《Eddie Kaspbrak - Don't let go (sequel to YSM)》Part 13

We arrived at the hospital and straight away they took him in for surgery, which I had to wait outside for
I started to pace the room, biting my nails anxiously
"Y/n?' I turned around to see Barbara there, she was the one who got me into nursing when I still lived here
"Oh wow, hey." I smiled
"What are you doing back in town?" She asked
"Just visiting friends- is he going to be okay?" I asked
She put her hand on my shoulder
"Edward Kaspbrak..." She said reading his file "Wow I remember you 2 running around in here all the time." She laughed "What happened?"
"H-he fell on some sharp spike." I said
She nodded "If he's anything like he was when he was young he's a fighter."
I nodded
"So did he finally propose?" she asked
I frowned "Sorry?"
"Well the last time I saw him, he told me he was going to find you and propose to you. This was like 20 years ago now, but he was determined to find you." She said
My heart dropped, he didn't give up on me at all
"No he didn't..." I mumbled
"Well for a guy to want to still propose to someone he hasn't seen for 5 years then he must really love you. Besides here you are, both brought together again." She said
"Y/n!" I saw Bill run over "Any news?" he asked
"He's just in surgery." Barbara said
He nodded and looked at me "Are you okay?"
I nodded "D-did you know he was going to propose to me? 20 years ago."
He frowned "No I didn't."
I sighed "I-if I stayed..."
"Hey its okay. You're here now. We all are."
I nodded "Okay."
"I'll leave you to it." Barbara said and left us both in the waiting room
A while later –
I sighed "What the hell is happening in there?" I asked, pacing around

"Hey I'm sure it's okay, it's a good sign they haven't come out yet."
"How? Bill how is that a good sign? What if something has gone wrong? What if hes nt okay? What if-" I got cut off when a doctor came out
"Urm you here for Edward Kaspbrak?"
"Yes! Is he okay?" I asked and rushed over
He nodded "He's stable, but he's lost a lot of blood. We managed to patch up the wound, but I'm afraid his body went through so much he's gone into a coma. We can't say how long it will be until he's awake." He asked
"But he will at some point right? In a few days?" I asked
The doctor looked at me then Bill
"Right?"
"Erm y/n, I think w-what hes saying i-is... H-he may never wake up."
My heart dropped
"I'm sorry but you have it wrong, you see that guy in there he has to wake up. He just has to! He owes it to me. he can't be that god damn selfish ad leave me like this!"
"Hey calm down-"
"No Bill! No! he can't leave me! Not again. Tell them Bill! Tell them they're wrong!" I said
"I'm sorry but I'm going to have to ask you to calm down or you will have to leave."
"Calm down? Im sorry but if you did your job-"
Bill stopped me and took a step closer to the doctor
"No no theres no need for that. S-shes just going through it at the moment." Bill said
The doctor nodded "You can see him when you are ready."
I nodded and me and Bill walked in to see Eddie lay there. He wasn't my usual Eddie, he looked ill. So pale. He had all these wires coming out of him and tube in his mouth
I sighed and rushed over
"I'll give you a minute." Bill said
I gave him a grateful look ad grabbed eddies hand as he left the room leaving just me and Eddie

"I-I'm sorry." I said "I shouldn't have let you out there. I should've made a bigger sign that he was behind you. I'm so sorry Eddie." I squeezed his hand and gave it a kiss "I've always wanted to protect you, even when we were kids. I just wanted to keep you safe, you're my Eds. You have always been my eds. I didn't know you were going to propose to me. I wish you found me Eddie, I wish you found me and asked me that question. I know you're married but I don't care Eddie, I shouldn't have left and I've lived to regret that ever since. I missed your smile every day, your goofy jokes and even the constant smell of your hand sanitizer" I let out a little laugh, the tears streaming down my face "I miss all the little things we had. The memories we made. I-I just wish things turned out different. the doctors tell me you might not pull through, I think they're crazy. I-I'm a nurse and I know. You're a fighter, my fighter and I know you won't give up. You won't let him win. We won Eddie, we finally defeated him, so you need to pull through for me now. Please." I cried "Please Eds I can't be left in a world where there isn't a you. This is all my fault"
"Who are you?" I turned around to see a blond woman stood there
"S-sorry, you are?" I asked
"That man's wife. And I would like to know why your all over him." She said looking me up and down
I stood up "Sorry I'm a friend of h-"
"I don't care. You did this to my Eddie. I mean look at you." She said looking me up and down and instantly it brought me back to how his mum used to treat me too. She always looked at me like I was nothing to her. Like I was never worthy of her son that she loved to smother so much
"Now please leave."
"But-
"Now." She said
I sighed and looked back to Eddie.
"Sorry, be back later." I mumbled
I walked out the room leaving Eddie with his wife. Even though I should be the one in there.
I noticed bill still sat outside waiting
"Hey." I mumbled
He stood up and looked at me "Im sorry I didn't know she was here, how are you?"
I shrugged "I'm glad he's okay. He's with his wife now so I guess I have no reason to be here any longer."
He sighed and pulled me into a hug
'Y/n... he really does love you. If pennywise wasn't real, then I know you two would've worked."
I nodded into his chest trying not to cry
'I'm sorry Bill. For the way I spoke to you earlier. I was just so worried and I just wanted him to be okay. I'm sorry..."
He smiled "It's fine. I know how it feels. A-actually can I talk to you about something?" he asked
I nodded "Sure."
"I'm going to break up with my wife."
"What? Why?"
He shrugged "I guess I always wanted to attach myself to someone, but she's not very supportive of my work and I need to focus on that. And the people around me you know? Like you guys and Eddie, I feel like she isn't the one for me." he said
I nodded "Never did like her."
He laughed "Why didn't you say?"
"I guess I didn't want to hurt your feelings but now you agree, yeah she's a total bitch." i said and lightly nudged him
He smiled "Come on we better get going."
I nodded and we both walked back to the car
"Can we just grab some of his things? I don't want him to wake up to no fresh clothes you know what he's like." I said
Bill nodded "I think the guys are coming back later anyways so we can all come here together."
"Where are they?" I asked
"I think they said something about honoring Eddies memory or something."
I nodded and stayed silent for the rest of the journey
