You felt like shit.

Your head felt like its been treated like a nail; a hammer pounding into your skull. Your body was so heavy like you've been chained down by something or you definitely felt your weight. Your vision is spinning so much and you wanted to just stay in bed all day. The bed felt like the fluffiest thing you've ever lay on. You could just stay here forever if you want to.

Huh. You wonder whose bed is this? Your own bed can never be this so soft and warm no matter how much you prayed to the gods.

With a jolt, you sat up, head aching and not giving you relief any time soon.

"Where in the world am I?" you muttered. This room certainly isn't yours. It's way too rich for your own liking. Heck, the bookshelves full of manga and merchandise isn't there. The walls weren't decorated with the anime posters. Your messy cheap table was replaced by black slim table with a closed laptop on top.

Then, it came to you. Oh, shit motherfucker. Your first day on work. The heartwarming welcome party. The cakes. Sec. Kochou telling you to loosen up before plunging head first to hell tomorrow. Alcohol. Holy shit. The alcohol. Then, blank.

"Oh my god," you mumbled. Your eyes fluttered down. You realized your white dress shirt was open, revealing your black bra. Someone tell you where in the hell are your slacks? WHY ARE YOU IN YOUR UNDERWEAR???

You took a deep breath, covering your face in shame. Did you just go with some random guy in the company for a one-night stand? You can't even remember the name of the guy.

You need to think about your decision-making skills.

A very unpleasant feeling settled in your stomach. You rushed to the bathroom and threw up. As much as you want to take a day off today, there's no way in earth you're spending your first paid absent over some petty hungover.

You spotted a note on the nightstand. Along with it, a glass of water and a sealed tablet stood by. Reading the tablet, you guaranteed it was aspirin and drank it without any hesitation.

You can't seem to spot your things. Did you get robbed now?

You found a neatly folded shirt on the desk table beside the white laptop. When did that get there? You remembered it wasn't there before going inside the bathroom. But, it definitely meant you should change out of your dress shirt. It definitely reeked alcohol.

Looking presentable, you step out of the room and was greeted by the smell of butter and the slightest tinge of coffee.

Did I land on the right man? You smiled, then you frowned. You shook your head in attempt to dismiss the thought. The fact that you just wake up from a one-night stand is already worse as it is.

You hate your drunken self.

You can't put a name or a face of the man who brought you here.

"You're up," the man stated.

Maybe you don't hate your drunken self after all.

Lo and behold, a very handsome man was prepping the table with breakfast: bacon and eggs with a coffee. Heck, he looked so good with that black turtle neck. It definitely brought out his deep cobalt eyes. His raven hair absolutely made you fall in love. He oh-graciously passed your very high standards for an ideal man.

He spoke, "I made breakfast and I'll bring you to work," he glanced at his wristwatch, "I don't really like leaving you alone to commute."

You sat yourself across him, staring down at the breakfast made just for you. When did you have a heaven-like breakfast like this? It may be simple, but it's nothing like your cup of coffee and a piece of bread.

"Thank you..." What was his name again?

"Giyuu."

"Thank you, Giyuu."

He sipped his coffee. "Your welcome. Your clothes from last night are on the drawer beside the bed. They're washed. As for your dress shirt—" his eyes trailed at you, seeing you in one of his dark blue shirts, "—There's a spare with them. It's yours."

"Are you sure? I mean, I'm just here after what happened and I really don't want to—"

Giyuu quirked an eyebrow, "What happened?" Then, he understood what you meant. "Nothing happened last night. I slept on the couch."

You want the gods to take you right now. Nothing happened last night. Can you just throw yourself on one of the windows? You even bothered a man you don't know! How great can you be, huh?

"Ah~ I wanna die," you muttered.

"Why?" asked he. You're starting to have problems with Giyuu. This man is too oblivious, dense, and a big airhead for his sake. How did he manage to have a job? Does he even have friends? The HR Department must've debated or something to actually hire him.

You shook your head, smiling at him, "Nothing. I feel so ashamed right now." This man might be your senior. Control your thoughts!

Giyuu stood, "You shouldn't be." He glanced at you and smiled. You just realized this man isn't a smiling person. This is the first time he smiled in the whole exchange.

You finished up, not wanting to delay Giyuu anymore than you already had. You were quick in finding the very same clothes you wore last night. They were ironed and fresh, smelling soft lavender. The dress shirt fit quite well for you, where did he get this though? Is it from an ex?

It took all of your will not to pounce at Giyuu with his turtleneck and long brown coat. You were so cheap beside him. Ah, you really want to jump to the nearest window.

Another realization: you're in a penthouse.

WTF! WTF! WTF! You had to take deep breaths to calm your raging nerves and burning face. You refused to make any eye contact with him as soon as the elevator closed. Who is Giyuu to even own a penthouse? Wait, is he one of the heads in the company? Oh shit, you're so dead. The HR generalist might call you later to fire you. Oh dear lord. You ended up staring down on your phone and scrolling through the worried text of your workmates.

Ms. Kanroji:

Let me know if you're home, (Y/N)-chan. Welcome to the company!

Sec. Kochou Shinobu:

You had a lot of drink tonight. Make sure to take some medicine.

You don't have to come early tomorrow.

As if Shinobu's text was the trigger, the pounding in your head was there again. Although it was lessened, it brought you discomfort. You felt Giyuu's gaze on you.

You want ice cream right now. It's too hot inside. Why is the elevator seemed so slow?

"Do you want me to just bring you home instead?" asked Giyuu.

"No, no! It's my fault anyway. It won't hinder my work hopefully."

You heard Giyuu hum.

* * *

You knew the office of the CEO was a glass pane away. You never caught sight of the boss of your boss (being the Assistant Secretary) yesterday. You overheard sometime throughout the party that the cakes were provided by the CEO. It made your heart flutter. No one spent so much money nor effort on you.

"Color me impressed, (Y/N)-chan," chirped Shinobu, opening the glass door into your workplace. She walked in with her most graceful presence and elegant ambiance. She was beautiful as ever. Don't you think that she's growing more pretty every day?

You smiled at her, "I can't simply return the favor of last night by being late."

Shinobu must've noticed the smile didn't quite reach your eyes. She assured, "It's nothing but the pleasure of the company having a new employee."

You started to click away to open emails. After having a quick demo of the job, it's only a matter of time for you to start getting the ropes of the secretary work. Shinobu might only pass the least work on you, yet you appreciated her commentary throughout your first day in work. You were extremely grateful for her efforts.

"Were you able to go home fine?" asked Shinobu. She started to arrange her mountains of paperworks. The CEO must've ordered her to make a report for a client or a summary of a meeting.

You massaged your temple. There goes your headache again. "Yep." You don't really want to dive into details.

"That's good to hear. The heads already like you. It's a good first impression."

"Thank you. Ms. Kanroji might be a little over enthusiastic."

Shinobu giggled at that. The other half of the Production Manager, Mitsuri Kanroji, became your full-time company yesterday. You were just confused why you ended up on some man's penthouse. She must've known Giyuu and trusted you to him? Or her fiancee swept her away? You did hear from Shinobu that she's engaged to Mr. Iguro Obanai.

Focus! You are in your own workplace. You shouldn't beat yourself up over some man who took you home. Nothing even happened! What could be wrong?

"Sir. Tomioka!"

Really?

You glanced up from your computer and you almost felt your soul jumping out of you.

Giyuu stared at Shinobu as she started to give him his schedule today. You want to fuse with the chair right now. If he is Shinobu's boss, then he's the fucking CEO!

"Ah," You groaned, hiding your face from Giyuu. Did you really just end up in the house of the CEO of the Tomioka Corporation? Right, Giyuu never told you his full name.

"Shit," you rested your face on the keyboard. The fatigue from last night was wearing you down. Add the hungover who decided to think now was the right time to bother you with headaches. It's like its mocking you with your clumsiness.

You shouldn't let yourself loose last night. It would be a night that you will regret forever. Anyways, you have emails to read and phone calls to answer! Keep things professional. That's where you excel, right? It's your pride.

With a new-found motivation, you scrolled through your inbox. You were about to reply to one of the emails when Shinobu called out your name, inviting you to join her and Giyuu.

Boy did your heart leap out of your chest. You want to act as if you're having period pains and can't stand up.

Again, this is adult life. Small things like that doesn't work.

Shinobu motioned to Giyuu, "This is Sir. Tomioka Giyuu. He may or may not excel in performing his job as a CEO." Even though her warm smile meant civil, her words proved otherwise.

You paid no mind to her words and introduced yourself, "I'm (L/N) (Y/N). It's a pleasure to meet you, Sir. Tomioka." His last name went past your lips with an odd feeling. You preferred calling him by his first name.

Shinobu's words went flying over Giyuu's head or he might have chosen to ignore it altogether. Giyuu had grown used to the insults over the course of their years together in the company.

"Welcome to the company, Ms. (L/N). It's a pleasure to have you here."

You don't like him calling you with Ms., yet it left a giddy feeling. Why does your name and his voice match so well?

You didn't miss—as much as you want to—the slightest curl of Giyuu's lips. This man—scratch that, your CEO had the nerve to tease you from last night and the flustered mess you were earlier. Great, just great.

Are there any angels to come and tell you where paradise is?

The exchange made Shinobu's smile turn into something mischievous and determined. Did you pick the right company to work for? It looks like this is some weird international company.

* * *

"There, there, (Y/N)-chan," Mitsuri comforted you with pats on the back. "I'm sure things will get better."

You groaned for the nth time this day. The food on your plate was half-eaten as you looked up to meet Mitsuri's rather cheerful gaze. A bit too cheerful for your taste. It made you question if Mitsuri really does sympathize with you.

"I'm not so sure, Senpai. With your boss playing the wingman to the CEO, I'm surprised I haven't resigned."

You felt the air around Mitsuri gloom, "Are you?"

You chuckled, "No. Everyone's so kind and welcoming. I can't possibly resign. I'm not that childish."

Shinobu has been sneaky with her tricks. Passing the coffee-making order to you, instead of her. She would "kindly" ask you to deliver the printed handouts to the CEO. Sometimes, invite you to their lunch when Giyuu felt like it, then she would vanish with the excuse of "I had to take this call." Heck, is someone even calling her? Often than not, she would always make situations where you are left alone with Giyuu.

One thing's for sure: you're not complaining.

Sure, liking your boss may seemed ethically and morally wrong, but as long as both parties have pure intentions, then there's nothing wrong. You're starting to like the young CEO of Tomioka Corporation.

One glance at the watch, you were left shoving down the left of your food down your throat.

You need to finish the report Shinobu had entrusted you to do! She needed—Giyuu needed it before the day ends for tomorrow's proposal.

"E-eh, you're going already, (Y/N)-chan? You just got out of the office."

"Don't worry about me, Ms. Kanroji. It's part of the job."

"(Y/N)-chan!?"

* * *

You were in the middle of proofreading a very important proposal when you looked up.

"Ara~ I didn't know (Y/N)-chan looked so good with glasses," remarked Shinobu. She placed a grande chocolate chip cream frappe from Starbucks.

"Ah, thank you, Ms. Shinobu." You were surprised at the drink, but appreciated the thought. Sec. Shinobu is beautiful and she's even kind. You were so lucky to have her as a boss, just exclude the part where she plays the cupid.

Shinobu peeked at your computer, "Is that the proposal for Tamayo Reinvent Corporations?"

"Yep. I'll send it to you again for final edits."

You can feel Shinobu's gaze piercing your head. You asked, "Is something wrong with the proposal, Ms. Shinobu?"

"Ah, no no!" she waved her hands for emphasis, "You've been working so hard for the company."

"How could I not? It's perfect."

Shinobu grinned at your comment. She had seen how hard you've been working so hard. You looked so amazing being so professional yet approachable at the same time. Everyone in the same floor knows you and goes along with you so well. She could also see how confident you are just by the way you carry yourself around the office. And the way you manage events when there is one in the office. Shinobu couldn't help but grow to rely on you. You're just that reliable and capable.

She's assured. She found the right person to replace her.

"Ne, (Y/N)-chan."

You removed your radiation glasses and set them beside the keyboard. You sipped on the frappe. "Yes?"

"When will confess to Tomioka-san?"

The frappe got stuck on your throat. You didn't expect that question right now.

"W-what do you mean by confess?" you asked through your coughs.

"Heh~" Shinobu went to her workplace. "I'm going to be transferred soon, (Y/N)-chan."

What? You didn't expect that! You're just hired a year ago and barely out of probation and now you're going to get promoted soon.

You exclaimed, "How about the Tamayo Company? You guys are trying to negotiate them for the past couple years. This is your chance, Ms. Shinobu."

Shinobu laughed. It helped you ease your worries. "Don't worry about the TR Corporations. We will persuade them. The problem is: you and Tomioka-san."

"Eh?"

"Tomioka-san and I go back from our college days. I can see he likes you too."

Giyuu likes you? Really? You can't seem to pick that up yourself when he's being so closed off. He had long dropped the teasing of that night. You don't have any clue or the tiniest hint he's fond of you.

"Are you sure about that? 'Cause I don't think so."

"It's because Tomioka-san doesn't have any friends," Shinobu's still insulting the CEO, "He doesn't like to talk, but he does with people he likes."

So? You guys only interacted at work and only talked about work. It doesn't give anything away.

"Anyways! Please take care of him for me."

"Ms. Shinobu, you're not going to die."

"I won't. I'm going overseas."

* * *

The Tamayo Reinvent Company is one heck of a big shot. Tomioka Corporation is also a big shot too. Both are international companies and they are two of the most competent and successful businesses in the world. It's even a miracle you landed the job of Assistant Secretary. Still, even as an assistant, it's a pretty demanding job too.

You have to thank the company you worked for during your college days.

Shinobu beamed, "Congratulations on the promotion, (Y/N)-chan! I'm so proud of you."

You sniffled, "It's because of you. Thank you for everything, Ms. Shinobu."

"Aw, (Y/N)-chan is crying," Mitsuri cooed.

Shinobu continued to grin at you. You deserve the promotion after all. Your peers and your superiors are the witness of your fruitful efforts. It's a fulfilling reward.

Although, it's only the start of the hell for you.

"When's your flight, Shinobu-chan?" inquired Mitsuri. All attention were on Shinobu now.

"The day after tomorrow."

"Is it alright with you? Leaving us behind. I have so much to learn from you, Ms. Shinobu." You watched the water swirl inside your glass (you were so cautious about wasting yourself ever since that).

"Now, now. It's not like I'm going to disappear forever. I'm not your superior now, Sec. (L/N)."

You didn't know how to react to that. Hearing your office name from the boss you worked for a couple of years must've triggered something within.

"AGH! I'M GOING TO MISS YOU, SHINOBU-SAN!" you sobbed.

Shinobu raised her index finger, motioning in the air before pointing at you. She said, "The next I'll hear from you is your in a relationship with Tomioka-san."

"Eh?"

She winked, "And snatch that TR Corp. for me, will you?"

* * *

"Sir. Tomioka, I have sent the final proposal to you."

Giyuu hummed, mentally taking note to read it tomorrow. He watched you shuffle around you own workplace to pack up for the night. As much as he wanted to go back, he couldn't. There's simply too much things to go through. With the TR Corp. in their reach, there wasn't any time to slack off. Giyuu had been waiting for years to make this true.

"Sir?"

"Yes, Sec. (L/N)?"

He looked up. Surprise take over his features at your serious expression.

"Isn't what you're doing supposed to be mine?" You noticed he was making the agenda for the meeting with TR Corp. As an intern for the secretary, you witnessed and handled some of the most complex and demanding works of an executive secretary. You were confident in your own skills. It sucks to see that your boss doesn't trust you yet with important responsibilities.

Is it because this is about Tamayo Reinvent Corporations?

You smiled at him, "Your shift's supposed to end with mine, right, Sir?"

"Is there a problem?"

You sighed. This man is hopeless. "I was wondering why my workload hasn't been that heavy. Anyways, why don't we go out of the building together? You've been overworking yourself lately, Sir. I can do the agendas for the meeting tomorrow first thing in the morning."

Giyuu was aware of your capabilities and your skills in this field. You were born for this, he could tell.

It wasn't a shock you were offended not to be trusted with important works as the Executive Secretary to the CEO.

Giyuu finally sighed, "Okay, then. Thank you for your offer."
