《Cupid's Arrow ✔》Chapter 1

Today was Friday and everyone knows what that means. It's weekend. Yup! I'm excited as I can watch re-runs of my favorite show, Pretty Little Liars. It's so mysterious and for once, I love mysteries.

Let me introduce myself, I'm Chloe Wilson, a shy nerd. Being sarcastic is what I got. But I have a secret that no one knows but my best friend. People at my school know me as the best friend of the school's most popular girl. No one dares to treat me like a side track, though. They know if they dare to say a word against me, they would have to face her wrath; my dearest best friend.

My best friend is Valleywood High School's queen bee. She has been my best friend since forever. Ashley Monte has the most beautiful straight blonde hair that falls freely past her shoulders. Her body is slim with the right amount of curves, making her look gorgeous. She stands 5'10 with her long legs, making me look like a toddler in front of her with my height reaching to only 5'3. She can be bitchy, yet very understanding at the same time. People fail to notice that she is not what everyone makes her to be. She is kind if you don't take her for granted.

Currently, I'm at my school's parking lot waiting for my best friend a.k.a Ashley to come and tell me what she wanted to tell and has been screaming in my ears the whole lunch break, but still not uttering the actual words. Just plain screaming.

Where the hell are you? I thought to myself.

Then, in all her glory, she comes out of the school building with an excited expression. Uh-oh, now what has gotten her this excited? She practically ran towards me, bouncing in her steps. Finally arriving in front of me, Ashley clapped her hands in excitement.

"Chloe, did you hear that there is this party..." Ashley trailed off, a dreamy smile appearing on her face.

Here we go again. A party, really that's what got her so excited. I feel like banging my head on the brick wall.

"Really, a party? That's what you wanted to tell me?" I said in exasperation. What is with the high schoolers and their parties? I really can't understand them.

Let me tell you, I hate parties. Like really, really hate them.

"Yeah." She said in a 'duh' tone.

"And? Why are you telling me about this?" I asked, really confused. Don't all high schoolers party every Friday?

"I know you hate parties, but guess what?" she said with a dreamy expression, again.

"What?" I asked, irritated. But she ignored it. I hate her for this sometimes.

"Jeff asked me to go with him." She said, jumping up and down. Wow! Well, that's new. I never took Jeff as a person to ask her for a party. I mean, Ashley is beyond flawless, but Jeff is a jerk. I personally don't like him. Well, I guess I was wrong, but anyway I'm happy for her.

"Okay, well that's good. Enjoy and don't drink too much and if you need anything, I'm only a call away." I said and started walking towards my baby; my car.

"Okay, will do. Bye!" She waved.

With that I went to my car and drove home.

Later at night around six o'clock my phone started ringing while I was watching a movie on Netflix.

When I saw the caller ID, I rolled my eyes. Of course it's Ashley. This girl will be death of me. Wasn't she supposed to go to a party and according to me, she should be getting ready by now. I hope that Jeff is picking her up like a gentleman. I won't be surprised, if he didn't.

I picked up the phone and answered. "Yeah? What's wrong?"

I heard her sigh on other end. "Hello to you too. How are you? Very well. I am fine." She said with a dramatic sigh. Really? I mean, didn't we just meet during school. Sarcasm was not appreciated.

"Hello, Ashley! What a surprise you called. What can I do for you? Chloe at your service, ma'am." I asked, sarcastically with an eye roll. She can't see me anyway.

"Ah! Well, what color should I wear? Black or pink?" She asked as if it was the most important thing to ask. I can imagine her holding two dresses in her hands, examining them. But me being me, her best friend told her what I usually suggest.

"Wear black. Pink is well too pink and it's way too girly." I hate pink with passion. It's way too girly for my liking. But pink is Ashley's favorite color.

"Okay! Then I'll wear pink as you say," she said. See, I told you. Well, I knew this was going to happen. Without a reply, she ends the call. Well, that's Ashley for you. I continued with my Netflix, taking a spoonful of ice cream and stuffing it in my mouth.

I don't know when I fell asleep, but it was a peaceful sleep until someone decides to disturb it. I was currently sleeping and dreaming about my date with Logan Lerman, when my phone rang. At first I ignored it, but it kept on ringing and it was annoying. I grabbed my phone and snapped at whoever it was, not bothering to check the caller ID.

"What? And this better be good," I said with an irritated voice to whoever was on the other side of the phone.

"Open the door, I'm outside." I instantly got up after hearing Ashley's voice. I can imagine her rolling her eyes. With a huff, I slowly went downstairs, not making any noise for my parents to wake up and ask me question about 'are you all right?' Or 'are you hungry'. Don't get me wrong I love my parents to death, but sometimes they become very protective. And also I am a daddy's girl so.

When I reached the last step, I sighed in relief. I didn't make any noise. I should get an award for it. I being clumsy doesn't help. Mentally, I patted my back for not tripping.

When I opened the front door, Ashley stood there with a bored, confused, irritated, angry and...sad? face. Well, now I wonder what happened. It's not normal for her to get sad. I opened the door further to let her in. She came and we went upstairs.

When we were in the safety of my room, I asked her, "What happened? Weren't you supposed to be at the party?"

"Yeah I was but-" She looked a bit sad. You don't want to see Ashley sad. I like her with her tough attitude. I envy it sometimes.

"But?" I asked.

"Well you know Jeff asked me?" Yeah, I know. She was way too excited when he did. "He asked only to make his ex-girlfriend jealous." She said. I heard a hint of sadness in her voice. What?

"You like him, don't you?" I asked calmly, not sure what else say.

"Yeah, kind of. But I am angry! How could he use me? I mean, I'm Ashley and everyone wants me." At that, I rolled my eyes. Of course, everyone wants her.

"Don't worry. He's a jerk. You deserve better than him," I reassured her.

"I guess you're right," she sighed. "I'm going to crash here. It's too late already, but I hate him. Wait and see what I do to that jerk." With that she went to my bathroom to change while I arranged a bed for her. She came out in my pajamas and her t-shirt. She owns her own side of drawer here. You could say, this is her second home. We are very close to each other, practically sisters.

After that we went to sleep, but not before me thinking. I have to do what I have to, I smirked to myself.

Jeff, I think you should watch your back or else you won't know what came to you.... With that I went to sleep dreaming about my date with Logan Lerman which was rudely interrupted. Oh! How much I love him.
