《Philocaly | DNF》11 - interlocks

Dream woke up to chatter downstairs. He slowly rose from his slumber, rubbing his tired eyes and glancing at the alarm clock.

It was nearly 11am.

He opened his eyes wider, rubbing them one more time then sprinting out of the room.

I'm such a bad host

He quickly ran downstairs, only to be in sight of George, who was sitting alone at the island table.

George glanced at Dream, slowly sipping his coffee.

"It's about time you wake up, sunshine."

"I'm sorry, George. I didn't get much sleep last night. I would've made you breakfast."

Dream them finished his sentence, sitting beside George.

"That's alright, cereal was fine."

"Is Nick awake?"

"Yeah, he's filming in his room."

"Oh." Dream mumbled.

The boys sat in silence as George scrolled through Instagram on his phone, leaned against the counter.

"Any plans for today?" George suddenly asked, breaking the silence.

"Um. I was actually thinking a lot last night. Maybe we could do laser tag or the Zoo? Maybe the beach."

George chuckled, tipping Dreams chin with his fingers and shoving his face to look towards the window. Rain was pouring violently.

He hadn't even noticed.

"Well.. maybe just laser tag then."

His words were followed by a giggle from George.

"Earlier Nick told me he wanted one of us to stop by a corner store and pick up some drinks for tonight. Like alcohol and stuff."

Dream raised an eyebrow.

"Of course Sap would recommend drinking although knowing both you and I don't drink."

Before anymore words were spoken, Dream caught the glance of George peering into his eyes.

Don't make eye contact. If you make eye contact, you won't be able to look away, Dream thought to himself.

Soon enough, a loud bleep came from Dreams phone.

"Oh. It's Annie." He told George.

George didn't answer, scooting his seat closer to Dreams to see what she texted him.

Annie

Haha sounds good. Text you later.

Dream bit his lip, scrolling. He had completely forgotten whatever they were talking about.

"She seems pretty.. interested." George mumbled to himself.

"What? Oh. I mean.. yeah. Shes.. pretty."

George felt himself gulp, swallowing a lump in his throat that had formed.

He forced a smile.

"But I don't know, George. Sapnap kinda forced it."

A sense of relief came over George.

At that moment, Sapnap swung his door open and jogged into the kitchen, where Dream and George were sitting closely.

"Hey guys! I finished filming."

Dream quickly shut off his phone and smiled. "Okay. George and I were thinking laser tag today."

"Oh, hell yeah dude. We should try to get on opposite teams to go against each other."

"Wait, what?" George asked as Dream started to walk upstairs.

Sapnap glared.

"C'mon, Georgie. It'll be fun."

George glared right back at him, crossing his arms. Sapnap waited until Dream was fully upstairs, then stood closer to George.

"Hopefully I can find a way to get you two close to each other." He whispered.

George shot his eyes up to Sapnaps.

"Nick, what the hell?"

Sapnap smirked. "I'm doing you a favor."

"No, no. Can you just stop? You've been acting like this since we got to fucking Florida. Dream is my best friend and if you keep making these little fantasies in your mind about what you think is happening, you're just gonna make this awkward. Lay off, I don't have feelings for Dream whatsoever and I never will," George whisper shouted, taking few breaths.

Sapnap stood in silence.

"You.. actually don't?"

George stared at him for a moment before answering.

"I don't. It's not my fault I have literally never actually seen what he looks like until a couple days ago. I'm nervous. That's the only reason."

Sapnap bit the inside of his cheek, feeling a little embarrassed.

Maybe it's true. Maybe George actually doesn't have feelings for Dream, and maybe Dream actually doesn't have feelings for George.

"You saw signs that weren't signs, Sap. Please. Forget it. Okay?"

Sapnap slowly nodded, George standing and trudging upstairs, staring at his own feet.

Holy shit have I been acting like an idiot? Sapnap is suspicious.

He slammed the door to his room shut, biting his nails.

I don't have feelings for Dream. This whole situation is just weird. Right?

Right?

After an unnecessary long drive, the three arrived at the laser tag arena. It wasn't until they arrived that George had realized this would be a lot harder than he thought.

He's fucking colorblind.

As they approached the building, Dream and George walked behind Sapnap.

As Sapnap pulled open the double doors, George's hand flew to Dreams arm, pulling him back.

Concerned, Dream stared at him.

"Hey, you okay?"

George shook his head. "I'm stupid. I'm colorblind, I won't even be able to tell which team I'm supposed to be shooting at."

Sapnap bit his lip, standing still at the doors with his hands in his pockets, glancing from Dream to George.

"Okay, George. You'll stay on my team and we can stay together."

Sapnap raised an eyebrow.

"What about me?"

Dream smirked. "You can be on the opposite team."

Sapnap glared, Dream and George now approaching the doors, following him in.

George had realized half way in his hand was still glued to Dreams arm, quickly shoving it away.

He could hear Sapnap scoff and laugh from behind them.

The three approached one of the employees, following him to his stand.

"We're here for the 1pm time," Dream told him.

"Okay," he replied, tapping his tablet.

His eyes scanned through.

"Alright. You guys will all be receiving a gun, fingerless gloves, and two light up bands with your team color. One band around your waist, and one you can tie around your arm or your forehead. There are eight people on both teams. If your band starts to glow red, you have been shot and you must return back to your base. No food or drinks aloud in the arena, and there is a half time."

The boys nodded as the employee spoke, George's muscles tending up.

Every once in awhile, Dreams hand would shift and brush up against George's hand, which sent shivers down his spine.

He craved his touch, even if it was small.

Before they knew it, they had their gear on. Dream, George and six others were on the purple team while Sapnap and seven others were on the yellow team.

George knew this was unnecessary, it would be easy to tell the difference between the colors, but if this meant being side by side next to Dream the whole time, it was worth it.

Both teams started on opposite sides in their bases, lined up with guns ready.

The slow countdown was annoying, George just wanted to start playing.

Once the countdown was over, the entire purple team raced out towards the obstacles and different walls, scouting.

Dream hurried, grabbing George by the arm and jogging with him, around the walls nearest to their own base.

When George was about to ask about guarding their own base, Dream turned and pressed a finger up against his lips, looking down at him.

George quickly shoved him off, Dream covering his own mouth trying not to laugh.

"Really, Dream?" George whispered with a scoff. "We're just gonna hide the whole time?"

Dream shook his head. "I really wanna piss of Sap. Let's hurry up and find him first."

George was expecting Dream to grab a firm hand on his arm again, but this time he took his hand.

Dream started quietly walking with him, their fingers interlocking.

George's jaw nearly dropped, observing each finger and how perfectly they laced together. He nearly dropped his gun, not looking ahead but only at their hands.

Please. I want this to last long. Don't let go.

"George!" Dream shouted, tugging his hand away.

He watched as their vests lit up red.

They were found.

Dream gave him a hard glare as Sapnap started laughing his head off, gripping his knees for support.

As they walked back to their base to revive, Dream walked in front of George, annoyed.

"Hey! It's just a game, Dream."

Dream turned back to face George.

"If you didn't want to come play why did you agree? You weren't paying attention at all."

"Well if you didn't grab my hand like that then maybe.."

Dream stopped walking, turning to face George again.

"Oh? Was I distracting you, George?" He asked, with a smirk.

George cleared his throat, forcing eye contact.

"Just shut up and walk, Clay."
