《Cupid's Arrow ✔》Chapter 2

One thing you should know about me is that you never ever wake me up on a Saturday morning. One reason is that, well it's Saturday, a weekend, the only time I get to sleep, well Sunday too, but you get my point.
So here I am sleeping in my comfortable, soft bed but the only problem is that this bed is moving, like really moving up and down. How can a bed move? Am I dreaming?
No, my mind said to me.
Then what is with the bed? And I did the next thing that I shouldn't have done; I started kicking here and there.
Thud.
A loud groan was heard from beside my bed and then...
"Chloe! What the hell!?" Ashley shouted. Next thing I know, she jumped on top of me. Girl, she must look skinny and all, but she's heavy.
"Ash, get the hell away from me. Get up, you're crushing me." I shouted.
"Nope," she simply replied.
"Why not? Girl, you're fat. You don't look, but you are," I said to her.
"I am not fat. You are like an elephant or uh, or like a goat, yeah a goat," she said, not fully sure about what she wanted to tell.
"Really a goat, couldn't come up with something better?" I asked, smirking. "God! How come I'm friends with you? I pity me sometime." I mumbled to myself.
"I heard you."
"God, will you get up already," I said with a huff. Its early morning and her craziness have already started. How am I going to survive? Anyway, what time is it?
"Fine," she said, getting up. I reached for my clock and when I saw the time, I shouted at the top of my lungs,
"What the chocolate fudge?" Yeah I don't like to swear a lot. I'm a nerd and nerds usually don't swear. Stereotype people! "Why did you wake me up so early, Ash?"
"You see." She looked anywhere, but at me. "I was bored and didn't want to sleep, so I thought why not wake you up so we can do something productive?" She laughed to herself, a nervous laugh. I really love to sleep. One should know two things about me, I sleep a lot and don't like when somebody wakes me, and second is that I love food. Food is life.
Thinking about food made my stomach growl loudly and Ash started laughing.
"What? It's not my fault I'm hungry." I got up from my bed and went to the bathroom for my morning routine. As I close the door, I heard Ashley say to meet her at breakfast table. First thing I looked when I closed the bathroom door was my hair; it was like a birds nest.

Geez! I need a hair cut.
After brushing my teeth, taking an extra long bath, I went to my walk in closet and wore my usual, comfortable white t-shirt with a jacket over it and a black skinny jean.
I came downstairs to see Mom in the kitchen cooking food while Dad and Ashley talking like they haven't seen each other in years and laughing like donkeys. Can anyone tell that she's the queen bee and the most wanted girl in my school? No. I don't think so.
I rolled my eyes at them and wished my parents good morning and made a face at Ash. After eating my breakfast and laughing at my Dad's poor attempt in cracking jokes, Ashley and I went to our friend's house.
We have a big group. From big I mean, five girls including me and Ashley. They are Leah Mason, Beth Stone and Laura Jackson. We all are inseparable. All of us are partners in crime. If any one of us makes any mistake or fights or gets in trouble, we all take the blame and responsibility. That's what friends are for.
Coming back to the topic, Ashley and I were going to Beth's summer house to do what? God only knows. Apparently, they have it all planned and from they, I mean, Ashley and Beth.
By the time we reach Beth's house, Ashley was already jumping up and down like a three years old girl. Leah opened the door and gave both of us a hug.
"Hey, Chica." She greeted. We said our 'hi' and went to see Beth and Laura playing Xbox.
"Yes, take that in your ass," Laura shouted and I covered my ears.
"This is not fair. You cheated," I heard Beth cry.
"Uh-huh," Laura dismissed her. It's not the first time any one of them has lost against her. She is way too good in that game. All she does is play games in her room. No doubt, she's a pro in this.
"Hey guys, done with your stupidity," Ashley said, rolling her eyes. All I did was snort at her comment. She hates video games. Apparently, one time she broke her nail while playing, so she doesn't like to play any sort of video games.
"What are we doing today?" I asked, changing the topic.
Both Ashley and Beth giggled. Leah, Laura and I gave them a look that shouts 'what?'.
"We are going to the mall," Ashley yelled.
"What!?" Laura and I said at the same time. Leah just rolled her eyes, already knowing what's going to happened. She walked over to the couch and placed herself down, making herself comfortable.
"No way am I going to the mall!" Laura denied.

"You are and so are you Chloe, so don't even try to say no and don't give me that look either." Ashley said, just as I was about to open my month to protest. Damn, she knows me too well. "Anyway, Laura, I heard there is a new game in store. So if you don't what to come-"
"No, I'm coming. I'm coming. Let's go," Laura said, jumping up. She got her stupid game.
Traitor.
Now Ashley looks at me and smirks. Great, just great. A trip to mall. Can life get any better?
But I have plan... Just an excuse and I'm out of the hell hole.
**
After half an hour, we were at the mall. All of them laughing and planning what they want to buy and here I am, coming up with an excuse on how to get out of here.
Think think.
I'm smart, not to brag but I am so why can't I come up with an excuse? Urgh! Can my brains work any slower!
"-loe, Chloe. Earth to Chloe, are you even listening?" Leah asks, looking at me with a weird expression.
"Huh? What?" I said, looking at her in confusion.
"We were asking where to go first, dress shopping or shoes?" I let out a groan.
"Can we go home?" I asked, irritated.
"Come on, Chloe. Please. I only have one more day. I'm leaving soon!" Beth gave me a puppy dog face. Beth doesn't live here. She shifted some place else, not too far away from here. She comes to visit us as she owns a house here. We call it 'Beth's summer house'.
No, don't fall for it.
"Fine." I agreed. Here goes my not to fall for the puppy dog face. I have a feeling that today is going to be the worst day. Firstly, my morning started with people jumping on me and secondly, going to the mall. Just freaking great!
We first went for dress shopping. They all took a bunch of clothes and went into the changing room. Meanwhile, Laura and I were talking about what Jeff did and how to sneak revenge.
Jeff Jefferson was Valleywood High School's biggest jerk. His parents are rich, like literally rich. He gets what he wants. Though he's rich, he's just a manwhore. And I hate him. I see him with a new girl every day. I kind of expected that, but I still don't understand how someone like him can get girls to fall at his feet and worship the land he walks on. I mean, come on he's not a god and doesn't even look that good. Sometimes I want to shout at them to control their hormones, but I can't... I don't like attention. I leave attention for Ashley, she loves it. Having a girlfriend means nothing to Jeff. He cheats on them and sweet talks them into believing that he didn't do anything. Pathetic, if you ask me.
Ashley Monte, her parents are rich but because they work constantly, they don't spend time with her, so when she gets attention at school, she loves it.
While they change, I go browse the store to see if I like any dress, but none of them caught my attention. When the changing room's door opens, I turn around to see Ashley wearing a red dress that comes to her mid thigh and is tight against her chest. My eyes widen and my jaws drop to the ground.
"Woah!" That's all I could say. She looks so beautiful that if I were a guy I would have fallen on my knees. She looks hot with her blonde hair and that dress. It's just made for her.
"Is it good?" she asks, nervously.
"Hell, yeah! You are so taking this." Laura says, mirroring my expression.
"What do you say Chloe, should I?"
"Yes," I said, honestly.
She smiles so wide that I think it might break from her face. She goes and tries some more and then we are finally out of the shop.
"Can we go to the food court? I'm hungry," I whined.
"When are you not?" Leah snorts and I shoot her a glare.
What? A girl needs food. Whatever.
We went to the food court, eating and talking about all the stuff that happened recently. Yeah, basically gossip. After spending an hour or so, we finally went home, and all I wanted to do was shout freedom, but then, I controlled my feelings.
Ashley dropped me in front of my house and drove off. When I looked to my right, I saw that we were having new neighbours. Well, that's new. The house next to us has been empty for last 5 years, but I guess we have new neighbours now. Finally, mom would have some new people to talk to.
Suddenly, a car came to halt in front of the house and a certain someone stepped out of the car.
No, this can't be happening.
My face turned from happy to completely horrify when that person stepped out of the car. Tell me this is a dream. Please someone tell me.
When he looked to my side, I saw him smirk at me. At that time, all I wanted to do was slap that smirk off his face. With my eyes wide and mouth open, I said or more like whispered,
"Chase Mason."

The Forgotten Hero
Long ago, in the world of Thyne, the Alliance of the Free Races, a name they had given themselves, summoned a hundred humans from another dimension. Praised as heroes by the people, they rejoiced that they had been able to acquire pure, mana deficient humans that wanted to aid them in their time of need, ignoring the black, archaic slave collars around their necks or the depressed, almost hate-filled expressions that they received when interacting with them. After Ten years of bloody war, the dark races were pushed back deep into their territories. Both sides were near breaking point and desperate to end the war once and for all. In a bargain, the twelve surviving heroes launched a high-risk mission, utilising advanced tactics from their home world to kill the Demon Lord. In exchange, they would be sent home, along with the magically preserved corpses of their comrades, though in truth, they knew that even if they returned, they would never be the same. Legends say that, upon ambushing the Demon Lord in his castle, they finally understood the plight of the world, and in the last act of heroism, sacrificed their lives, sealing him in an eternal prison so his essence would not be able to create another. With the loss of the Demon Lord, and no chance for another to be born, the dark races quickly surrendered and the free races celebrated, honouring the noble sacrifice of the heroes before quickly forgetting about them as they returned to their everyday lives. However, legends are rarely truthful, embellished by the victors in order to earn praise as well as hide the less desirable aspects of their deeds. Trapped in the Demon Lord's throne room inside the Demonic Palace, which even taking a single step on its desecrated grounds is punished by death, two figures remain motionless. They had long run out of insults and threats to trade and now they waited. For what, not even the Gods knew.
