"I'm sorry but your mate will have to be under close medical supervision until she births the pup". The old doctor spoke gently to Taehyung.

The alpha had rushed his mate to the hospital and after she was revived, the old doctor who looked like he had been in the medical field for a long time needed to have a talk with Taehyung.

Maya was just about nine weeks pregnant but the complications that came with carrying a true blood alpha were already taking effect and her life was in danger. The doctor suggested that the couple terminate the pregnancy to save the female's life but she wouldn't accept.

Maya was placed on bed rest which would last throughout her pregnancy and if she was strong enough, she would be able to birth the pup but if her body got weak before her due date, then she may lose her life and even the pup.

"But doctor, is there no single survivor of this true blood birth?" Taehyung asked with hope in his eyes.

"No one has ever survived a true blood birth. However, medical research suggests that birthing a true blood in wolf form could give the mother a good chance at survival". The doctor explained.

"But pregnant wolves can't shift in this era". Taehyung slumped into his chair, all-atom of hope in him varnished.

"As our kind evolved, it became impossible for pregnant wolves to shift. It was common in the past but now, it is simply unachievable". The old man shook his head, looking at Taehyung with such pity.

"Doctor please help me, make more research, ask other doctors or native healers, please do everything and anything. I can't lose my wife". Taehyung knelt and pleaded with the doctor.

"I can't promise anything. You already know the outcome of your wife's pregnancy. All I can do is make sure the pup comes out healthy but as for your wife, I'm sorry". The doctor didn't want to give Taehyung false hope so it was better to say everything as it was.

Maya would die after giving birth to the pup and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Unless she agreed to terminate the pup.

After talking to the doctor, Taehyung went back to their home to get Maya's things since she'd be staying at the hospital for a long time. None of their family knew what was going on and Taehyung wanted to keep it that way for a while because telling them would cause a lot of chaos.

As he packed Maya's things, tears kept falling and he didn't even bother to wipe them. His heart was heavy and he felt a wave of hopelessness hit him.

What was he supposed to do? Breakdown and cry every day while holding Maya's hands till the end? Stay strong and hope that a miracle would happen, that Maya was special, and that she'd be the first survivor of a true blood birth. Or simply give up on his mate and wait for his pup?

It was as if Taehyung's life was put on hold. He had decided to stop working in other to give Maya his undivided attention. He also switched off his phone and laptop to avoid getting calls or emails from anyone. All his focus would be on giving Maya the best rest of her life.

TWO MONTHS LATER

"Morning my precious, did you sleep well?" Taehyung smiled widely at his still slumbering mate.

The female nodded weakly. She tried to return the smile but instead, her face scrunched up when she felt some wetness between her legs. It was something that had been happening for some time and the doctor assured them that it was normal to experience an increase in discharge during pregnancy.

Taehyung noticed the female's countenance and he knew it was going to be one of those days she stayed mad and cranky for no reason. He still put a smile on his face and kissed Maya's cheek.

"I need to clean up first". She said, frowning at how disgusted she felt.

"Let's get you to the bathroom. We'll clean up first and then get ready for your stretches". The male said excitedly as he rolled out Maya's wheelchair, setting it in a position where it was easy for him to place her on it.

"Breakfast before stretches". Maya looked up at him with big eyes. She preferred eating first before the stretches.

"Ok, we'll eat, and then we'll do the stretches, and guess what?"

"What?" The female cocked her head like a curious puppy.

"Then we'll eat again". Taehyung chuckled.

Maya burst into laughter at how her husband was behaving that morning. She knew he was trying to cheer her up by doing or saying anything he could and somehow she felt bad for giving him attitude. Blame it on the hormones.

About two weeks ago, Maya started using the wheelchair because her body was getting weaker each week and she could no longer move around without assistance. It caused a lot of pain in Taehyung's heart but he never shed a tear or frowned or showed Maya how hurt he was. His mate was dying and all he could do was make her happy till the end.

The alpha wasn't excited about the pup on the way. Not like he hated his own pup but it was because of this same pup that his mate was dying so he saw no reason to jump in excitement over it. He didn't like seeing the pup during ultrasound nor did he enjoy hearing the heartbeat.

The doctor had informed him that Maya's condition would only get worst and he needed to prepare for all of it.

"And we're all nice and clean". Taehyung turned off the water after washing Maya and himself.

He was about to get up from the bathtub when Maya held his wrist to pull him back down. She wanted to spend more time in the bathtub with Taehyung or maybe she wanted something else.

"We need to go start your stretches my precious". Taehyung tried shrugging off her demand.

"Just this once. It's been months since you touched me". Maya seductively ran her hand over his chest.

"You're not even that strong. I'm gonna break you if I lay a finger on you". The male laughed, finding it funny that his sick wife wanted to get intimate.

"Alpha come on, you don't have to be rough". The female whined.

"Ok, we'll do your stretches first then I'll ask the doctor if we can do it. I don't want to hurt you". Taehyung said.

"Ugh fine". Maya rolled her eyes and stretched her hands for Taehyung to lift her from the bathtub.

Up until the last week of Maya's fourth month of pregnancy, there weren't many complications except that she couldn't walk at all and constant fatigue.

Their parents didn't know what was happening yet but Taehyung planned to hold a meeting with both families to inform them of the situation. He also had plans concerning the pup and the changes he was going to make after it was born.

I feel like this chapter is not necessary but I just wanted to show how Maya's pregnancy was affecting their lives.
