"Don't you think that's enough?" I heard them say. Genevieve, Amara, and Odette, they were all pushing my limits to fight my hardest.
I went up against three brutal warriors. Broken bones, bleeding wounds, burning pain, everything I had to injure until I win this clash.
"Odette, my daughter looks like she can't take it anymore," my mother pleaded. All their screams turned to whispers, their pleads turned to silent mockery.
"Focus, Felicity. See before the enemy. Move with your mind," Genevieve whispered. At this moment, all I could hear is my heart beating, my lungs breathing, and my mouth gasping for air.
If I could show everyone that I am capable of defeating three of their greatest fighters, they may stop thinking of how weak I am as a queen.
Everything seemed to be in slow motion, cheers, screams, yells, were like silent pleads. Some were telling my opponents to finish me while some motivated me to fight harder.
"I'm sorry, Queen Felicity," the man mouthed to me while positioning himself, ready to lunge at me. The other two were waiting in anticipation of how I'll go down but,
I won't.
As soon as the man took his first stomp, I side-stepped and quickly yet surely, I landed one kick on the other man's torso. Like what I have learned, I didn't kick his chest nor his stomach, I kicked where he could end up having broken ribs.
Then, he fell, spitting blood all over the floor. The last two standing teamed up against me, they took both my right and left side but too bad for them, I can move quicker and end them at the same time.
Seeing that I missed his attack, the man again, readied himself to do a sidekick. How did I know? His position changed, from both of his feet on the same lunge, he stepped forward with what I have noticed, his non-dominant foot.
When he aimed for the kick, I dodged and went below his foot. He ended up kicking my other opponent and as he brought his face to caress the hit, I punched him, hard on his groin.
Hearing his curses, I knew that I was left with one last opponent, the biggest sorcerer. We eyed each other, trying to guess who's moving first but I was wrong.

The man wasn't trying to land another kick or punch, he was trying to do magic. Since the fight has begun, I've been wondering when they will use magic against me but they didn't.
I was given a fair fight, a chance to win. They took it easy on me but now, I'll all prove them wrong. Wars, battles, and fights, they are all not equal. This is not about being fair, it's about winning against the enemy.
First, I had to know what he was capable of doing. His hands were like holding an invisible ball that caused the air to cool between the two of us. Then, his eyes weren't focused on me but on feet.
My mind dug memories, the times when I've been taught by the three sorceresses about magic. It's not easy to know one's sorcery but with an eyeful observation, you might be just lucky to know.
Pain. That's his enchantment. Through his own mind, he can deliver pain and I know exactly where he'll give it to me.
I only had a few seconds to have my victory. The moment his eyes blinked, I kicked his chest, where his heart should be. The pain that spread through my lower limbs was almost unbearable, it caused me to drop.
But when I did, I fell with him. Unlike me, his eyes were shut close. I couldn't believe it, it was like a feeling of joy and greatness. After a week of suffering and training, I did it.
I won the fight.
"If we don't move now, we can't get her, Dimitrius." We've been here with my warriors since her fight started. I could not take my eyes off of her, Felicity, my queen, she fought with all her might and strength, a true fighter.
The moment she got hit, kicked and punched, I wanted to rip the man's heart out but I did not interfere instead, I watched her get back up.
Felicity could rule my kingdom by her own and still thrive. Her fighting stance needed improvement but her state of mind did not. Even with three enemies, she did not give up.
Her blood poured from her wounds yet she did not shed a single tear. She was an angel that fell but still shone with her light. A week of misery without her quickly vanished when I saw with my own eyes, my beloved's victory.

"I'll go in. There's no need for a fight, brother. Felicity will come back with me," Katherine insisted. I could not risk my sister's life but she would do everything to repay Felicity's kindness over the years.
"If you don't return in a span of ten minutes, we'll attack, Katherine," Hayden, my second in command said. For me, that time was still long but before I could protest Katherine flee like lightning.
But I wouldn't let her alone without any protection. I followed her, masking my scent with the herb that couldn't be smelled by any witch.
I stayed back, near the window of Felicity's cottage so that I could hear their conversation and still be quick enough to jump in if anything happened.
"Felicity?" My sister called out and I heard the knob of her door quietly opening. After a few moments, I heard my mate's heartbeat pounding so fast.
"You found me," she whispered. "I thought you never searched for me," she said and I could smell her emotion of sadness and joy? I wasn't sure.
"The day you were gone, no one stopped until we found the witches' territory, Felicity. We want you back, come with me," Katherine pleaded.
"But my family's here and the sorceresses will not stop until they find me again," she protested. "They might even find you here, Katherine, you should go before my brother -"
Then, she stopped talking. Two heartbeats, I could hear it. Jonathan, the cruelest Lowell was there, with my sister. At this time, I don't know whether I should barge in and save my sister from the pain before it all comes back to her.
"I should go," Katherine whispered to Felicity but the bastard grabbed her arm, not letting her go. "Let go of her or I will come with them and never see you again, brother." Felicity's voice at her last word was filled with resentment.
He didn't let go and that made my blood boil even more. "I know that Dimitrius is here, too," she whispered only letting Katherine and I hear her but not Jonathan.
"Your family is here, sister," he mocked but I listened to Felicity's whispers, ones that Jonathan could not catch. "You gave me no choice, Jonathan Lowell," Felicity spat and he fell into unconsciousness.
Felicity saved Katherine once more. I didn't know where the bottle of sleeping potion got into her hands but she used it against Jonathan. There he was, down like the loser he really is.
I could not wait anymore. I wanted and I needed to see Felicity. Her blood, I am in desperate need of her blood. Lasting seven days without my mate's addicting blood was torture enough. So I sped to the door of her room and opened it.
"Dimitrius," she whispered and for the first time, she ran to me and wrapped her arms around my body. It felt like a joyful bliss, in that moment, she was in my arms. It was then interrupted when she pulled out, "I'm sorry, I just -"
Why would I let her apologize for something that wasn't any mistake? I pulled her closer when she stepped back and held her in a tight embrace.
"I missed you too, my queen."

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! For writing a story during the month of November, you have unlocked the Royal Road Writathon Participant path!
