"What the hell is this monster talking about?" Maya's father was ready to launch himself on Taehyung to knock out his teeth.

Taehyung had just told them about Maya's condition, it was a little late because Maya was already in her eighth month but it was better to tell them now so they could at least spend some time with Maya before anything happened.

He wasn't expecting the elders to take the announcement lightly, especially Maya's parents. They wanted to rip his head off but he just sat there, helpless and dumb.

"How could you do this to her? We trusted you to keep her safe but you let your stupid desire for a pup take over!"Maya's mother couldn't stop her tears no matter how angry she wanted to look.

Taehyung didn't even make any attempt to defend himself or tell them the truth behind Maya's pregnancy. He would gladly take all the blame if it meant no one would point an accusing finger at his mate.

"How far along is she". Taehyung's mother asked with teary eyes.

"She's due in three weeks".

"You wicked bastard!" Maya's father rose from his seat again and this time no one stopped him as he landed a hard punch on Taehyung's cheek.

"How could you?"

"No wonder we couldn't contact you two".

"What did my daughter ever do to deserve this wickedness?".

"Son, how could you keep this from us?"

Questions upon questions from the elders flooded into Taehyung's ears but he just sat there unable to provide an answer to any of them. Even as Maya's parents stormed out of the house to go see their daughter at the hospital, Taehyung's father followed them while his mother hugged her son tightly. She could see and feel the pain in her son's eyes. She knew he was exhausted and he had given all he had to make Maya happy.

"You didn't get her pregnant on purpose right?" The omega asked as she released her son from the hug.

"It was my fault mum". Taehyung shook his head and looked away from his mother.

"You're my son and I know when you're lying".

"Mum I could have been more careful, I could have controlled myself more, then Maya wouldn't be fighting for her life now". Taehyung sighed and looked up at his mother like a lost child.

The omega only hugged him again and placed his head on her lap where the younger just stayed still. The Alpha's distressed scent was causing his mother so much heartbreak but she pet her son's head regardless and whispered words of encouragement to him. She was his mother after all and even if everyone was against him at the moment, she would always be by his side.

From the moment Taehyung laid eyes on Maya when she was a baby, Mrs. Kim always knew that his son was captivated. Even when Taehyung was a teenager, she couldn't count how many times she noticed her son getting lost while staring at Maya.

The love between Maya and Taehyung was pure and had started with the purest and kindest intentions. It was an innocent friendship that turned into a beautiful bond but the situation between the couple may seem as though beautiful things don't last.

"Mum I need to go back to the hospital. Maya needs me". Taehyung cleaned his face and stood up from his mother's hold, ready to leave.

"We should go together". Mrs. Kim grabbed her purse and followed him closely.

What was Taehyung supposed to prepare for? His mate's death or the birth of a pup? Was he supposed to cry about losing the woman he loves with his life or was he supposed to rejoice about welcoming his flesh and blood, a product of the love he shared with his mate?

Thoughts like that stumbled upon the other. One coming up before he could even analyze the first. Every day Maya's hands were getting too weak to hold him, too cold to feel his warmth. He wasn't sure she could see him at some point because her eyes were closed almost all the time. She wouldn't respond to him anymore, she was falling apart, he was falling apart, everyone and everything was falling apart.

"H-hey m-my precious". Taehyung stuttered painfully, holding back from breaking down.

There was no verbal response from Maya but her lips curved into a smile even though her eyes remained shut. Everything took energy from her including opening her eyes or saying a word.

"The first time I saw you, you were just a tiny pup with the most beautiful eyes. Ah! You completely stole my heart, and even till now you refused to give it back". He held the female's hand and kissed it.

Maya heard everything the alpha said but she couldn't say anything and it made her shed tears even with her eyes still shut.

"No no no bubba, don't cry, don't do that my love. I want you to know that I'm so proud of you for being such a strong Alpha and I'm proud that my pup is now carrying a pup". He smiled bitterly.

Maya was struggling to at least say something but it only stressed her out and she started breathing heavily, tightening her grip on Taehyung as her chest rose and fell at a rapid rate.

Taehyung yelled for the doctors who rushed in almost immediately to attend to Maya.

"Doctor she's in active labor!" A nurse informed after checking Maya's dilation.

Taehyung's ears perked up at the announcement as he stood beside his wife and stared at her tightly shut eyes. She wasn't due until the next three weeks but the doctor had told him that Maya could give birth at any time before the due date. Taehyung couldn't tell whatever the hell the doctors and nurses were doing, all he ever focused on was Maya.

There was no way Maya could push a pup in such a state so the doctors prepared her for a cesarean section.

All that time, Taehyung was there holding on to the hope of a miracle. Holding on to the promise of love that should last forever. Hoping that somehow, all the prayers he offered to the moon goddess were answered.

After forty minutes or thereabouts, the room was filled with the wails of a pup. The voice was tiny yet so piercing to the ears.

"We have a healthy true blood female Alpha". One of the nurses announced excitedly but immediately stopped smiling when she got her senses back.

No one was smiling, not even the father of the newborn pup. Normally, the mother and father would immediately snatch their pup from the doctor to scent and groom the little one. It was wolf instinct to protect their pup once it arrived but none of that was going to happen.

"Sir, would you like to h-hold your pup?" The same nurse asked.

"Take it away from me". Taehyung glared at the nurse and bared his fangs in a threatening manner.

He knew Maya would never wake up after the pup was delivered. He knew she already stopped breathing. He knew she never said goodbye but he still stood beside her, holding her hand so tight.

"Mr. Kim, I'm so sorry". The old doctor held Taehyung's shoulder but immediately stepped away when Taehyung tried to attack him.

The Alpha's eyes turned red and his fangs were out as he stood in a warning position ready to devour anyone who came close to Maya's lifeless body. No one would blame him for such action. They understood that the alpha was not ready to let go of his mate so they all left him alone to be with her for the last time.

Taehyung's mother was quick to take the little pup from the nurse. She didn't have to ask about Maya and Taehyung, she knew what had happened inside that room.

Maya's parents continued cursing Taehyung and refused to even glance at the pup.

"She had not been scented". The elder asked worriedly.

"Her father almost attacked me when I tried handing her over for scenting". The nurse shook her head pitifully.

"It's fine, I'll take care of her".

The nurse bowed and walked away while Mrs. Kim sat alone on the bench in the hallway with the little pup who had cried until she turned pink and was only sniffling and sucking on her small fist.

"You're okay my dear child, Nana is here to make everything better. It's ok darling". The omega kissed her granddaughter's head and rocked her side to side.

After waiting for ages, Mrs. Kim decided to go back inside and get the pup's milk. The little pink child was innocent and shouldn't be left hungry because of the situation she was born into.

Just as she wanted to enter the room where Taehyung was still sobbing with Maya's hand still in his, the Alpha sharply turned to her and bared his fangs ready to attack his own mother. He growled at his mother and stood in a way that showed he would tear her into pieces if she stepped any closer.

"Tae-taehyung I-I just need to-to get the pup's food and clothes f-from Maya's bag". Mrs. Kim took slow steps forward while holding the pup firmly.

Taehyung's eyes shifted to the pup and a surge of anger overtook him causing him to walk straight to his mother, the next thing the woman knew, she was pushed harshly to the floor where she landed on her butt. The angry Alpha stormed out of the hospital leaving his mother on the floor with a crying pup.
