《Cupid's Arrow ✔》Chapter 25

"W-what?" I stuttered. I looked at Liam and my face paled. Liam looked at me and narrowed his eyes. He took the phone from my hand, answering himself.
"Hello?" He called through my phone. When he got the reply, his face turned red in anger. He covers the speaking area and looks at Chase. "Chase? Take Chloe to her room," he ordered.
Chase looked baffled, but took my hand and led me towards my room. I looked back at Liam, who was glaring at the table in front of him.
Chase brought me to my room and closed the door behind him I sat on my bed, thinking. Can life get any worse? Why call now? What does he want now?
"Chloe?" Chase called.
"Yes?" I asked, clearing my head.
"Who's on the phone? Who called you?" He asked, curiously.
I sighed and shook my head. "You don't want to know."
"I do. Tell me, who is it?"
"He's the person who helped mom get me," I said. Wait...never mind.
"I don't understand," he said, scratching the back of his head.
"He's my father," I said, nonchalantly.
"What?" He said, confused.
"John is not my real dad. My real father left me long back." I shrugged as if I don't care. But in reality, it hurts.
Chase gasped at what I said. "What? But I thought..." He trailed.
"It's a story for later," I said. I can't handle everything together. Have mercy on me, God.
"Okay," he replied. I know he's confused, but I can't help it. It's not the right time.
We waited for some time for Liam to come up. No one uttered a word. We were lost in our own thoughts that we didn't hear the door open.
"Hey," Liam softly called. I looked at him and blinked. He sighed and came near me. "Don't worry. I warned him not to contact you."
"Will he listen?" I asked, doubtfully.
"I don't think so," he muttered. He rubbed his forehead and glanced at Chase. "Thanks, man. You truly helped us a lot." He did a man shake with him. Chase smiled back.
"I'll talk to you later, Chloe." I nodded and he left.
"You know, it's only my second day and all the drama have already begun," Liam suddenly said. If you think about it....
"You were suppose to come today and not yesterday? Why are you early, not that I am not happy, but still?" I asked, curiously.
He smirked at me. "I know that man. I knew he would call you because he has been trying to call me since the letter."
"That's why you came early." I said more to myself. Now I'm understand everything. "Does that mean he'll try to meet us in person?"
"Yeah he probably is going to. I'm sure about that," he said, looking at me. "It's going to be soon."
I bit my lips. I don't want to talk to him. Liam must have seen my uneasy look. "Don't worry. I won't let him near you," he assured me.
Little did I knew, that it's just the beginning of my problems. There's a storm to come.
**
The next day was quite eventful. Today Chase decided that I should ride school with him. And to my surprise, Liam didn't object him.
"So? How was your night?" He began.
I looked at him and blinked. "Really?"

"What do you expect me to say?" He exclaimed.
"You're hopeless," I scoffed at him.
"Fine then," he said and looked at me for a split second. "Let's talk about something else."
"Like what?"
"Like," he hummed and then his eyes lit up in amusement. "Tell me, how was the kiss? We didn't talk much about it?"
Kiss. I didn't forget it. It was fresh in my mind. I instantly blushed. I could feel my face turn a bright shade of red. "Uh..."
"I think we should do it more often. What do you think? I've been dying to do it again. I mean, those soft pink lips and you almost taste like strawb-" he teased.
"Shut up, Chase." I mumbled and covered my face with my hand. I heard him laugh. He is so infuriating. "You're annoying."
"No. You're just cute," he said and laughed.
"Chase, if you don't shut up I'll call Aoron, I swear." I threatened him.
He sobered up quickly. I glanced at me. "Don't you dare."
"Try me," I smirked.
"Fine. I'll shut up," he said. I gave him an evil laugh. He looked at me and smiled, softly. "You know, I'm glad that we became friends. I'm glad I met you."
"Me too." I smiled at him, genuinely.
We reached school in no time. "I'll see in you in lunch." I nodded and went to my first period, math. I met Aoron and faintly laughed. I swear, Chase expression was hilarious.
I had quite fun in math and all my other classes. The class with Ryan was even better. During the class, the teacher looked like he might just start crying. Ryan didn't let the teacher teach. He made sounds and asked stupid questions. The teacher cried in frustration while the whole class burst out laughing.
Lunch came soon and we all were seated together, having fun. "Chloe? You didn't tell us about that kiss?" Leah questioned.
I choked on my food. I coughed while Chase patted my back, smirking. I glared at him. This is so his fault. "Uh.."
"Come on. You have to tell us," Ryan whined.
Chase sighed, "I guess I should tell them." What? He's kidding, right? I looked at him, wide eyes, shaking my head, vigorously.
"You know who kissed her?" Alec asked.
"Yes." Chase said at the same time I said, "No." We looked at each other.
"Who?" Ashley pepped in while Laura nodded her head, looking expectedly at Chase.
"Me." He simply said. I banged my head on the table.
"What!?" They all shouted. There was silence in the cafeteria. Pin drop silence.
"Carry on with your work, people," Ashley broke the silence by yelling at them.
"Chase kissed you?" Ashley said.
"You kissed her?" Ryan asked.
"Did you kiss back?" Laura asked.
"Don't tell me you kissed my cousin?" Leah groaned.
"Of course, she kissed him back." Alec said.
"Was he a good kisser?" Jason asked. We all gasped at him. Not only did he speak, but asked such a stupid, stupid question.
"Do you want to kiss Chase as well, Jason," Ryan eyed him. Before Jason could say anything, Ryan turned to Ashley. "I think you have a gay boyfriend."
"That's not what I meant," Jason defends himself.
"Sure." Ryan, Alec and Chase replied in unison.
"I think he's still shock from Liam's encounter." Laura snorted.

"I'm not."
"Are too."
"I'm not."
"Are too."
"Stop it, both of you. That's not what we are discussing now. Talk about Chloe kissing Chase." Alec stopped them.
"It's okay, baby. I know you're straight," Ashley said and rubbed his cheek. Jason smiled at her and pecked her lips. All of us groaned. Ashley scowled at us.
"So? Want to tell us anything?" Ryan asked.
"No." We both answered in unison.
"What? Tell us," Laura groaned.
"Leave them, guys. I don't want to think about my cousin shoving his tongue down my best friend's throat," Leah gagged. I blushed furious red and banged my head on the desk. Chase laughed and put his one hand on place where I was banging, so I don't hurt myself and other hand on my waist.
"You guys are cute together," Ashley cooed.
"When are you going to ask her out?" Ryan asked.
"Soon," Chase said and tightened his arms around my waist. I froze. Did he just say he'll ask me? My heart started beating fast and my hand became sweaty. I clumsily wiped them on my pants. My face was still on Chase's hand that was supporting me from not getting hurt.
"Then we'll go on double date," Ashley said, excitedly. I groaned again. Everyone around me just laughed.
The day came to an end. Everything was going perfectly fine until this man had to ruin it.
"Chloe?" He called from behind me. I turned around and froze. My smile deflated on seeing who called me.
Dad?
"Chloe? My girl, how are you?" He asked, smiling. I didn't utter a word. I just stared at him. I didn't even blink, once. "Chloe?" He took a step closer, but before he could do or say anything, a person came in between us.
Liam.
"What the hell are you doing here?" He hissed at him. That man who was standing in front of me was none other than Jeremy, my real father.
"Hello to you too, Liam. It's nice to see you," he formally smiles at him. I stared from behind Liam. He was wearing a suit and a tie. A person like him coming to a school, gained a lot of attention.
"Wish I could say the same thing," Liam coldly said.
"Liam, I know you're angry, but forgive me please. I want to make it up to you and Chloe. She's my-"
"Don't even complete that sentence," Liam snarled at him. "I don't want you anywhere near my sister. Get that straight in your head."
"Liam, please," Jeremy pleaded. He's not my father. My father is John. No one will take that privilege from me.
"Go away. No wait, I'll go and take her with me," Liam said, firmly. He took my hand and dragged me towards his car. I didn't turn back to look at his face. Liam opened the passenger seat and pulled me in. He took the driving seat and drove off. I sat there, unfazed.
I looked at Liam and saw his lips were moving, but I couldn't hear a word he was saying.
I never wanted a daughter. A girl. I'm never going to accept her. She's a bad luck. How do you expect me to love her? I wanted to give her for adoption from the time she was born, but because of Liam I couldn't. These words were roaming in my head. These were the word my father, Jeremy had said, when he left that night.
"-can't believe it."
"What did he say?" Dad asked.
I looked up from the ground and saw mom sitting next me on the couch. John, my step-dad and Liam were pacing in the living room.
"I told him not to contact her or me, but he won't listen," Liam spat, angrily. I didn't hear what Mom replied.
My head started hurting. My vision started to blur and my heart started to race. I was having difficulty in breathing. I tried to breathe slowly, but no use. Tears were rolling down my face and my hands shivered. "L-Liam."
I looked at him, but my vision was blurring. Black spots invaded my vision and my eyes felt heavy. My breathing slowed down. The next thing I know, I was plunged in darkness.
**
"L-Liam," I heard Chloe calling me. I turned around and looked at her. When my eyes settled on her, I came to know what's wrong. Panic attack.
"Chloe," I shouted and ran towards her. She fell back on the couch, but I caught her before that. I shook her and gently clapped her face, but no response.
"What happened? Chloe?" Mom sobbed. No, I'm not letting anything happen to my sister.
I looked at Dad. "We have to take her to the hospital. I have a feeling that it's not a simple attack this time."
He nodded and rushed outside. I picked Chloe in my arms and ran towards the car. I got in the back seat with Chloe in my arms while Mom got in front. We quickly drove to the hospital and checked her in. The doctor told us to wait outside her room while he checks on her. One hour passed and there was no news. I was getting worried sick.
I'm going to kill that person. How dare he hurt my sister. I clenched my jaws and fisted my hand. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"She's going be alright. She's a fighter. I'm glad to have a daughter like her." Even though he might not be our real dad, he loves us like his own. He had this proud and admiration glint in his eyes when he see's Chloe, I feel happy. She's happy.
I smiled and hugged him. "I know."
"She'll be alright." He assured me. I saw Mom smiling at us with tears in her eyes.
"I think Mom needs you more than me," I said. He nodded and went towards her.
I felt something vibrate in my pocket. I removed and saw Chloe's phone ringing. I checked the caller ID and it was Chase.
"Hello?"
"Chloe?" He answered.
"No. It's Liam."
"Where's Chloe?" He asked. You're talking about my sister, I wanted to tell him. His tone was firm as he only wanted to talk to Chloe.
I sighed. "She's in the hospital."
"Hospital? What for? Is she alright? Tell me which hospital. I'm on my way," he asked, frantically. You could hear panic in his voice. Damn, this boy really likes Chloe.
I gave him the address because he won't stop talking unless I tell him where she is and how she is. He said he'll be here in five minutes. I ended the call and waited for the doctor to come out.
I hope you are fine, Chloe. I love so very much.
