"Communication to a relationship is like oxygen to life. Without it… it dies."
—Tony Gaskins
~~~~~
You screamed into your pillow with all your might. You could feel your heart pounding inside your chest to the point it was deafening in your ears. A giddy feeling settled in and you couldn't seem to wipe off the happy grin on your face.
Who wouldn't be in such a state when Muichirou just accepted your confession?
"KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!" Your pillow would be deaf at this point. RIP pillow.
You buried your face deeper into the fluff, trying to calm your racing heart.
With a relieved smile, you spoke, "Thank the heavens he feels the same."
* * *
At first, you thought Muichirou was unapproachable—thank Yuichirou for this. Yet, when you've come to know Muichirou a little more through paired homework, it made you fall over him deeper.
You're both so young in love at 15, so you expected little problems along the way. Keyword: little.
"I don't even know if we're even dating, Kochou-senpai," you grumbled.
"Now, now," Shinobu patted your back for comfort, "Tokitou-kun must be new to relationship, (Y/N)-chan."
The problem here is; Muichirou doesn't seem to be in a relationship at all! Of course, you expected this, but you never predicted it to be this kind of worse. He still treats you the same as before, like nothing even changed. No holding hands unless you initiate it. No kisses—you don't think if you can even take a peck—or any form of affection. He doesn't even walk you home! Does Muichirou even know how to be in a relationship? Heck, does he even likes you back? Maybe he got swayed by the flow and went along with it. Or, you were so pitiful that he had no choice but to accept your confession. Or maybe he's just using you to get closer to—
"When it comes to love, you need to have a good communication," Shinobu spoke.
"Communication?"
"Yep! A good communication leads to a fruitful understanding, thus a fulfilling relationship," Shinobu motioned her pencil to further emphasize her point, "Tokitou-kun won't know nor understand your feelings if you just keep your problems to yourself."
It was as if the heavens just opened behind Shinobu. She was right! Shinobu was right in every way. Muichirou should know your problems so he could do something about it. That's what couples for.
"Y-you're so amazing, Kochou-senpai! Thanks for the advice!"
"Don't sweat it." Shinobu tapped the end of her mechanical pencil on your unfinished math equation, "You can thank me by acing your quiz tomorrow."
You picked up your pencil and started to solve for x and y.
Yuichirou was glaring at his brother, big time. He was aware of the status of his younger twin's relationship. It was starting to irritate him to no end. Is Muichirou even trying to be a good person to you? Even though she is an average person, she deserves to be treated nice and wonderful, not some just friend who always comes by lunch to spend time. Heck, does Muichirou even takes the initiative here?
Yuichirou reared his fist to beat the living out of Muichirou.
He pointed his chopsticks at Muichirou and asked, "Are you and (Y/N)-san even dating?"
"We are...?" Muichirou's tone quirked up. It's obvious they're dating and he let Yuichirou to be the first one to know about it.
Yuichirou narrowed his eyes. He stated, "You two don't seem like dating at all."
"But, we do go out sometimes," Muichirou munched on his tamagoyaki.
"And, how often is that?"
"Muichirou-san!"
The two Tokitou's looked up in unison. They saw their classmate, Kichiro, waving at them, beside him was you, shyly peeking from the classroom's door.
Muichirou moved to approach you. He heard you thanking Kichiro and telling him something about meeting him later.
Yuichirou felt a rather unsetting feeling in his chest as he watched Muichirou and you walked away from the classroom.
By the end of lunch break, Muichirou emerged inside the classroom with a tense and bothered expression on his face.
* * *
Muichirou is not one for words. Even though people say he's much more ambient than his brother, he isn't much of a talker than him. It was serving as an obstacle.
He likes you. Really.
He just need enough confidence to actually show it and he can't seem to find that.
Does he really make you that lonely to the point you want to break up? Isn't taking you outside and sometimes spending lunch enough?
"For example, the comet NEOWISE can only be seen ev—"
Muichirou stuck his gaze on the knocking of the door. He watched intently as you opened the door with a polite smile on your face.
"Pardon me for interrupting your class, sensei. May I excuse Furuta Kichiro-kun?"
What the heck? Muichirou was awestruck. Just how important is Kichiro to the point you had to interrupt their class just to talk to him? What do you need from him? Who the hell is he?
Yuichirou nudged Muichirou. "Your eyes are killing him."
Muichirou clicked his tongue. He isn't liking this at all.
* * *
Muichirou is lonely :
He's starting to regret his actions. If he can turn back in time, he'll definitely make the effort to spend more bonding time with you, even going as far to having sleepovers at your place. He would arrange study dates so he could help with math to save yourself from Shinazugawa-sensei's antics.
He hasn't seen ever since that one moment in class. He hasn't seen Kichiro either. What the heck were you two doing? It's been a week since then.
Yuichirou had an amused smirk on his face. It's not every day you'll see Muichirou in the slumps.
With a rolled school newspaper, he smack Muichirou's head.
"Nii-chan!" Muichirou barked, raising his head from his desk.
"Baka. Have you realize your mistakes?"
Muichirou mumbled, "I do."
Yuichirou unrolled the newspaper and settled it on the desk behind him. The classroom was quieter than usual. It was lunch. Everyone must be flooding the cafeteria.
Yuichirou sighed, "When you see her, tell her what you feel." He raised a finger, "Or I'll be the one who will sweep her off her feet."
Muichirou's face contorted in disgust. "I don't and can't see (Y/N) with you, Nii-chan. You two are incompatible."
"What?!" Yuichirou crossed his arms, "Beat me in Shoji first before you spout lies."
"I'm telling the truth, Nii-chan."
"Oka-san didn't teach you to lie, Muichirou."
"Same goes for you. You should be a perfect example. Get yourself a girlfriend not stealing mine."
"You two broke up right? I can treat her better."
Kichiro was waltzing inside the classroom. It was a breath of fresh air compared to the gym where the tournament just held. Behind him, you were trailing with a small smile.
He noticed the two bickering again. "They remain the same, huh."
You giggled, "Right. Congratulations, Kichiro-kun."
"Yeah, thanks."
"MUICHIROU-KUN!"
Kichiro had to cover his ears.
From behind, you wrapped your arms around Muichirou's shoulders grinning down at him. Your sudden presence seemed to make the bicker stop.
"(Y-Y/N)-chan?" Muichirou stuttered. He mentally scolded himself. Yuichirou will definitely use this against him later.
"Yep! I missed you!"
Now, Muichirou was confused. You wanted to break up, but now you're here... hugging him. He's not complaining.
"Have you eaten lunch?"
"W-where did you go, (Y/N)-chan?" Muichirou asked. "I was lonely..." he whispered, but you heard it very clear.
Your heart was practically leaping out of your chest. You couldn't keep a grin from showing on your face.
"I was in a camp! Though, it was the tournament right after. I did win. I never expected that!"
"Wow, congrats," Yuichirou praised.
"Thanks~" You turned to Muichirou, So, have you eaten lunch yet?"
"Ah, uhm. No."
You pulled Muichirou up to stand. He yelped. "Let's go to the cafeteria!"
"Yeah."
His hands intertwined yours as you two sauntered outside. Muichirou didn't miss the smug look on his twin's face. He'll be in torture later in club.
"(Y/N)," Muichirou whispered.
"Yeah?"
He squeezed your hand, "Wait for me after school later, okay? I'll... walk you home."
You beamed, "Sure."
Muichirou felt his cheeks burning. He had to look away and hoped his bangs covered his blushing face.
Holding your hands was a great feeling that Muichirou won't forget.
"(Y/N)."
He wanted to beat himself up. He just misunderstood what you said. So embarrassing. He was degrading himself for the past week for nothing.
Muichirou looked up and met your inquiring gaze, "I like you. Very much."
You pecked his reddened cheek, "Me too."
Words I Left Unsaid
"Like a treasure map in a bottle, We were slowly drifting apart, Mother Nature sailing our purpose out to sea, The more I got to know you, I realised how much of a hoax your devotion was, Almost as fake as the smile I paint across my shattered face."This collection of poetry releases trauma in the form of expression - mainly the words I could never build up the courage to say. Most of these poems present conflict of the mind and allude to mental health struggles, which may be relatable to a certain community of people.Ranks -#3 in poem#3 in poembook#8 in poetry collection #7 in sadpoems#6 in poemcollection #7 in wisdom #15 in poetic
