You're not sure how you ended up agreeing to have dinner with Jimin and a few of his friends.
After being lectured by Mr. Min, helping him organize his paperwork, and clean up the entire classroom, not only did you feel like you were a high schooler again with the unnecessary punishments, but you were also starving.
Jimin offered taking you out to eat and your mouth moved uncontrollably, offering to have dinner at your place instead. And when he said he was going to bring a few others your unruly mouth agreed again without thinking twice.
You stare down at the bags and bags of takeout Jimin is helping you carry to the apartment elevator.
"Do we really need all this food?" You ask for the thousandth time since you left the little take out shop.
"Trust me, we eat a lot of food," Jimin promises with a small laugh. "Consider us human vacuums."
Speaking of a human vacuum.
You manage pull out your cell phone and send a quick text.
You leave it on read and gulp while unlocking the door to your apartment reluctantly. As you enter you can spot Jungkook lazily lounging on the couch, controller in hand as he plays his favorite video game.
Normally, you wouldn't worry about bringing guests over, but Jungkook made it too obvious by the way he bumped harshly against Jimin's shoulder while exiting the classroom today that he doesn't seem to enjoy his presence very much.
The reason? You're not quite sure...
"Y/N? Is that you?" You hear Jungkook yell from the couch, trying and failing to turn his head as he dodges his opponents attacks on the flat screen.
"Uh-- Yeah! I-I'm home!"
You rush into the kitchen, pulling Jimin along with you as you hear the game pause. Jimin's brow raises in amusement, watching as your hands do a weird shaky motion as you realize how high pitched your voice came out. Cursing silently, you begin to pull out plates and cups for the remaining guests yet to arrive.
"So what's the sur... " Jungkook's voice trails off as he enters the kitchen, eyes zeroing in on Jimin who tries to offer a polite smile. "prise," he finishes in a monotone voice.
"Y/N didn't tell me you two were roommates. I hope I'm not intruding."
There's a slight condescending tone to Jimin's voice that Jungkook picks up on in an instant.
He tongues the inside of his cheek, taking a deep breath through his nose and all you can do is stand there and watch in confusion and apprehension.
What is Jungkook's problem today?
"Actually, I don't think I like-- "
"Look! Food!" You suddenly exclaim with too much enthusiasm, holding up a bag of takeout for him to see, practically throwing it up to his face, bag in full view to block Jimin. "And it just so happens to be your favorite."
Jungkook remains unbothered, slowly pushing the take out bag away from his vision. "What's he doing here?" Is all Jungkook says, his eyes narrowing in on Jimin who's standing awkwardly with utensils in his hand.
"Well, you see, we were both hungry and wanted something to eat and then we were gonna go out to eat but then we figured we might as well eat here with his friends and-- "
"Wait, he's bringing friends?" Jungkook interrupts your nervous rambling and your eyebrows start to furrow in irritation at his random attitude.
"I don't complain whenever you bring your 'special' friends over to stay the night, or when they eat my cereal in the morning!" You counter and Jungkook lets his mouth hang open speechlessly, considering how truthful your words are.

You say a silent prayer to all the cereal lost by the mouths of his one night stands.
"Yeah, lighten up man, we're all friends here, right?" Jimin raises a hand not holding the silverware for Jungkook to connect in a high five.
Jungkook sizes him up slowly before dragging his eyes to yours in simmering discontent. "I call a full container of rice. No complaints," and with that he stalks away.

You follow behind Jimin as another knock to the front door sounds throughout the little apartment, but jump back in surprise as four guys barge in through the door, consuming Jimin in an affectionate tackle. A soft smile forms as you take in the excited shrieks coming from the fully grown men.
"Guys, this is Y/N," Jimin says and you greet them politely before guiding them into the living room where everything is set up and ready to eat.
Jungkook is sitting on the couch with a grumpy look on his face, rice already in hand and being shoveled into his cheeks like a squirrel collecting nuts for the winter.
"And thats Jungkook," Jimin continues, small frown briefly appearing. "Her roommate."
"Her best friend," Jungkook snaps with a stuffed face, eyes trying unsuccessfully to burn holes into Jimin's face.
But Jimin simply ignores Jungkook's weird attitude and turns to face you instead. "This is Namjoon hyung, Jin hyung, Hoseok hyung, and Taehyungie," Jimin gestures down the line of beautiful men standing before you.
"Thanks for having us over, Y/N," the one with brown hair and cute dimples who you now as Namjoon offers a thankful smile and you nod.
"It's no big deal really. Next time I'll cook dinner instead of buying it. Have a seat."
They all hustle over to the coffee table, automatically reaching for the food like a pack of rabid hungry wolves. Quietly, you take a little bit here and there and leave the rest for them to pretty much destroy.
They've definitely earned the name of human vacuums, that's for sure...
They chat amongst themselves about their classes and you find out that Namjoon and Hoseok are seniors except Taehyung, Jimin, you, and Jungkook aside from Jin who has luckily already graduated with a masters.
"So, are you two dating or something?" The energetic ebony haired man known as Hoseok asks, eyebrows raising up and down as he eyes between you and Jimin with a smirk.
You can feel Jungkook stiffen beside you on the couch as you panic. The gasp you intake causes a few grains of rice to suck into the back of your throat and you cough, pounding on your chest as you reach to chug back some water.
Jimin clears his throat and glances in your direction. "What are you talking about? W-we just met today," he says quietly, shyly, before slurping some noodles into his mouth.
"You see, our Jiminie here has never invited us to meet a girl before. You must already be special," the oldest, broad shouldered Jin pipes in a taunting tone, clearly out to embarrass his younger friend.
"Guys, stop it," Jimin begs, face turning red in absolute humiliation, but you giggle at how cute he looks when flustered.
"Well if you won't call dibs on her, I will," Taehyung chimes in, moving the few strands of silver hair that fell in front of his eyes away to get a better look at you.
In response of his flattering comment you blush as Jimin's friends all "oooooooo" and push him around playfully, continuing their game of teasing their friend.

Meanwhile, Jungkook is the quietest he's ever been, scrolling on his phone in eerie silence as the others converse in the small group. You notice that all he's eaten is the rice he claimed earlier, another indication that your usually always hungry bunny rabbit is upset about something. It's hard for him to get close with other people, you know this, but there's a provoked energy that surrounds his form, and it makes you both uncomfortable and worried.
Gently, you nudge Jungkook's shoulder but he merely glances in your direction. "Kookie, what's wrong?" You ask with one of your favorite nicknames for him. It's the name you use every time you want him to buy you your favorite food.
But Jimin hears your question clearly. "Yeah, Kook, what's wrong?" Jimin turns to face Jungkook as the others eye him suspiciously.
Clearly not amused with Jimin's new nickname for him, Jungkook glares at the floor. "I'm just not feeling well," he snaps, standing abruptly to walk towards his room. "I'm gonna go to bed."
He seemed fine earlier today. Irritated, but not sick...
"You're leaving?" You ask in confusion, ready to stand up yourself but Jimin lays a hand on your thigh to keep you in place.
Normally you would feel distressed having someone you barely know touch you like this, but the look on Jungkook's face has worry exceeding any other emotion. You hesitate, eyes glancing between your new group of friends and your best friend.
"Is that jealousy I hear?" Hoseok mocks with a funny grin on his face and Jungkook freezes in place in front of his door, hand firmly on the knob.
More fits of "oooooooo" sounds around the living room followed by a couple laughs from Taehyung and Namjoon.
"Well, Jungkook? You like Y/N? Is that it? My fault, man, I didn't know you-- " Hoseok presses on and you were about to scold him, to diffuse the now tense conversation, until Jungkook answers.
"Don't be ridiculous. It's not like that at all. Y/N and I are best friends. You know nothing about me so don't go around assuming shit about me you don't know the half of," his answer is quiet but the loud aching pound of your heart is loud in your ears.
His door slams shut and you all hear the lock twist. There's a moment of silence, everyone looking at each other in confusion.
"Wow... He couldn't take a joke very well," Jin concluded and all the guys agreed awkwardly in unison with the eldest.
That's the thing... Usually he can...
You can only sit there, the emptiness mentally cutting at flesh as Jungkook's presence on the couch suddenly leaves the whole room feeling dull, barren. His words replay in your mind and suddenly you feel queasy, hurt about something that should have sounded normal, mutual, coming from his mouth.
"You know, Y/N, I actually heard about Jungkook in class today," Taehyung turns to face you, nibbling on a piece of half eaten chicken.
"I heard he has a reputation... with girls. How are you friends with someone like him? Are you two... you know, friends with benefits or something?"
You shake your head at his comment, not surprised at all that the new hot freshman is now a topic and target for all girls, young and old. But before you can reply that you've been friends with Jungkook since childhood, Jimin speaks up.
"You really think they're fucking?" he snorts. "Not a chance. Did you see what just happened? She clearly doesn't stand a chance with him," his words were obviously made as a rude joke but it struck a nerve deep inside you.
"Excuse me?" Your voice comes out in a growl and Jimin raises a brow in entertainment, slurping his noodles before setting down the take out container to cross his arms.
You know that his teasing words shouldn't bother you, but lately you really have been thinking more about how Jungkook goes after every girl that sets even one toe in his bubble, but he hasn't acknowledged you whatsoever, someone who has always been practically submerged in his bubble for years. Yes, you're both friends, but does he really not think of you as a woman at all?
Why is that so irritating?! Why the hell do I feel the need to be validated by that asshole when--
"You heard him yourself. He only sees you as a friend, nothing more," Jimin presses on and you huff.
"That's because we don't want to make it anything more!" you defend back, crossing your arms to mimic his stance.
"I don't think you could make it more even if you tried!" he challenges and your eye twitches at the dare.
"If I tried I'm sure I could have him completely wrapped around my finger," you protest and the boys all glance back and forth in excitement, eyes sparkling in the heat of the moment.
Jimin lifts himself off the floor onto his knees to hover closer to your face, his orbs dancing in anticipation as you continue the face off.
"Well if you're so sure... want to make a bet out of it?"
"Make your offer," you're not sure where all this new found confidence came from but it's charging you with energy, hairs standing straight on your body as you glance between his eyes stoically.
"Make Jungkook fall in love with you. Make him yours. And because I'm feeling nice, I'm giving you until the end of the semester," his confident smirk made you want to swipe it right off his face but you remain calm nonetheless.
"Jimin, don't-- " Taehyung tries to intervene but Jimin isn't having it.
"Loser has to do one semester of work for the other next semester. No exceptions."
A whole semester basically handed for free?!
"Deal."
The room lulls into stillness, all eyes glued to your face in shock.
"Deal," Jimin reaches out a hand and you grasp to validate the bet, shaking once, twice, three times in confirmation.
"Good luck," Jimin smirks in conviction and yet again annoyance bubbles deep within.
"I won't need it. This will be a piece of cake," you try to say assuredly and ignore the sweat beginning to form from nerves at the back of your neck.
"This isn't going to end well," Taehyung mumbles to Jin who only wraps an arm around his younger friend, nodding sadly in response.
The adrenaline dies down and slowly the deal sets into your soul, realization running you over harder than a semi.
But it's too late by this point. You've already made your claim.
What the hell kind of bet even is this...? Oh well, let's just hope it'll be worth it.
Jimin's face turns dark at your declaration, his breath still fanning against your face at the close distance between you two. "Trust me, you're going to need it. You'll never get into his pants, let alone his heart."
Mission: started.

It Started with Slime
Before we jump in, let me say that the MC starts stupid, so the language and writing style is straightforward to reflect this. The writing improves with the MC and as the chapters progress (I hope). It is also a gradual growth story, so no zero to hero in ten seconds... with that out of the way: An alchemical experiment has gone wrong and results in a Slime Monster. It doesn't have a name at first and is something that it will need to work out! This story follows a Slime that starts as a Micro Slime with some level of consciousness, and there is more to it than meets the eye. Survival is the name of the game. To improve, it works hard to grow, evolve and become more powerful to survive its harsh new reality. There is a lot more going, and only time will tell if this Slime (all its various versions) can become strong enough to make it through the strife to the other side. It's a harsh world, after all. It Started with Slime is a story with a Monster Protagonist Evolution story. There will be no profanity and no sexual content, and there will be some violence and fighting descriptions. I am a native English speaker, and so the English here should be to a good standard. That said, even though editing, there may be some corrections and typos, so if you see some, let me know! If it bothers you a lot, I am working to make sure all chapters have no typos, but of course, some might slip through. I will endeavour to correct any picked up, though! Also, I started this a few months ago and so any feedback is always appreciated, also reviews and ratings! If you like or don't like the story, let me know in the detailed reviews! That always helps me see what is good and what needs improving. Working on releasing chapters twice a week, I will try to increase that as time goes, but at the moment, that is what I can release. Patreon has more. If the story gets more popular, then I will increase the releases. I am aiming ultimately for a chapter a day if I can get to that. Chapters are roughly 1500 words, with Interludes every five chapters being more or less than that! Enjoy! Edit: Book 1 finished on Patreon, and the format for Book 2 is slightly different with Interludes every three chapters, and the release schedule will be three chapters a week. Cover by: Faren Discord: https://discord.gg/eDuZaEAAqG This story is published and available on Royalroad, Webnovel, ScribbleHub, Wattpad, and extra chapters on Patreon!

In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing.
