《Snow And Ice》Christmas day

Hawthorn woke to the sounds of excited chatter coming from all the different houses all around. He jumped out of bed and went through to his parents' room. Then all 3 of them went downstairs. Hawthorn pulled down his stocking and looked though the little gifts his father had left him. Lots of chocolate and a few little nick nacks, but his favourite thing in the stocking was a coloured crystal glowing in time with the northern lights. He'd be sure to keep that out of evil's way. Under the tree there were more presents. His mother had a new cook book with summer recipes in it, his father had a do not disturb sign he could hang on his door when he was sleeping, and Hawthorn had a new scarf and matching mittens in his favourite green and red stripes, but this time the words HAWTHORN RULES! were stitched into it.

"Your mother made that herself," he'd said. After a glorious breakfast Hawthorn got dressed into his warmest clothes. A knock came at the door and when they opened it lots of eager faces looked up. Every elf in the village was there. Hawthorn saw Alica and her mother coming over with the dogs.

"It's time, Hawthorn, it's time!" said Jingle Berries, who was jumping up and down with excitement. Everyone was brought their present, many silks and budgies, lots of teddies and dolls and a whole band with new instruments, even a singer with a working microphone. Alica had an ice tiara on her head and Jingle Berries was wearing a new hat which was red with an extra large pom-pom. His mother came over with the reindeer and Holly stepped forwards over to them.

"Let the parade begin!" cried the Snow Queen, and with her Alica and their dogs, each with a new sparkly collar leading. The parade began. Hawthorn and Jingle Berries rode on Holly at the back, just in front of his parents in the sleigh. Everyone came to the Town Square for Hawthorn's favourite part of Christmas. Jingle Berries was beside himself with excitement.

"Do you want to start it?" Hawthorn whispered.

"Yes yes yes yes YES!" he squealed, jumping off Holly's back and grabbing a handful of snow which he threw at Hawthorn. Hawthorn dodged and it hit another elf behind him, who picked up more snow and hurled it at someone else, and soon the annual snowball fight had begun. Alica found her way to them and the two went back to back, tossing and running. Soon everyone was tired and laughing. Everyone went back to their houses for lunch. Alica and Jingle Berries both brought their families to Hawthorn's and they ate while listening to classical Christmas songs. When they were done Alica and her mother froze the streets and everyone came out to ice skate. They skated till it grew dark. At that point they began making their way to Alica's castle, running across the snow, some skiing, some sledding, everyone having fun. Before long they made it across to her house, where the normal grumpy nymphs had prepared a lavish meal for them. They all sat at the big table and ate the traditional dinner, then they went home. Many of the elves from about teenagers to late 40s went carolling. Hawthorn was happy. Today had gone well and everyone had gotten a present. Even Holly had a holly wreath on her stable door now.
