocating you, my friend." The hybrid spoke to Stefan as he wrapped his arm around Percy's shoulders.

Stefan replied, "Maybe it's 'cause I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer."

"Thanks to our pal Ray, we found ourselves a pack." They arrived at a clearing where a bunch of people had set up camp.

"There." Stefan walked forward with Ray across his shoulders. He dropped him on the ground in front of the werewolves.

A brunette ran forward from the crowd. "Ray! Oh, my god." She crouched down next to him. "What's going on?"

The girl looked up at Stefan. "Who are you?"

Klaus walked forward with Percy. "The important question is, who am I."

Arrogant.

"Please forgive the intrusion. My name is Klaus."

The werewolves seem to recognize the name. "You're the hybrid."

His ego just got even bigger.

The original smirked, "You've heard of me. Fantastic."

Percy couldn't help but appreciate the way 'fantastic' sounded from his lips. It just sounded much cooler with the accent. Although, to be fair, she thought everything sounded better with his accent.

The demigod sat down on a log and Klaus followed. He liked being close to her. Rudy sat on the ground next to her.

The blond continued speaking, "It's fascinating, actually. A werewolf who isn't beholden to the moon, a vampire who doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid."

The demigod kicked a pebble out of slight boredom.

Ray gasped as he awoke. "Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic."

He used his hands to push himself off the ground a bit. "What's happening to me?"

"Stefan," Klaus called.

The vampire got up, "Are any of you human? Your friend here needs human blood to complete his transition to vampire. If he doesn't get it, he will die."

Percy sensed something farther out in the woods. She stood up and walked around. The voices from the camp became more distant. The puppy stayed in his position and started to fall asleep.

The demigod continued moving and didn't realize how far she wandered from the group. She realized she couldn't hear or see them anymore.

"Percy Jackson," a voice said from behind her.

The girl spun around to see Tammi, one of the empousai she fought a few years ago.

The demigod immediately uncapped her sword. "Ready to lose again?" Percy asked as she did a trick with Riptide. The blade glowed a faint gold light.

The monster gave a disdainful smile. Her form began to change. Her eyes became red and her skin pale. Tammi's teeth grew into razor sharp fangs. "You're gonna die, halfbreed."

"Try me."

The empousa rushed at the demigod with her teeth barred. Percy dodged it and moved to the side. She pulled out a celestial bronze blade from her boot in one swift motion. The sea green eyed girl needed to be prepared for these types of situations so she often had extra blades besides Riptide.

After throwing the knife at Tammi, Percy realized her mistake. Tammi easily caught it.

The monster sneered and rushed at her with the blade. Percy slashed her sword at Tammi. The sword went through her body and a pile of gold dust was left behind. The raven haired girl noticed the empousa managed to cut her arm with the blade before she faded to dust.

Blood dripped down to Percy's hand from the wound. "Schist." The demigod could sense a creek nearby and pulled the water toward her. A few moments later, she opened her eyes to see the liquid moving in her direction. When the water touched Percy's arm, the cut healed.

The sea green eyed girl made her way back to the camp of werewolves.

She walked through the sea of trees to see people who resembled zombies. They walked around slowly and made odd movements.

"What in Hades happened?" Percy saw the blood dripping from the eyes of one of the werewolves.

Klaus glanced at her, "Ah, you're back. I was wondering where you wondered off to."

Rudy was still napping off to the side.

She noticed all the werewolves had blood leaking from their eyes. "Oh gods."

Percy walked over to Klaus but before she could say anything the hybrids began forming a circle around the two.

Suddenly the hybrids started rushing at the pair. Percy pulled out her sword again.

When one of the hybrids tried to attack her, Percy stabbed him, causing him to topple to the ground.

"Who's next?"

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Klaus and Percy looked at the dead bodies surrounding them. The labrador was curled up on the ground near Percy. He was tired from all the walking they did today. Stefan appeared with Ray draped across his shoulders.

He dropped the hybrid on the ground.

The original explained, "They went rabid. Some of them we killed. The others just bled out."

He stood up from his seat, "In the end...they're all dead."

The demigod got up from the log too.

Klaus yelled angrily as he threw a beer bottle at a tree. Even through his rage, he made sure it was no where near the demigod.

He was beyond frustrated. "I did everything I was told! I should be able to turn them. I broke the curse, I killed a werewolf. I killed a vampire. I killed the doppelgänger."

Klaus saw the worried expression on Stefan's face. "You look like hell."

"Well last I checked, I'm dying and you don't want to heal me." He held out his arm with the werewolf bite.

"What?" Percy exclaimed. She didn't know he was bitten.

Klaus glanced at the body on the ground near Stefan.

The vampire spoke, "I had to take him out. I didn't have a choice. I failed you. I'm sorry." He stepped forward. "Do what you have to do."

Percy looked back and forth between the two. "It should have worked." The hybrid sounded defeated.

He turned around and picked a bottle up off the floor. Klaus bit into his wrist and let the blood fall into the bottle. The blond handed it to Stefan. "Bottom's up."

The vampire took the bottle.

"We're leaving." Klaus glanced at the pile of dead bodies surrounding them. "It seems you two are the only comrades I have left."

Percy felt bad for him. He just didn't want to be alone.

She kept her eyes on the hybrid. "Hey, Stefan. Can you walk ahead?"

The vampire turned on his heel and left.

Percy moved so that she was right in front of the hybrid.

The raven haired beauty gently placed her hand on his cheek and looked into his eyes. "We'll figure it out," she assured him.

His face softened. Percy pulled him in for a hug. The hybrid wrapped his arms around her waist.

Nobody had hugged him in a long, long time. He and his siblings weren't really that close with each other. The few friendships the hybrid had made never lasted long.

Being in her embrace, made him feel considerably better.

He didn't understand how the demigod had such a huge effect on him. Everything about her seemed to draw him in.

Despite, his immense rage only moments ago, Klaus felt at peace in her arms.

Percy smiled up at him, when she pulled away.

In all of his thousand years, the hybrid swore the green eyed girl in front of him had the best smile he had ever seen.

The adorable puppy barked at his two owners. He looked back and forth between them.

Percy glanced at the dog in amusement, before looking back up at the hybrid. "Come on, let's go catch up with Stefan."

She took a step toward the direction the Salvatore went but paused when she noticed Klaus wasn't following. He was facing Rudy who had decided he didn't feel like walking. The puppy stayed in his position, looking up at the hybrid with his big brown eyes.

Aren't puppies supposed to be full of energy?

Klaus sighed before picking up the dog.

Rudy licked his face affectionately.

The original turned his head away to dodge him.

Percy took out her phone and took a picture. When the phone camera made a flash, Klaus snapped his head towards her. "Did you just take a picture of me?"

The demigod laughed. "Psh, no."

"Percy." He sent her a threatening look. She just grinned in response. "What? It's a cute photo."

"Give me your phone."

The mischievous demigod shook her head. "Nah. Don't think I will."

"Persephone." He stepped forward and met her gaze. "Delete the photo."

He was trying to appear intimidating but failed horribly. It's impossible to look scary when holding a cute puppy.

Percy placed her phone back in her pocket. Sending him a grin, she held out her hand. "Let's go."

Klaus narrowed his eyes at her in a final attempt of convincing her to delete the evidence on her phone.

He rolled his eyes but placed his hand in hers. "Fine, love. But if you dare show that to a single soul, you will regret it."

Percy laughed. "Okay, Nikkie."
