《The Snake In My Dreams》Ch. 15

Remus watched.

He watched as Roman got to have the good side of the Imagination. He watched as Roman wasn't bothered by awful thoughts everyday. He watched as Roman could create beautiful things with ease.

And he wondered, why couldn't he have that? What made Roman so special that he got to have all these things? Why wasn't Roman shut up the second he opened his mouth?

He watched as Roman took Janus from him.

And Remus decided he was done watching.

He was going to be the star for once. This was his story, and Remus would fight for it. He would fight for it with everything he had.

Because Remus would be damned if he just watched as Roman took this.

Logan had given him a simple, yet effective plan. It was carefully thought out, fitting of him. Of course, he wasn't aware why Remus needed this plan.

Remus felt kinda bad, exploiting Logan's brilliance like that. But it had to be done.

No matter what Virgil, or Patton, or anyone would think, Remus was going to make Janus his or die trying.

"Hey Janus!" Remus chirped, bouncing up to him. Janus turned to him, his hair shifting in a way that looked so fucking cute--

"Oh, Remus! Did you see the no--?"

"Do you have any plans with Roman soon?" Remus wiggled his eyebrows, smirking.

Janus flushed, forgetting what he was saying completely. "...what?"

That expression was absolutely adorable, but not when it was caused by Roman or Roman related topics.

"Y'know," Remus giggled. "Any dates planned? I want all the details on your newfound romance!" Remus ushered Janus to the couch.

"Uh, well," Janus mumbled, fiddling with the locket around his neck. When did he get a locket? "Roman and I were planning on going to the Imagination tonight. He said he had a suprise." Janus admitted.

"A surprise, huh~? You're already at that level, eh?" Remus grinned. Janus sputtered in indignation, going bright red.

"Wh--No--I--We--It's not like that!" Janus screeched. Remus laughed, hoping it didn't sound too forced. "Knowing Roman, it'll probably be something romantic."

"Yeah, my brother is a sucker for romance." Remus growled bitterly. Janus looked at him curiously, but Remus quickly moved on. "So the Imagination, huh? Did he give you any hints on what he wanted to do?"

"He just said to dress nicely." Janus shrugged.

"Do a bunch of layers, more for him to rip off later." Remus winked, watching as Janus predictably turned red again.

"Remus! Keep saying stuff like that!" He exclaimed, lying out of reflex.

"Well, if you insist." Remus smirked. Janus' eyes widened.

"Yes! I mean--No! That's exactly what I meant! No--wait, I meant--" Janus stammered, getting confused and flustered. Remus cackled. His uproarious laughter quickly turned soft and fond.

"I'm in love with you." Remus sighed quietly, smiling at Janus.

"What?"

"Hmm?"

"Did you say something?"

"Yes."

"...can I know what it is?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't want to tell you."

"Fair enough." Janus shrugged. He glanced at the clock, before he eyes went wide. "Shit--I wasn't supposed to be getting ready right now!" He exclaimed, not even realizing that he was lying.

"You better hurry. You wouldn't wanna keep Prince Poopy-Pants waiting." Remus smirked, watching Janus frantically stand up.

"I won't see you later, Remus!" Janus called over his shoulder, rushing out of the room.

Remus just sat on the couch for a moment, replaying the conversation in his head.

Man, he was whipped.

---

Remus had popped up on his brother's side of the Imagination. He immediately hid in the bushes when he heard his brother humming nearby.

Roman was stood in a gazebo, looking at the blanket placed on the floor. It was plaid red and white, a classic picnic blanket.

He tilted his head. "Too basic." He mumbled, snapping his fingers.

It shifted into a red and yellow plaid blanket. Roman immediately cringed.

"Too loud." Roman shook his head, snapping again. "Let's try something else..."

A plain yellow blanket.

"Too boring."

A plain red blanket.

"Too alarming...I want a more soothing look." Roman grumbled, snapping again.

Remus rolled his eyes. Roman had always been picky when it came to everything. It seems he hadn't grown out of it.

"What about...?" Roman hummed, before snapping his fingers once more.

A plain mint blanket.

"Lighter." Roman murmured, and the blanket immediately obeyed his command. "Perfect."

He smiled, before turning clapping his hands twice.

Two cherry blossom trees sprouted from the ground next to the gazebo, framing it perfectly.

Remus scowled. It was beautiful, as per usual.

Roman waved his hand, and some musicians appeared right in front if the gazebo, off to the side.

He waved his other hand, and an assortment of sweets appeared on the picnic blanket. From chocolates to cake, it was enough to make any child mad with envy.

Remus smirked. Perfect.

Remus raised his hand in the direction of the sweets, before freezing. "What the--?!"

Patton and Virgil were in the bushes directly across from Remus, watching him intently.
