《The Untold Truth (Kakashi's Little Brother) *COMPLETED*》Chapter 13: We're All Broken

It was night time and Maasaki and I were at our campsite. I sat quietly by the fire as Maasaki cooked the fish. It was getting pretty cold out, but maybe because I was still losing blood.. not as much as before, but it was still going.
"Satoshi..."
"What?" I said quietly yet irritably.
"Your eyes... they're losing its color." he said.
"I'll be fine."
"You always say that, yet something bad is bound to happen." he said sadly.
"Stop caring about me... it's very irritating."
"Gomensai..."
"And stop being so nice! Arg! It's so frustrating!" I said angrily.
"If that's how you truly feel..." he said sadly.
"I'm going for a walk." I said agitated.
"But-"
"Urusai!"
I slowly made my up and groggily walked myself away. I didn't hear a word from Maasaki as I walked away, but I knew he was watching. Of course I felt bad for saying what I said, but I just feel angry!
'What? Why are you angry?'
'You shouldn't wander in my memories... that is one of the reasons why you shouldn't have done that.'
'Yes... I am okay with it.'
'Like I told you before... to protect those closest to me.'
'Because it is best to gain their trust, and then attack them blindly.'
The sword's voice went silent as I slowly lost that angry feeling. So this is what he meant when we were linked as one. I thought if only I felt something, it would as well. I never thought it could go the other way around too.
I began making my way to the river that we caught the fishes at and sat by the bank. I looked into the coursing water to look at my appearance and Maasaki was right. My eyes fading... it looks like I could die any minute, yet I feel fine.. Well, besides the whole slowly walking thing.

If I could... if I could just be , I wouldn't have to suffer anymore. No! Wait, what am I thinking?! I made it this far... I- I can't just end it so soon. But, then again.. if I go, Madara can't have my eyes when I finally do die. Maybe if I-
"Satoshi!"
I was interrupted as I neared the river to touch it.
"What are you doing?!"
"Touching the river... what does it look like Maasaki." I said bluntly.
"The current is too strong! You could be pulled in!" he said worriedly.
"Good... maybe then I won't have to deal with you anymore."
"That's not funny Satoshi! You could have been pulled in and I wouldn't have known if I didn't follow you!" he shouted.
"I don't care! Put it in that thick skull of yours!" I retorted.
"I'm getting tired of your 'I don't care' attitude! I know you do!"
"And getting tired of your stupidity! Just shut up and do your job as a partner, a friend!" I shouted.
"Well, as a , I have to make sure partner doesn't die! And right now, he's going to if he doesn't stop being so stubborn!"
"Oh, we're going to see who'll be dead!" I said.
"Why you-!
Both Maasaki and I froze in our spots as the voice of the sword spoke up.
Purazuma said.
"Eh... where's that voice coming from?" Maasaki said, looking around like a maniac.
I face palmed. "It's the sword Maasaki..."
"Oh.. I knew that!" he said.
"Purazuma, I don't want you to wander in my memories please. Those are now off limits to you." I said.
The voice faded away once more as a massive headache appeared. I gripped my head as I began walking to the camp.

"W-Wait for me!" Maasaki said running to my side.
Maasaki wrapped my arm around his neck, supporting me.
"So.. was that the sword talking when we were arguing?" he asked.
"I guess you can say that.." I replied.
"Well, I didn't mean anything I said... I was just heated in the moment." he mumbled.
"That's fine... I too apologize for my choice of words."
"Satoshi?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think one day we'll be set free from the Akatsuki?" he asked.
"Don't be foolish..."
"Well, I do.. one day, I'll be able to go back to my old life, but with just a bit more knowledge." he said.
"I believe the Akatsuki will fall... butit is uncertain of who will remain alive. But I know where our fate stands." I said.
"Do you think we'll live? The two of us?" he asked.
"I believe that will live.. me however, I won't last much longer." I said sadly.
"If it's about the blood loss, Sasori is going to do a blood fusion for you! So no need to wor-"
"No.. I fear that I will die of a weak heart."
"Weak heart? You're not sick are you?! We should probably head out inste-"
"As in a broken heart Maasaki. I may be strong... but I'm not strong enough." I mumbled.
"Is it about your brother?" he asked.
"No..."
"Then what is it?"
"Holding in my emotions... that is a fate I know will truly get me killed."
"We can talk about it if you want." he said.
"It is best to not say a word..."
"It'll make you feel better though."
"I don't want to feel better, Maasaki. I want to go ."
"Satoshi..."
Maasaki sat Satoshi down seeing that after his sentence, he had fallen asleep. Maasaki quietly ate a fish watching his sleeping partner. He wanted to understand more about him but he was so closed off that it was nearly impossible. Maasaki sighed as he leaned onto a tree.
'He's suffering more than me... unlike me, he has someone waiting for him, making both sides suffer longing for the other.'
Losing his appetite, Maasaki threw his fish to the ground. He began to poke the fire with a stick and threw in another log to keep it lit.
'You say that you know where our fates will go, Satoshi... and I too believe we're all going to die. But isn't it nice to think we'll have a happy ending? I mean, that's what he believed in.. now that I think about it, our roles have reversed from my childhood. Ha-ha, who knew... a history really does repeat itself.'

VOID EMPIRE: IMPERIAL MAGE
Eric Grayson was just a welder by day and fantasy junky by night. His free days were spent camping in the woods and reading. When he falls through a crack in the foundation of reality his life is going to get a lot more interesting. Making his way through the sea of chaos, he finds himself, with a little help from a Goddess, in a new universe, on a new planet. The exalted mage lords of the Empire have ruled for over two thousand years. Keeping the Empire safe from the tribes of beast kin and the void monsters that break into reality. A world on the edge of the great universal tree, a bastion against the ever-encroaching void. The realm of the dead and souls is far. The touch of the Gods and Goddesses is faint and growing weaker. This is a Litrpg / Gamelit where I am seeking to explore the idea where an Empire like Rome made it to the Edwardian/Victorian period. With all the decadence and kinky/bdsm stuff, Rome was known for, intact and evolved. Think pride and prejudice but the complete opposite of prudish. This story contains explicit scenes. This is not a collect slave women to bang story. This is not an endless struggle grind. The character is OP. The character is figuring out how to adapt his power to the world. Last, I will point out, glass is five hundred time sharper than steel and can be sharpened down to just a single atom in thickness. Please leave a review and rating as it helps me improve my writing. Feedback is always appreciated; I hope you enjoy. I am working on my grammar as well and hopefully it will improve, through editing. As It has never been a strong suit of mine. chapters Sat 7 pm... until the series is complete.

The Devil's own sins
Writer updates available for free on patreon. The following account, dear reader, is a recollection and retelling of the story of the first imp. The last devil born from the original primordial pit at the dawn of time, and the lowliest speck of that first generation. It recounts the tale of Thozronnath the pitiful and his steady rise from obscurity, perpetually stuck as a punching bag for his betters until the day hell itself spat him out. The information presented here is pieced together from eye-witness reports and second hand hearsay, sometimes from creatures with more than two hands. I can not tell you with any degree of accuracy how much of it is true as it begins long before our time and it's true ending lies far unto the future still. I can tell you one thing though, it was confusing as hell. Cover: Illustration for John Milton's Paradise Lost by Gustave Doré (1866), a thankfully public domain image. Currently on hiatus. BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
